- Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
- Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
- When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
- Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
- So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)

- だから， 聖靈が 言っているように， ／「きょう， あなたがたがみ 聲を 聞いたなら，
- 荒野における 試鍊の 日に， ／神にそむいた 時のように， ／あなたがたの 心を， かたくなにしてはいけない．
- あなたがたの 先祖たちは， ／そこでわたしを 試みためし，
- しかも， 四十年の 間わたしのわざを 見たのである． だから， わたしはその 時代の 人¿に 對して， ／いきどおって 言った， ／彼らの 心は， いつも 迷っており， ／彼らは， わたしの 道を 認めなかった．
- そこで， わたしは 怒って， 彼らをわたしの 安息に ／はいらせることはしない， と 誓った 」．

- Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
- But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
- For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
- While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
- For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.

- 兄弟たちよ． 氣をつけなさい． あなたがたの 中には， あるいは， 不信仰な 惡い 心をいだいて， 生ける 神から 離れ 去る 者があるかも 知れない．
- あなたがたの 中に， 罪の 惑わしに 陷って， 心をかたくなにする 者がないように， 「きょう 」といううちに， 日¿， 互に 勵まし 合いなさい．
- もし 最初の 確信を， 最後までしっかりと 持ち 續けるならば， わたしたちは キリスト にあずかる 者となるのである．
- それについて， こう 言われている， ／「きょう， み 聲を 聞いたなら， ／神にそむいた 時のように， ／あなたがたの 心を， かたくなにしてはいけない 」．
- すると， 聞いたのにそむいたのは， だれであったのか． モ ― セ に 率いられて， エジプト から 出て 行ったすべての 人¿ではなかったか．

- But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
- And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
- So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

- また， 四十年の 間， 神がいきどおられたのはだれに 對してであったか． 罪を 犯して， その 死かばねを 荒野にさらした 者たちに 對してではなかったか．
- また， 神が， わたしの 安息に， はいらせることはしない， と 誓われたのは， だれに 向かってであったか． 不從順な 者に 向かってではなかったか．
- こうして， 彼らがはいることのできなかったのは， 不信仰のゆえであることがわかる．
