- Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
- Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
- According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
- Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
- And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

- イエス · キリスト の 僕また 使徒である シメオン · ペテロ から， わたしたちの 神と 救主 イエス · キリスト との 義によって， わたしたちと 同じ 尊い 信仰を 授かった 人¿へ．
- 神とわたしたちの 主 イエス とを 知ることによって， 惠みと 平安とが， あなたがたに 豊かに 加わるように．
- いのちと 信心とにかかわるすべてのことは， 主 イエス の 神聖な 力によって， わたしたちに 與えられている． それは， ご 自身の 榮光と 德とによって， わたしたちを 召されたかたを 知る 知識によるのである．
- また， それらのものによって， 尊く， 大いなる 約束が， わたしたちに 與えられている． それは， あなたがたが， 世にある 欲のために 滅びることを 免れ， 神の 性質にあずかる 者となるためである．
- それだから， あなたがたは， 力の 限りをつくして， あなたがたの 信仰に 德を 加え， 德に 知識を，

- And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
- And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
- For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
- Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

- 知識に 節制を， 節制に 忍耐を， 忍耐に 信心を，
- 信心に 兄弟愛を， 兄弟愛に 愛を 加えなさい．
- これらのものがあなたがたに 備わって， いよいよ 豊かになるならば， わたしたちの 主 イエス · キリスト を 知る 知識について， あなたがたは， 怠る 者， 實を 結ばない 者となることはないであろう．
- これらのものを 備えていない 者は， 盲人であり， 近視の 者であり， 自分の 以前の 罪がきよめられたことを 忘れている 者である．
- 兄弟たちよ． それだから， ますます 勵んで， あなたがたの 受けた 召しと 選びとを， 確かなものにしなさい． そうすれば， 決してあやまちに 陷ることはない．

- For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
- Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.
- Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;
- Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.
- Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.

- こうして， わたしたちの 主また 救主 イエス · キリスト の 永遠の 國に 入る 惠みが， あなたがたに 豊かに 與えられるからである．
- それだから， あなたがたは 旣にこれらのことを 知っており， また， いま 持っている 眞理に 堅く 立ってはいるが， わたしは， これらのことをいつも， あなたがたに 思い 起させたいのである．
- わたしがこの 幕屋にいる 間， あなたがたに 思い 起させて， 奮い 立たせることが 適當と 思う．
- それは， わたしたちの 主 イエス · キリスト もわたしに 示して 下さったように， わたしのこの 幕屋を 脫ぎ 去る 時が 間近であることを 知っているからである．
- わたしが 世を 去った 後にも， これらのことを， あなたがたにいつも 思い 出させるように 努めよう．

- For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
- For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
- And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
- We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
- Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

- わたしたちの 主 イエス · キリスト の 力と 來臨とを， あなたがたに 知らせた 時， わたしたちは， 巧みな 作り 話を 用いることはしなかった． わたしたちが， そのご 威光の 目擊者なのだからである．
- イエス は 父なる 神からほまれと 榮光とをお 受けになったが， その 時， おごそかな 榮光の 中から 次のようなみ 聲がかかったのである， 「これはわたしの 愛する 子， わたしの 心にかなう 者である 」．
- わたしたちも イエス と 共に 聖なる 山にいて， 天から 出たこの 聲を 聞いたのである．
- こうして， 預言の 言葉は， わたしたちにいっそう 確實なものになった． あなたがたも， 夜が 明け， 明星がのぼって， あなたがたの 心の 中を 照すまで， この 預言の 言葉を 暗やみに 輝くともしびとして， それに 目をとめているがよい．
- 聖書の 預言はすべて， 自分勝手に 解釋すべきでないことを， まず 第一に 知るべきである．

- For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
|
- なぜなら， 預言は 決して 人間の 意志から 出たものではなく， 人¿が 聖靈に 感じ， 神によって 語ったものだからである．
