- The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
- There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not:
- The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.
- Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.
- For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot bear:

- 自分の 父をあざけり， 母に 從うのを 卑しいこととする 目は， 谷のからすがこれをつつき 出し， はげたかがこれを 食べる．
- わたしにとって 不思議にたえないことが 三つある， いや， 四つあって， わたしには 悟ることができない．
- すなわち 空を 飛ぶはげたかの 道， 岩の 上を 這うへびの 道， 海をはしる 舟の 道， 男の 女にあう 道がそれである．
- 遊女の 道もまたそうだ， 彼女は 食べて， その 口をぬぐって， 「わたしは 何もわるいことはしない 」と 言う．
- 地は 三つのことによって 震う， いや， 四つのことによって， 耐えることができない．
