- What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?
- Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
- It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
- Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.

- わが 子よ， 何を 言おうか． わが 胎の 子よ， 何を 言おうか． わたしが 願をかけて 得た 子よ， 何をいおうか．
- あなたの 力を 女についやすな， 王をも 滅ぼすものに， あなたの 道を 任せるな．
- レムエル よ， 酒を 飮むのは， 王のすることではない， 王のすることではない， 濃い 酒を 求めるのは 君たる 者のすることではない．
- 彼らは 酒を 飮んで， おきてを 忘れ， すべて 惱む 者のさばきを 曲げる．

- Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
- Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
- Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.
- Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

- 濃い 酒を 滅びようとしている 者に 與え， 酒を 心の 苦しむ 人に 與えよ．
- 彼らは 飮んで 自分の 貧乏を 忘れ， その 惱みをもはや 思い 出さない．
- あなたは 默っている 人のために， すべてのみなしごの 訴えのために， 口を 開くがよい．
- 口を 開いて， 正しいさばきを 行い， 貧しい 者と 乏しい 者の 訴えをただせ．
