- At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat.
- But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.
- But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;
- How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?
- Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

- そのころ， ある 安息日に イエス は 麥畑を 通られた． 弟子たちは 空腹になったので， 麥の 穗を 摘んで 食べ 始めた．
- ファリサイ 派の 人¿がこれを 見て， イエス に， 「御覽なさい． あなたの 弟子たちは， 安息日にしてはならないことをしている 」と 言った．
- そこで， イエス は 言われた． 「ダビデ が 自分も 供の 者たちも 空腹だったときに 何をしたか， 讀んだことがないのか．
- 神の 家に 入り， ただ 祭司のほかには， 自分も 供の 者たちも 食べてはならない 供えの パン を 食べたではないか．
- 安息日に 神殿にいる 祭司は， 安息日の ¿を 破っても 罪にならない， と 律法にあるのを 讀んだことがないのか．

- But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.
- But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.
- For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.
- And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:
- And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.

- 言っておくが， 神殿よりも 偉大なものがここにある．
- もし， 『わたしが 求めるのは 憐れみであって， いけにえではない 』という 言葉の 意味を 知っていれば， あなたたちは 罪もない 人たちをとがめなかったであろう．
- 人の 子は 安息日の 主なのである． 」
- イエス はそこを 去って， 會堂にお 入りになった．
- すると， 片手の 萎えた 人がいた． 人¿は イエス を 訴えようと 思って， 「安息日に 病氣を 治すのは， 律法で 許されていますか 」と 尋ねた．

- And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?
- How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.
- Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.
- Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.
- But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;

- そこで， イエス は 言われた． 「あなたたちのうち， だれか 羊を 一匹持っていて， それが 安息日に 穴に 落ちた 場合， 手で 引き 上げてやらない 者がいるだろうか．
- 人間は 羊よりもはるかに 大切なものだ． だから， 安息日に 善いことをするのは 許されている． 」
- そしてその 人に， 「手を 伸ばしなさい 」と 言われた． 伸ばすと， もう 一方の 手のように 元どおり 良くなった．
- ファリサイ 派の 人¿は 出て 行き， どのようにして イエス を 殺そうかと 相談した．
- イエス はそれを 知って， そこを 立ち 去られた． 大勢の 群衆が 從った． イエス は 皆の 病氣をいやして，

- And charged them that they should not make him known:
- That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
- Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.
- He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.
- A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.

- 御自分のことを 言いふらさないようにと 戒められた．
- それは， 預言者 イザヤ を 通して 言われていたことが 實現するためであった．
- 「見よ， わたしの 選んだ 僕． わたしの 心に 適った 愛する 者． この 僕にわたしの 靈を 授ける． 彼は 異邦人に 正義を 知らせる．
- 彼は 爭わず， 叫ばず， ／その 聲を 聞く 者は 大通りにはいない．
- 正義を 勝利に 導くまで， ／彼は 傷ついた 葦を 折らず， ／くすぶる 燈心を 消さない．

- And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.
|
- 異邦人は 彼の 名に 望みをかける． 」
