- And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
- And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
- And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
- Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
- While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

- 六日の 後， イエス は， ペトロ ， それに ヤコブ とその 兄弟 ヨハネ だけを 連れて， 高い 山に 登られた．
- イエス の 姿が 彼らの 目の 前で 變わり， 顔は 太陽のように 輝き， 服は 光のように 白くなった．
- 見ると， モ ― セ と エリヤ が 現れ， イエス と 語り 合っていた．
- ペトロ が 口をはさんで イエス に 言った． 「主よ， わたしたちがここにいるのは， すばらしいことです． お 望みでしたら， わたしがここに 假小屋を 三つ 建てましょう． 一つはあなたのため， 一つは モ ― セ のため， もう 一つは エリヤ のためです． 」
- ペトロ がこう 話しているうちに， 光り 輝く 雲が 彼らを 覆った． すると， 「これはわたしの 愛する 子， わたしの 心に 適う 者． これに 聞け 」という 聲が 雲の 中から 聞こえた．

- And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
- And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
- And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.
- And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.
- And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?

- 弟子たちはこれを 聞いてひれ 伏し， 非常に 恐れた．
- イエス は 近づき， 彼らに 手を 觸れて 言われた． 「起きなさい． 恐れることはない． 」
- 彼らが 顔を 上げて 見ると， イエス のほかにはだれもいなかった．
- 一同が 山を 下りるとき， イエス は， 「人の 子が 死者の 中から 復活するまで， 今見たことをだれにも 話してはならない 」と 弟子たちに 命じられた．
- 彼らは イエス に， 「なぜ， 律法學者は， まず エリヤ が 來るはずだと 言っているのでしょうか 」と 尋ねた．

- And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
- But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
- Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

- イエス はお 答えになった． 「確かに エリヤ が 來て， すべてを 元どおりにする．
- 言っておくが， エリヤ は 旣に 來たのだ． 人¿は 彼を 認めず， 好きなようにあしらったのである． 人の 子も， そのように 人¿から 苦しめられることになる． 」
- そのとき， 弟子たちは， イエス が 洗禮者 ヨハネ のことを 言われたのだと 悟った．
