- The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,
- Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
- Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:
- Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.
- And last of all the woman died also.

- その 同じ 日， 復活はないと 言っている サドカイ 派の 人¿が， イエス に 近寄って 來て 尋ねた．
- 「先生， モ ― セ は 言っています． 『ある 人が 子がなくて 死んだ 場合， その 弟は 兄嫁と 結婚して， 兄の 跡繼ぎをもうけねばならない 』と．
- さて， わたしたちのところに， 七人の 兄弟がいました． 長男は 妻を 迎えましたが 死に， 跡繼ぎがなかったので， その 妻を 弟に 殘しました．
- 次男も 三男も， ついに 七人とも 同じようになりました．
- 最後にその 女も 死にました．

- Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.
- Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
- For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
- But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,
- I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

- すると 復活の 時， その 女は 七人のうちのだれの 妻になるのでしょうか． 皆その 女を 妻にしたのです． 」
- イエス はお 答えになった． 「あなたたちは 聖書も 神の 力も 知らないから， 思い 違いをしている．
- 復活の 時には， めとることも 嫁ぐこともなく， 天使のようになるのだ．
- 死者の 復活については， 神があなたたちに 言われた 言葉を 讀んだことがないのか．
- 『わたしは アブラハム の 神， イサク の 神， ヤコブ の 神である 』とあるではないか． 神は 死んだ 者の 神ではなく， 生きている 者の 神なのだ． 」

- And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.

- 群衆はこれを 聞いて， イエス の 敎えに 驚いた．
