	신명기 12:29-14:29 모세는 우상 숭배에 대해 거듭 경고하며 거짓 선지자와 가족, 친구들의 우상 숭배 유혹에 빠지지 말 것과 우상을 숭배하는 성읍을 멸할 것을 명령했다. 그리고 거룩한 백성이 먹을 수 있는 것과 먹을 수 없는 것을 규정하여 성결한 삶을 살 것과 십일조를 드릴 것을 교훈했다. 아울러 그들과 더불어 사는 레위인과 객과 고아와 과부들을 돌아볼 것을 권면했다.

	우상 숭배 금지(12:29-13:18)

When the LORD thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land;

Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.

Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.

What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

あなたが行って追い拂おうとしている國¿の民を，あなたの神，主が絶やされ，あなたがその領土を得て，そこに住むようになるならば，

注意して，彼らがあなたの前から滅ぼされた後，彼らに從って ┼に陷らないようにしなさい．すなわち，「これらの國¿の民はどのように神¿に仕えていたのだろう．わたしも同じようにしよう」と言って，彼らの神¿を尋ね求めることのないようにしなさい．

あなたの神，主に對しては彼らと同じことをしてはならない．彼らは主がいとわれ，憎まれるあらゆることを神¿に行い，その息子，娘さえも火に投じて神¿にささげたのである．

If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,

And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;

Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.

And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.

あなたたちは，わたしが命じることをすべて忠實に守りなさい．これに何一つ加えたり，減らすことがあってはならない．

預言者や夢占いをする者があなたたちの中に現れ，しるしや奇跡を示して，

そのしるしや奇跡が言ったとおり實現したとき，「あなたの知らなかった他の神¿に從い，これに仕えようではないか」と誘われても，

その預言者や夢占いをする者の言葉に耳を貸してはならない．あなたたちの神，主はあなたたちを試し，心を盡くし，魂を盡くして，あなたたちの神，主を愛するかどうかを知ろうとされるからである．

あなたたちは，あなたたちの神，主に從い，これを畏れ，その戒めを守り，御聲を聞き，これに仕え，これにつき從わねばならない．

If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;

Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;

Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:

But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.

And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

その預言者や夢占いをする者は處刑されねばならない．彼らは，あなたたちをエジプトの國から導き出し，奴隷の家から救い出してくださったあなたたちの神，主に背くように勸め，あなたの神，主が步むようにと命じられる道から迷わせようとするからである．あなたはこうして，あなたの中から惡を取り除かねばならない．

同じ母の子である兄弟，息子，娘，愛する妻，あるいは親友に，「あなたも先祖も知らなかった他の神¿に從い，これに仕えようではないか」とひそかに誘われても，

その神¿が近隣諸國の民の神¿であっても，地の果てから果てに至る遠い國¿の神¿であっても，

誘惑する者に同調して耳を貸したり，憐れみの目を注いで同情したり，かばったりしてはならない．

このような者は必ず殺さねばならない．彼を殺すには，まずあなたが手を下し，次に，民が皆それに續く．

And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is among you.

If thou shalt hear say in one of thy cities, which the LORD thy God hath given thee to dwell there, saying,

Certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known;

Then shalt thou enquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought among you;

Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.

あなたをエジプトの國，奴隷の家から導き出したあなたの神，主から離して迷わせようとしたのだから，彼を石で打ち殺さねばならない．

全イスラエルはこれを聞いて，恐れを抱き，あなたの中でこのような惡事は二度と繰り返されることはないであろう．

あなたの神，主があなたに與えて住まわせるどこかの町のうわさとして，

あなたの中からならず者が現れて，「お前たちの知らなかった他の神¿に從い，これに仕えようではないか」と言って，その町の住民を迷わせているということを聞いたならば，

それを尋ね，探り，よく問いたださねばならない．それが確かな事實であり，そのようないとうべきことがあなたたちの中で行われたのであれば，

And thou shalt gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the street thereof, and shalt burn with fire the city, and all the spoil thereof every whit, for the LORD thy God: and it shall be an heap for ever; it shall not be built again.

And there shall cleave nought of the cursed thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and shew thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers;

When thou shalt hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep all his commandments which I command thee this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD thy God.

その町の住民を劍にかけて殺し，町もそこにあるすべてのものも滅ぼし盡くし，家畜も劍にかけねばならない．

分捕り品をすべて廣場の中央に集め，分捕り品もろとも町全體を燒き拂い，あなたの神，主に對する完全に燃やし盡くす獻げ物としなければならない．その町はとこしえに廢虛の丘となって，再び建てられることはない．

主が激しい怒りをやめ，あなたに憐れみを垂れ，先祖たちに誓われたとおり，憐れみをもってあなたの數を增やされるように，その滅ぼし盡くすべきものは何一つ手もとにとどめてはならない．

	정한 것과 부정한 것(14:1-14:29)

Ye are the children of the LORD your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.

For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.

Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.

These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat,

The hart, and the roebuck, and the fallow deer, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the wild ox, and the chamois.

あなたたちは，あなたたちの神，主の子らである．死者を悼むために體を傷つけたり，額をそり上げてはならない．

あなたは，あなたの神，主の聖なる民である．主は地の面のすべての民の中からあなたを選んで，御自分の寶の民とされた．

すべていとうべきものは食べてはならない．

食べてよい動物は次のとおりである．牛，羊，山羊，

雄鹿，かもしか，子鹿，野山羊， ┨羊，大かもしか，ガゼル．

And every beast that parteth the hoof, and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, that ye shall eat.

Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the cloven hoof; as the camel, and the hare, and the coney: for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof; therefore they are unclean unto you.

And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase.

These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat:

And whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye may not eat; it is unclean unto you.

その他ひづめが分かれ，完全に二つに割れており，しかも反すうする動物は食べることができる．

ただし，反すうするだけか，あるいは，ひづめが分かれただけの動物は食べてはならない．らくだ，野兎，岩狸．これらは反すうするが，ひづめが分かれていないから汚れたものである．

いのしし．これはひづめが分かれているが，反すうしないから汚れたものである．これらの動物の肉を食べてはならない．死骸に觸れてはならない．

水中の魚類のうち，ひれ，うろこのあるものはすべて食べてよい．

しかしひれやうろこのないものは，一切食べてはならない．それは汚れたものである．

Of all clean birds ye shall eat.

But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,

And the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after his kind,

And every raven after his kind,

And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind,

淸い鳥はすべて食べてよい．

しかし，次の鳥は食べてはならない．禿鷲，ひげ鷲，黑禿鷲，

赤鳶， ¿，鳶の類，

烏の類，

鷲みみずく，小みみずく，虎ふずく，鷹の類，

The little owl, and the great owl, and the swan,

And the pelican, and the gier eagle, and the cormorant,

And the stork, and the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.

And every creeping thing that flieth is unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten.

But of all clean fowls ye may eat.

森ふくろう，大このはずく，小きんめふくろう，

このはずく，みさご，魚みみずく，

こうのとり，靑鷺の類，やつがしら鳥，こうもり．

羽のある昆蟲はすべて汚れたものであり，食べてはならない．

淸い鳥はすべて食べてよい．

Ye shall not eat of anything that dieth of itself: thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is in thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto an alien: for thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.

Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.

And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.

And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:

Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose:

死んだ動物は一切食べてはならない．町の中にいる寄留者に與えて食べさせるか，外國人に賣りなさい．あなたは，あなたの神，主の聖なる民である．あなたは子山羊をその母の乳で煮てはならない．

あなたは，每年，畑に種を蒔いて得る收穫物の中から，必ず十分の一を取り分けねばならない．

あなたの神，主の御前で，すなわち主がその名を置くために選ばれる場所で，あなたは，穀物，新しいぶどう酒，オリ ― ブ油の十分の一と，牛，羊の初子を食べ，常にあなたの神，主を畏れることを學ばねばならない．

あなたの神，主があなたを祝福されても，あなたの神，主がその名を置くために選ばれる場所が遠く離れ，その道のりが長いため，收穫物を携えて行くことができないならば，

それを銀に換えて，しっかりと持ち，あなたの神，主の選ばれる場所に携え，

And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,

And the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.

At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates:

And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.

銀で望みのもの，すなわち，牛，羊，ぶどう酒，濃い酒，その他何でも必要なものを買い，あなたの神，主の御前で家族と共に食べ，喜び祝いなさい．

あなたの町の中に住むレビ人を見捨ててはならない．レビ人にはあなたのうちに嗣業の割り當てがないからである．

三年目ごとに，その年の收穫物の十分の一を取り分け，町の中に蓄えておき，

あなたのうちに嗣業の割り當てのないレビ人や，町の中にいる寄留者，孤兒，寡婦がそれを食べて滿ち足りることができるようにしなさい．そうすれば，あなたの行うすべての手の業について，あなたの神，主はあなたを祝福するであろう．
