- When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and seest horses, and chariots, and a people more than thou, be not afraid of them: for the LORD thy God is with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
- And it shall be, when ye are come nigh unto the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak unto the people,
- And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them;
- For the LORD your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.
- And the officers shall speak unto the people, saying, What man is there that hath built a new house, and hath not dedicated it? let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man dedicate it.

- あなたが 敵に 向かって 出陣するとき， 馬と 戰車， また 味方より 多數の 軍勢を 見ても 恐れてはならない． あなたを エジプト の 國から 導き 上られたあなたの 神， 主が 共におられるからである．
- いよいよ 戰いの 場に 臨んだならば， 祭司は 進み 出て， 民に 告げ，
- 次のように 言わねばならない． 「イスラエル よ， 聞け． あなたたちは， 今日， 敵との 戰いに 臨む． 心ひるむな． 恐れるな． 慌てるな． 彼らの 前にうろたえるな．
- あなたたちの 神， 主が 共に 進み， 敵と 戰って 勝利を 賜るからである． 」
- 役人たちは 民に 勸めなさい． 「新しい 家を 建てて， まだ 奉獻式を 濟ませていない 者はいないか． その 人は 家に 歸りなさい． 万一， 戰死して， ほかの 者が 奉獻式をするようなことにならないように．

- And what man is he that hath planted a vineyard, and hath not yet eaten of it? let him also go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man eat of it.
- And what man is there that hath betrothed a wife, and hath not taken her? let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her.
- And the officers shall speak further unto the people, and they shall say, What man is there that is fearful and fainthearted? let him go and return unto his house, lest his brethren's heart faint as well as his heart.
- And it shall be, when the officers have made an end of speaking unto the people that they shall make captains of the armies to lead the people.
- When thou comest nigh unto a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace unto it.

- ぶどう 畑を 作り， まだ 最初の 收穫をしていない 者はいないか． その 人は 家に 歸りなさい． 万一， 戰死して， ほかの 者が 最初の 收穫をするようなことにならないように．
- 婚約しただけで， まだ 結婚していない 者はいないか． その 人は 家に 歸りなさい． 万一， 戰死して， ほかの 者が 彼女と 結婚するようなことにならないように． 」
- 役人たちは 更に 民に 勸めて 言いなさい． 「恐れて 心ひるんでいる 者はいないか． その 人は 家に 歸りなさい． 彼の 心と 同じように 同胞の 心が 挫けるといけないから． 」
- 役人たちが 民への 勸めを 終えたならば， 各部隊の 長は 民の 指揮を 取りなさい．
- ある 町を 攻擊しようとして， そこに 近づくならば， まず， 降伏を 勸告しなさい．

- And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee, then it shall be, that all the people that is found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and they shall serve thee.
- And if it will make no peace with thee, but will make war against thee, then thou shalt besiege it:
- And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword:
- But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself; and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.
- Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities which are very far off from thee, which are not of the cities of these nations.

- もしその 町がそれを 受諾し， 城門を 開くならば， その 全住民を 强制勞¿に 服させ， あなたに 仕えさせねばならない．
- しかし， もしも 降伏せず， 抗戰するならば， 町を 包圍しなさい．
- あなたの 神， 主はその 町をあなたの 手に 渡されるから， あなたは 男子をことごとく 劍にかけて 擊たねばならない．
- ただし， 女， 子供， 家畜， および 町にあるものはすべてあなたの 分捕り 品として 奪い 取ることができる． あなたは， あなたの 神， 主が 與えられた 敵の 分捕り 品を 自由に 用いることができる．
- このようになしうるのは， 遠く 離れた 町¿に 對してであって， 次に 擧げる 國¿に 屬する 町¿に 對してではない．

- But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth:
- But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee:
- That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should ye sin against the LORD your God.
- When thou shalt besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by forcing an axe against them: for thou mayest eat of them, and thou shalt not cut them down (for the tree of the field is man's life) to employ them in the siege:
- Only the trees which thou knowest that they be not trees for meat, thou shalt destroy and cut them down; and thou shalt build bulwarks against the city that maketh war with thee, until it be subdued.

- あなたの 神， 主が 嗣業として 與えられる 諸國の 民に 屬する 町¿で 息のある 者は， 一人も 生かしておいてはならない．
- ヘト 人， アモリ 人， カナン 人， ペリジ 人， ヒビ 人， エブス 人は， あなたの 神， 主が 命じられたように 必ず 滅ぼし 盡くさねばならない．
- それは， 彼らがその 神¿に 行ってきた， あらゆるいとうべき 行爲をあなたたちに 敎えてそれを 行わせ， あなたたちがあなたたちの 神， 主に 罪を 犯すことのないためである．
- あなたが 町を 攻略しようとして， 長期にわたって 包圍するとき， 斧を 振るってその 町の 木を 切り 盡くしてはならない． 木の 實は 食糧になるから， それを 切り 倒してはならない． 一體， 野の 木はあなたの 前から 城壁に 圍まれた 町に 逃げ ¿む 人間なのか．
- ただ 食用にならないことが 分かっている 木を 切り 盡くし， 切った 木を 用いて 壘を 築き， あなたに 抗戰する 町を 攻め 落としなさい．
