- Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
- And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
- They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
- Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
- And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.

- イエス は， 御自分を 信じた ユダヤ 人たちに 言われた． 「わたしの 言葉にとどまるならば， あなたたちは 本當にわたしの 弟子である．
- あなたたちは 眞理を 知り， 眞理はあなたたちを 自由にする． 」
- すると， 彼らは 言った． 「わたしたちは アブラハム の 子孫です． 今までだれかの 奴隷になったことはありません． 『あなたたちは 自由になる 』とどうして 言われるのですか． 」
- イエス はお 答えになった． 「はっきり 言っておく． 罪を 犯す 者はだれでも 罪の 奴隷である．
- 奴隷は 家にいつまでもいるわけにはいかないが， 子はいつまでもいる．

- If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
- I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
- I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.
- They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
- But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.

- だから， もし 子があなたたちを 自由にすれば， あなたたちは 本當に 自由になる．
- あなたたちが アブラハム の 子孫だということは， 分かっている． だが， あなたたちはわたしを 殺そうとしている． わたしの 言葉を 受け 入れないからである．
- わたしは 父のもとで 見たことを 話している． ところが， あなたたちは 父から 聞いたことを 行っている． 」
- 彼らが 答えて， 「わたしたちの 父は アブラハム です 」と 言うと， イエス は 言われた． 「アブラハム の 子なら， アブラハム と 同じ 業をするはずだ．
- ところが， 今， あなたたちは， 神から 聞いた 眞理をあなたたちに 語っているこのわたしを， 殺そうとしている． アブラハム はそんなことはしなかった．

- Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
- Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
- Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
- Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
- And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

- あなたたちは， 自分の 父と 同じ 業をしている． 」そこで 彼らが， 「わたしたちは 姦淫によって 生まれたのではありません． わたしたちにはただひとりの 父がいます． それは 神です 」と 言うと，
- イエス は 言われた． 「神があなたたちの 父であれば， あなたたちはわたしを 愛するはずである． なぜなら， わたしは 神のもとから 來て， ここにいるからだ． わたしは 自分勝手に 來たのではなく， 神がわたしをお 遣わしになったのである．
- わたしの 言っていることが， なぜ 分からないのか． それは， わたしの 言葉を 聞くことができないからだ．
- あなたたちは， 惡魔である 父から 出た 者であって， その 父の 欲望を 滿たしたいと 思っている． 惡魔は 最初から 人殺しであって， 眞理をよりどころとしていない． 彼の 內には 眞理がないからだ． 惡魔が 僞りを 言うときは， その 本性から 言っている． 自分が 僞り 者であり， その 父だからである．
- しかし， わたしが 眞理を 語るから， あなたたちはわたしを 信じない．

- Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?
- He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
- Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?
- Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.
- And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.

- あなたたちのうち， いったいだれが， わたしに 罪があると 責めることができるのか． わたしは 眞理を 語っているのに， なぜわたしを 信じないのか．
- 神に 屬する 者は 神の 言葉を 聞く． あなたたちが 聞かないのは 神に 屬していないからである． 」
- ユダヤ 人たちが， 「あなたは サマリア 人で 惡靈に 取りつかれていると， 我¿が 言うのも 當然ではないか 」と 言い 返すと，
- イエス はお 答えになった． 「わたしは 惡靈に 取りつかれてはいない． わたしは 父を 重んじているのに， あなたたちはわたしを 重んじない．
- わたしは， 自分の 榮光は 求めていない． わたしの 榮光を 求め， 裁きをなさる 方が， ほかにおられる．

- Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.
- Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.
- Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?
- Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:
- Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.

- はっきり 言っておく． わたしの 言葉を 守るなら， その 人は 決して 死ぬことがない． 」
- ユダヤ 人たちは 言った． 「あなたが 惡靈に 取りつかれていることが， 今はっきりした． アブラハム は 死んだし， 預言者たちも 死んだ． ところが， あなたは， 『わたしの 言葉を 守るなら， その 人は 決して 死を 味わうことがない 』と 言う．
- わたしたちの 父 アブラハム よりも， あなたは 偉大なのか． 彼は 死んだではないか． 預言者たちも 死んだ． いったい， あなたは 自分を 何者だと 思っているのか． 」
- イエス はお 答えになった． 「わたしが 自分自身のために 榮光を 求めようとしているのであれば， わたしの 榮光はむなしい． わたしに 榮光を 與えてくださるのはわたしの 父であって， あなたたちはこの 方について， 『我¿の 神だ 』と 言っている．
- あなたたちはその 方を 知らないが， わたしは 知っている． わたしがその 方を 知らないと 言えば， あなたたちと 同じくわたしも 僞り 者になる． しかし， わたしはその 方を 知っており， その 言葉を 守っている．

- Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
- Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
- Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
- Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

- あなたたちの 父 アブラハム は， わたしの 日を 見るのを 樂しみにしていた． そして， それを 見て， 喜んだのである． 」
- ユダヤ 人たちが， 「あなたは， まだ 五十歲にもならないのに， アブラハム を 見たのか 」と 言うと，
- イエス は 言われた． 「はっきり 言っておく． アブラハム が 生まれる 前から， 『わたしはある． 』」
- すると， ユダヤ 人たちは， 石を 取り 上げ， イエス に 投げつけようとした． しかし， イエス は 身を 隱して， 神殿の 境內から 出て 行かれた．
