- And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
- And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
- Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.
- Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
- And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

- さて， 主の 天使は フィリポ に， 「ここをたって 南に 向かい， エルサレム から ガザ へ 下る 道に 行け 」と 言った． そこは 寂しい 道である．
- フィリポ はすぐ 出かけて 行った． 折から， エチオピア の 女王 カンダケ の 高官で， 女王の 全財産の 管理をしていた エチオピア 人の 宦官が， エルサレム に 禮拜に 來て，
- 歸る 途中であった． 彼は， 馬車に 乘って 預言者 イザヤ の 書を 朗讀していた．
- すると， “靈 ＂が フィリポ に， 「追いかけて， あの 馬車と 一緖に 行け 」と 言った．
- フィリポ が 走り 寄ると， 預言者 イザヤ の 書を 朗讀しているのが 聞こえたので， 「讀んでいることがお 分かりになりますか 」と 言った．

- And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
- The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
- In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
- And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
- Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

- 宦官は， 「手引きしてくれる 人がなければ， どうして 分かりましょう 」と 言い， 馬車に 乘ってそばに 座るように フィリポ に 賴んだ．
- 彼が 朗讀していた 聖書の 個所はこれである． 「彼は， 羊のように 屠り 場に 引かれて 行った． 毛を 刈る 者の 前で 默している 小羊のように， ／口を 開かない．
- 卑しめられて， その 裁きも 行われなかった． だれが， その 子孫について 語れるだろう． 彼の 命は 地上から 取り 去られるからだ． 」
- 宦官は フィリポ に 言った． 「どうぞ 敎えてください． 預言者は， だれについてこう 言っているのでしょうか． 自分についてですか． だれかほかの 人についてですか． 」
- そこで， フィリポ は 口を 開き， 聖書のこの 個所から 說きおこして， イエス について 福音を 告げ 知らせた．

- And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
- And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
- And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
- And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
- But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.

- 道を 進んで 行くうちに， 彼らは 水のある 所に 來た． 宦官は 言った． 「ここに 水があります． 洗禮を 受けるのに， 何か 妨げがあるでしょうか． 」
- ＊ フィリポ が， 「眞心から 信じておられるなら， 差し 支えありません 」と 言うと， 宦官は， 「イエス · キリスト は 神の 子であると 信じます 」と 答えた．
- そして， 車を 止めさせた． フィリポ と 宦官は 二人とも 水の 中に 入って 行き， フィリポ は 宦官に 洗禮を 授けた．
- 彼らが 水の 中から 上がると， 主の 靈が フィリポ を 連れ 去った． 宦官はもはや フィリポ の 姿を 見なかったが， 喜びにあふれて 旅を 續けた．
- フィリポ は アゾト に 姿を 現した． そして， すべての 町を 巡りながら 福音を 告げ 知らせ， カイサリア まで 行った．
