- And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.
- And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,
- Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.
- But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying,
- I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:

- さて， 使徒たちと ユダヤ にいる 兄弟たちは， 異邦人も 神の 言葉を 受け 入れたことを 耳にした．
- ペトロ が エルサレム に 上って 來たとき， 割禮を 受けている 者たちは 彼を 非難して，
- 「あなたは 割禮を 受けていない 者たちのところへ 行き， 一緖に 食事をした 」と 言った．
- そこで， ペトロ は 事の 次第を 順序正しく 說明し 始めた．
- 「わたしが ヤッファ の 町にいて 祈っていると， 我を 忘れたようになって 幻を 見ました． 大きな 布のような 入れ 物が， 四隅でつるされて， 天からわたしのところまで 下りて 來たのです．

- Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
- And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.
- But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.
- But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
- And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.

- その 中をよく 見ると， 地上の ¿， 野¿， 這うもの， 空の 鳥などが 入っていました．
- そして， 『ペトロ よ， 身を 起こし， 屠って 食べなさい 』と 言う 聲を 聞きましたが，
- わたしは 言いました． 『主よ， とんでもないことです． 淸くない 物， 汚れた 物は 口にしたことがありません． 』
- すると， 『神が 淸めた 物を， 淸くないなどと， あなたは 言ってはならない 』と， 再び 天から 聲が 返って 來ました．
- こういうことが 三度あって， また 全部の 物が 天に 引き 上げられてしまいました．

- And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me.
- And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house:
- And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;
- Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.
- And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.

- そのとき， カイサリア からわたしのところに 差し 向けられた ／三人の 人が， わたしたちのいた 家に 到着しました．
- すると， “靈 ＂がわたしに， 『ためらわないで 一緖に 行きなさい 』と 言われました． ここにいる 六人の 兄弟も 一緖に 來て， わたしたちはその 人の 家に 入ったのです．
- 彼は， 自分の 家に 天使が 立っているのを 見たこと， また， その 天使が， こう 告げたことを 話してくれました． 『ヤッファ に 人を 送って， ペトロ と 呼ばれる シモン を 招きなさい．
- あなたと 家族の 者すべてを 救う 言葉をあなたに 話してくれる． 』
- わたしが 話しだすと， 聖靈が 最初わたしたちの 上に 降ったように， 彼らの 上にも 降ったのです．

- Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
- Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
- When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
- Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.
- And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the LORD Jesus.

- そのとき， わたしは， 『ヨハネ は 水で 洗禮を 授けたが， あなたがたは 聖靈によって 洗禮を 受ける 』と 言っておられた 主の 言葉を 思い 出しました．
- こうして， 主 イエス · キリスト を 信じるようになったわたしたちに 與えてくださったのと 同じ 賜物を， 神が 彼らにもお 與えになったのなら， わたしのような 者が， 神がそうなさるのをどうして 妨げることができたでしょうか． 」
- この 言葉を 聞いて 人¿は 靜まり， 「それでは， 神は 異邦人をも 悔い 改めさせ， 命を 與えてくださったのだ 」と 言って， 神を 贊美した．
- ステファノ の 事件をきっかけにして 起こった 迫害のために 散らされた 人¿は， フェニキア ， キプロス ， アンティオキア まで 行ったが， ユダヤ 人以外のだれにも 御言葉を 語らなかった．
- しかし， 彼らの 中に キプロス 島や キレネ から 來た 者がいて， アンティオキア へ 行き， ギリシア 語を 話す 人¿にも 語りかけ， 主 イエス について 福音を 告げ 知らせた．

- And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.
- Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.
- Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.
- For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.
- Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:

- 主がこの 人¿を 助けられたので， 信じて 主に 立ち 歸った 者の 數は 多かった．
- このうわさが エルサレム にある 敎會にも 聞こえてきたので， 敎會は バルナバ を アンティオキア へ 行くように 派遣した．
- バルナバ はそこに 到着すると， 神の 惠みが 與えられた 有樣を 見て 喜び， そして， 固い 決意をもって 主から 離れることのないようにと， 皆に 勸めた．
- バルナバ は 立派な 人物で， 聖靈と 信仰とに 滿ちていたからである． こうして， 多くの 人が 主へと 導かれた．
- それから， バルナバ は サウロ を 搜しに タルソス へ 行き，

- And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
- And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.
- And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.
- Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:
- Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

- 見つけ 出して アンティオキア に 連れ 歸った． 二人は， 丸一年の 間そこの 敎會に 一緖にいて 多くの 人を 敎えた． この アンティオキア で， 弟子たちが 初めて キリスト 者と 呼ばれるようになったのである．
- そのころ， 預言する 人¿が エルサレム から アンティオキア に 下って 來た．
- その 中の 一人の アガボ という 者が 立って， 大飢鴨が 世界中に 起こると “靈 ＂によって 予告したが， 果たしてそれは クラウディウス 帝の 時に 起こった．
- そこで， 弟子たちはそれぞれの 力に 應じて， ユダヤ に 住む 兄弟たちに 援助の 品を 送ることに 決めた．
- そして， それを 實行し， バルナバ と サウロ に 託して 長老たちに 屆けた．
