- Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
- As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
- And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
- So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.
- And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.

- アンティオキア では， そこの 敎會に バルナバ ， ニゲル と 呼ばれる シメオン ， キレネ 人の ルキオ ， 領主 ヘロデ と 一緖に 育った マナエン ， サウロ など， 預言する 者や 敎師たちがいた．
- 彼らが 主を 禮拜し， 斷食していると， 聖靈が 告げた． 「さあ， バルナバ と サウロ をわたしのために 選び 出しなさい． わたしが 前もって 二人に 決めておいた 仕事に 當たらせるために． 」
- そこで， 彼らは 斷食して 祈り， 二人の 上に 手を 置いて 出發させた．
- 聖靈によって 送り 出された バルナバ と サウロ は， セレウキア に 下り， そこから キプロス 島に 向け 船出し，
- サラミス に 着くと， ユダヤ 人の 諸會堂で 神の 言葉を 告げ 知らせた． 二人は， ヨハネ を 助手として 連れていた．

- And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:
- Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.
- But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.
- Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him.
- And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

- 島全體を 巡って パフォス まで 行くと， ユダヤ 人の 魔術師で， バルイエス という 一人の 僞預言者に 出會った．
- この 男は， 地方總督 セルギウス · パウルス という 賢明な 人物と 交際していた． 總督は バルナバ と サウロ を 招いて， 神の 言葉を 聞こうとした．
- 魔術師 エリマ ――彼の 名前は 魔術師という 意味である ――は 二人に 對抗して， 地方總督をこの 信仰から 遠ざけようとした．
- パウロ とも 呼ばれていた サウロ は， 聖靈に 滿たされ， 魔術師をにらみつけて，
- 言った． 「ああ， あらゆる 僞りと 欺きに 滿ちた 者， 惡魔の 子， すべての 正義の 敵， お 前は 主のまっすぐな 道をどうしてもゆがめようとするのか．

- And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.
- Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

- 今こそ， 主の 御手はお 前の 上に 下る． お 前は 目が 見えなくなって， 時が 來るまで 日の 光を 見ないだろう． 」するとたちまち， 魔術師は 目がかすんできて， すっかり 見えなくなり， 步き 回りながら， だれか 手を 引いてくれる 人を 探した．
- 總督はこの 出來事を 見て， 主の 敎えに 非常に 驚き， 信仰に 入った．
