- And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.
- When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.
- And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.
- And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.
- But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

- ある 人¿が ユダヤ から 下って 來て， 「モ ― セ の 慣習に 從って 割禮を 受けなければ， あなたがたは 救われない 」と 兄弟たちに 敎えていた．
- それで， パウロ や バルナバ とその 人たちとの 間に， 激しい 意見の 對立と 論爭が 生じた． この 件について 使徒や 長老たちと 協議するために， パウロ と バルナバ ， そのほか 數名の 者が エルサレム へ 上ることに 決まった．
- さて， 一行は 敎會の 人¿から 送り 出されて， フェニキア と サマリア 地方を 通り， 道すがら， 兄弟たちに 異邦人が 改宗した 次第を 詳しく 傳え， 皆を 大いに 喜ばせた．
- エルサレム に 到着すると， 彼らは 敎會の 人¿， 使徒たち， 長老たちに 歡迎され， 神が 自分たちと 共にいて 行われたことを， ことごとく 報告した．
- ところが， ファリサイ 派から 信者になった 人が 數名立って， 「異邦人にも 割禮を 受けさせて， モ ― セ の 律法を 守るように 命じるべきだ 」と 言った．

- And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.
- And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
- And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
- And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
- Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

- そこで， 使徒たちと 長老たちは， この 問題について 協議するために 集まった．
- 議論を 重ねた 後， ペトロ が 立って 彼らに 言った． 「兄弟たち， ご 存じのとおり， ずっと 以前に， 神はあなたがたの 間でわたしをお 選びになりました． それは， 異邦人が， わたしの 口から 福音の 言葉を 聞いて 信じるようになるためです．
- 人の 心をお 見通しになる 神は， わたしたちに 與えてくださったように 異邦人にも 聖靈を 與えて， 彼らをも 受け 入れられたことを 證明なさったのです．
- また， 彼らの 心を 信仰によって 淸め， わたしたちと 彼らとの 間に 何の 差別をもなさいませんでした．
- それなのに， なぜ 今あなたがたは， 先祖もわたしたちも 負いきれなかった 阿を， あの 弟子たちの 首に 懸けて， 神を 試みようとするのですか．

- But we believe that through the grace of the LORD Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
- Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.
- And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:
- Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.
- And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,

- わたしたちは， 主 イエス の 惠みによって 救われると 信じているのですが， これは， 彼ら 異邦人も 同じことです． 」
- すると 全會衆は 靜かになり， バルナバ と パウロ が， 自分たちを 通して 神が 異邦人の 間で 行われた， あらゆるしるしと 不思議な 業について 話すのを 聞いていた．
- 二人が 話を 終えると， ヤコブ が 答えた． 「兄弟たち， 聞いてください．
- 神が 初めに 心を 配られ， 異邦人の 中から 御自分の 名を 信じる 民を 選び 出そうとなさった 次第については， シメオン が 話してくれました．
- 預言者たちの 言ったことも， これと 一致しています． 次のように 書いてあるとおりです．

- After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
- That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.
- Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.
- Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:
- But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

- 『「その 後， わたしは 戾って 來て， ／倒れた ダビデ の 幕屋を 建て 直す． その 破壞された 所を 建て 直して， ／元どおりにする．
- -18 それは， 人¿のうちの 殘った 者や， ／わたしの 名で 呼ばれる 異邦人が 皆， ／主を 求めるようになるためだ． 」昔から 知らされていたことを 行う 主は， ／こう 言われる． 』

- それで， わたしはこう 判斷します． 神に 立ち 歸る 異邦人を 惱ませてはなりません．
- ただ， 偶像に 供えて 汚れた 肉と， みだらな 行いと， 絞め 殺した 動物の 肉と， 血とを 避けるようにと， 手紙を 書くべきです．

- For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.
- Then pleased it the apostles and elders with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas and Silas, chief men among the brethren:
- And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia.
- Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:
- It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

- モ ― セ の 律法は， 昔からどの 町にも 告げ 知らせる 人がいて， 安息日ごとに 會堂で 讀まれているからです． 」
- そこで， 使徒たちと 長老たちは， 敎會全體と 共に， 自分たちの 中から 人を 選んで， パウロ や バルナバ と 一緖に アンティオキア に 派遣することを 決定した． 選ばれたのは， バルサバ と 呼ばれる ユダ および シラス で， 兄弟たちの 中で 指導的な 立場にいた 人たちである．
- 使徒たちは， 次の 手紙を 彼らに 託した． 「使徒と 長老たちが 兄弟として， アンティオキア と シリア 州と キリキア 州に 住む， 異邦人の 兄弟たちに ¿¿いたします．
- 聞くところによると， わたしたちのうちのある 者がそちらへ 行き， わたしたちから 何の 指示もないのに， いろいろなことを 言って， あなたがたを ¿がせ 動¿させたとのことです．
- それで， 人を 選び， わたしたちの 愛する バルナバ と パウロ とに 同行させて， そちらに 派遣することを， わたしたちは 滿場一致で 決定しました．

- Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.
- For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;
- That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
- So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle:

- この バルナバ と パウロ は， わたしたちの 主 イエス · キリスト の 名のために 身を 獻げている 人たちです．
- それで， ユダ と シラス を 選んで 派遣しますが， 彼らは 同じことを 口頭でも 說明するでしょう．
- 聖靈とわたしたちは， 次の 必要な 事柄以外， 一切あなたがたに 重荷を 負わせないことに 決めました．
- すなわち， 偶像に 獻げられたものと， 血と， 絞め 殺した 動物の 肉と， みだらな 行いとを 避けることです． 以上を 愼めばよいのです． 健康を 祈ります． 」
- さて， 彼ら 一同は 見送りを 受けて 出發し， アンティオキア に 到着すると， 信者全體を 集めて 手紙を 手渡した．

- Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.
- And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.
- And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles.
- Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.
- Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

- 彼らはそれを 讀み， 勵ましに 滿ちた 決定を 知って 喜んだ．
- ユダ と シラス は 預言する 者でもあったので， いろいろと 話をして 兄弟たちを 勵まし 力づけ，
- しばらくここに 滯在した 後， 兄弟たちから 送別の ¿¿を 受けて 見送られ， 自分たちを 派遣した 人¿のところへ 歸って 行った．
- ＊しかし， シラス はそこにとどまることにした．
- しかし， パウロ と バルナバ は アンティオキア にとどまって 敎え， 他の 多くの 人と 一緖に 主の 言葉の 福音を 告げ 知らせた．
