	열왕기하 17:1-18:12 하나님의 말씀을 거역하고 우상 숭배로 점철된 패역한 길을 걷던 북이스라엘은 결국 호세아 왕을 마지막으로 앗수르에 의해 멸망당하고 말았다. 유다 역대 왕 가운데 가장 탁월했던 히스기야 왕이 대대적인 종교 개혁을 단행하고 선정을 베풀었다.

	북이스라엘의 멸망(17:1-17:41)

In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him.

Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him presents.

And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.

Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.

ユダの王アハズの治世第十二年に，エラの子ホシェアがサマリアでイスラエルの王となり，九年間王位にあった．

彼は主の目に惡とされることを行ったが，彼以前のイスラエルの王たちほどではなかった．

アッシリアの王シャルマナサルが攻め上って來たとき，ホシェアは彼に服從して，貢ぎ物を納めた．

In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,

And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.

And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:

ホシェアの治世第九年にサマリアを占領した．彼はイスラエル人を捕らえてアッシリアに連れて行き，ヘラ，ハボル，ゴザン川，メディアの町¿に住ませた．

こうなったのは，イスラエルの人¿が，彼らをエジプトの地から導き上り，エジプトの王ファラオの支配から解放した彼らの神，主に對して罪を犯し，他の神¿を畏れ敬い，

主がイスラエルの人¿の前から追い拂われた諸國の民の風習と，イスラエルの王たちが作った風習に從って步んだからである．

イスラエルの人¿は，自分たちの神，主に對して正しくないことをひそかに行い，見張りの塔から砦の町に至るまで，すべての町に聖なる高台を建て，

どの小高い丘にも，どの茂った木の下にも，石柱やアシェラ像を立て，

And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger:

For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.

Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.

Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.

And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them.

主が彼らの前から移された諸國の民と同じように，すべての聖なる高台で香をたき，惡を行って主の怒りを招いた．

主が，「このようなことをしてはならない」と言っておられたのに，彼らは偶像に仕えたのである．

主はそのすべての預言者，すべての先見者を通して，イスラエルにもユダにもこう警告されていた．「あなたたちは惡の道を離れて立ち歸らなければならない．わたしがあなたたちの先祖に授け，またわたしの僕である預言者たちを通してあなたたちに傳えたすべての律法に從って，わたしの戒めと ¿を守らなければならない．」

しかし彼らは聞き從うことなく，自分たちの神，主を信じようとしなかった先祖たちと同じように，かたくなであった．

彼らは主の ¿と，主が先祖たちと結ばれた契約と，彼らに與えられた定めを拒み，空しいものの後を追って自らも空しくなり，主が同じようにふるまってはならないと命じられたのに，その周圍の諸國の民に倣って步んだ．

And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.

And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.

Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.

And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.

彼らは自分たちの神，主の戒めをことごとく捨て，鑄像，二頭の子牛像を造り，アシェラ像を造り，天の万象にひれ伏し，バアルに仕えた．

息子や娘に火の中を通らせ，占いやまじないを行い，自らを賣り渡して主の目に惡とされることを行い，主の怒りを招いた．

主はイスラエルに對して激しく憤り，彼らを御前から退け，ただユダの部族しか殘されなかった．

ユダもまた自分たちの神，主の戒めを守らず，イスラエルの行っていた風習に從って步んだ．

主はそこでイスラエルのすべての子孫を拒んで苦しめ，侵略者の手に渡し，ついに御前から捨てられた．

For he rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drave Israel from following the LORD, and made them sin a great sin.

For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them;

Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.

And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.

And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the LORD: therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which slew some of them.

主がダビデの家からイスラエルを裂き取られたとき，このイスラエルの人¿はネバトの子ヤロブアムを王としたが，ヤロブアムはイスラエルを主に從わないようにしむけ，彼らに大きな罪を犯させた．

イスラエルの人¿はヤロブアムの犯したすべての罪に從って步み，それを離れなかった．

主はついにその僕であるすべての預言者を通してお告げになっていたとおり，イスラエルを御前から退けられた．イスラエルはその土地からアッシリアに移され，今日に至っている．

アッシリアの王はバビロン，クト，アワ，ハマト，セファルワイムの人¿を連れて來て，イスラエルの人¿に代えてサマリアの住民とした．この人¿がサマリアを占據し，その町¿に住むことになった．

彼らはそこに住み始めたころ，主を畏れ敬う者ではなかったので，主は彼らの中に獅子を送り ¿まれ，獅子は彼らの何人かを殺した．

Wherefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.

Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.

Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD.

Howbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.

And the men of Babylon made Succothbenoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,

彼らはアッシリアの王にこう告げた．「あなたがサマリアの町¿に移り住ませた諸國の民は，この地の神の ¿を知りません．彼らがこの地の神の ¿を知らないので，神は彼らの中に獅子を送り ¿み，獅子は彼らを殺しています．」

アッシリアの王は命じた．「お前たちが連れ去った祭司の一人をそこに行かせよ．その祭司がそこに行って住み，その地の神の ¿を敎えさせよ．」

こうして，サマリアから連れ去られた祭司が一人戾って來てベテルに住み，どのように主を畏れ敬わなければならないかを敎えた．

しかし，諸國の民はそれぞれ自分の神を造り，サマリア人の築いた聖なる高台の家に安置した．諸國の民はそれぞれ自分たちの住む町でそのように行った．

バビロンの人¿はスコト · ベノトの神を造り，クトの人¿はネレガルの神を造り，ハマトの人¿はアシマの神を造り，

And the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.

So they feared the LORD, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.

They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.

Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;

With whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:

アワ人はニブハズとタルタクの神を造り，セファルワイム人は子供を火に投じて，セファルワイムの神¿ アドラメレクとアナメレクにささげた．

彼らは主を畏れ敬ったが，自分たちの中から聖なる高台の祭司たちを立て，その祭司たちが聖なる高台の家で彼らのために勤めを果たした．

このように彼らは主を畏れ敬うとともに，移される前にいた國¿の風習に從って自分たちの神¿にも仕えた．

彼らは今日に至るまで以前からの風習に從って行い，主を畏れ敬うことなく，主がイスラエルという名をお付けになったヤコブの子孫に授けられた ¿，法，律法，戒めに從って行うこともない．

主は彼らと契約を結び，こう戒められた．「他の神¿を畏れ敬ってはならない．これにひれ伏すことも，仕えることも，いけにえをささげることもあってはならない．

But the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.

And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods.

And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods.

But the LORD your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.

Howbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner.

大いなる力と伸ばした腕をもってあなたたちをエジプトの地から導き上った主にのみ畏れを抱き，その前にひれ伏し，いけにえをささげよ．

主があなたたちのために記された ¿と法と律法と戒めを，常に實行するように努めよ．他の神¿を畏れ敬ってはならない．

わたしがあなたたちと結んだ契約を忘れてはならない．他の神¿を畏れ敬ってはならない．

あなたたちの神，主にのみ畏れを抱け．そうすれば，主はすべての敵の手からあなたたちを救い出してくださる．」

しかし，彼らは聞き從わず，ただ以前からの風習に從って行うばかりであった．

So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.

このように，これらの民は主を畏れ敬うとともに，自分たちの偶像にも仕えていた．その子も孫も今日に至るまで先祖が行ったように行っている．

	히스기야의 통치(18:1-18:12)

Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.

Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did.

He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.

He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him.

イスラエルの王，エラの子ホシェアの治世第三年に，ユダの王アハズの子ヒゼキヤが王となった．

彼は二十五歲で王となり，二十九年間エルサレムで王位にあった．その母は名をアビといい，ゼカルヤの娘であった．

彼は，父祖ダビデが行ったように，主の目にかなう正しいことをことごとく行い，

聖なる高台を取り除き，石柱を打ち壞し，アシェラ像を切り倒し，モ ― セの造った靑銅の蛇を打ち ¿いた．イスラエルの人¿は，このころまでこれをネフシュタンと呼んで，これに香をたいていたからである．

彼はイスラエルの神，主に依り賴んだ．その後ユダのすべての王の中で彼のような王はなく，また彼の前にもなかった．

For he clave to the LORD, and departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.

And the LORD was with him; and he prospered whithersoever he went forth: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.

He smote the Philistines, even unto Gaza, and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.

And at the end of three years they took it: even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, that is in the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.

彼は主を固く信賴し，主に背いて離れ去ることなく，主がモ ― セに授けられた戒めを守った．

主は彼と共におられ，彼が何を企てても成功した．彼はアッシリアの王に刃向かい，彼に服從しなかった．

彼はペリシテ人を，ガザとその領域まで，見張りの塔から砦の町まで攻擊した．

ヒゼキヤ王の治世第四年，イスラエルの王，エラの子ホシェアの治世第七年に，アッシリアの王シャルマナサルがサマリアに攻め上って來て，これを包圍し，

三年後に占領した．サマリアが占領されたのは，ヒゼキヤの治世第六年，イスラエルの王ホシェアの第九年であった．

And the king of Assyria did carry away Israel unto Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes:

Because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant, and all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear them, nor do them.

アッシリアの王はイスラエル人を捕らえてアッシリアに連れて行き，ヘラ，ハボル，ゴザン川，メディアの町¿にとどまらせた．

こうなったのは，彼らが自分たちの神，主の御聲に聞き從わず，その契約と，主の僕モ ― セが命じたすべてのことを破ったからである．彼らは聞き從わず，實行しなかった．
