- Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?
- For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.
- So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
- Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
- For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

- それとも， 兄弟たち， わたしは 律法を 知っている 人¿に 話しているのですが， 律法とは， 人を 生きている 間だけ 支配するものであることを 知らないのですか．
- 結婚した 女は， 夫の 生存中は 律法によって 夫に 結ばれているが， 夫が 死ねば， 自分を 夫に 結び 付けていた 律法から 解放されるのです．
- 從って， 夫の 生存中， 他の 男と 一緖になれば， 姦通の 女と 言われますが， 夫が 死ねば， この 律法から 自由なので， 他の 男と 一緖になっても 姦通の 女とはなりません．
- ところで， 兄弟たち， あなたがたも， キリスト の 體に 結ばれて， 律法に 對しては 死んだ 者となっています． それは， あなたがたが， 他の 方， つまり， 死者の 中から 復活させられた 方のものとなり， こうして， わたしたちが 神に 對して 實を 結ぶようになるためなのです．
- わたしたちが 肉に 從って 生きている 間は， 罪へ 誘う 欲情が 律法によって 五體の 中に ¿き， 死に 至る 實を 結んでいました．

- But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
- What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
- But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
- For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
- And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.

- しかし 今は， わたしたちは， 自分を 縛っていた 律法に 對して 死んだ 者となり， 律法から 解放されています． その 結果， 文字に 從う 古い 生き 方ではなく， “靈 ＂に 從う 新しい 生き 方で 仕えるようになっているのです．
- では， どういうことになるのか． 律法は 罪であろうか． 決してそうではない． しかし， 律法によらなければ， わたしは 罪を 知らなかったでしょう． たとえば， 律法が「むさぼるな 」と 言わなかったら， わたしはむさぼりを 知らなかったでしょう．
- ところが， 罪は ¿によって 機會を 得， あらゆる 種類のむさぼりをわたしの 內に 起こしました． 律法がなければ 罪は 死んでいるのです．
- わたしは， かつては 律法とかかわりなく 生きていました． しかし， ¿が 登場したとき， 罪が 生き 返って，
- わたしは 死にました． そして， 命をもたらすはずの ¿が， 死に 導くものであることが 分かりました．

- For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.
- Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
- Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
- For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
- For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.

- 罪は ¿によって 機會を 得， わたしを 欺き， そして， ¿によってわたしを 殺してしまったのです．
- こういうわけで， 律法は 聖なるものであり， ¿も 聖であり， 正しく， そして 善いものなのです．
- それでは， 善いものがわたしにとって 死をもたらすものとなったのだろうか． 決してそうではない． 實は， 罪がその 正體を 現すために， 善いものを 通してわたしに 死をもたらしたのです． このようにして， 罪は 限りなく 邪惡なものであることが， ¿を 通して 示されたのでした．
- わたしたちは， 律法が 靈的なものであると 知っています． しかし， わたしは 肉の 人であり， 罪に 賣り 渡されています．
- わたしは， 自分のしていることが 分かりません． 自分が 望むことは 實行せず， かえって 憎んでいることをするからです．

- If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
- Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
- For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
- For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
- Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

- もし， 望まないことを 行っているとすれば， 律法を 善いものとして 認めているわけになります．
- そして， そういうことを 行っているのは， もはやわたしではなく， わたしの 中に 住んでいる 罪なのです．
- わたしは， 自分の 內には， つまりわたしの 肉には， 善が 住んでいないことを 知っています． 善をなそうという 意志はありますが， それを 實行できないからです．
- わたしは 自分の 望む 善は 行わず， 望まない 惡を 行っている．
- もし， わたしが 望まないことをしているとすれば， それをしているのは， もはやわたしではなく， わたしの 中に 住んでいる 罪なのです．
