- I say again, Let no man think me a fool; if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast myself a little.

- もう 一度言います． だれもわたしを 愚か 者と 思わないでほしい． しかし， もしあなたがたがそう 思うなら， わたしを 愚か 者と 見なすがよい． そうすれば， わたしも 少しは 誇ることができる．
- わたしがこれから 話すことは， 主の 御心に 從ってではなく， 愚か 者のように 誇れると 確信して 話すのです．
- 多くの 者が 肉に 從って 誇っているので， わたしも 誇ることにしよう．
- 賢いあなたがたのことだから， 喜んで 愚か 者たちを 我慢してくれるでしょう．
- 實際， あなたがたはだれかに 奴隷にされても， 食い 物にされても， 取り 上げられても， 橫柄な 態度に 出られても， 顔を 毆りつけられても， 我慢しています．

- I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak. Howbeit whereinsoever any is bold, (I speak foolishly,) I am bold also.
- Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I.

- 言うのも 恥ずかしいことですが， わたしたちの 態度は 弱すぎたのです． だれかが 何かのことであえて 誇ろうとするなら， 愚か 者になったつもりで 言いますが， わたしもあえて 誇ろう．
- 彼らは ヘブライ 人なのか． わたしもそうです． イスラエル 人なのか． わたしもそうです． アブラハム の 子孫なのか． わたしもそうです．
- キリスト に 仕える 者なのか． 氣が 變になったように 言いますが， わたしは 彼ら 以上にそうなのです． 苦勞したことはずっと 多く， 投獄されたこともずっと 多く， 鞭打たれたことは 比較できないほど 多く， 死ぬような 目に 遭ったことも 度¿でした．
- ユダヤ 人から 四十に 一つ 足りない 鞭を 受けたことが 五度．
- 鞭で 打たれたことが 三度， 石を 投げつけられたことが 一度， 難船したことが 三度． 一¿夜海上に 漂ったこともありました．

- In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
- In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

- しばしば 旅をし， 川の 難， 盜賊の 難， 同胞からの 難， 異邦人からの 難， 町での 難， 荒れ 野での 難， 海上の 難， 僞の 兄弟たちからの 難に 遭い，
- 苦勞し， 骨折って， しばしば 眠らずに 過ごし， 飢え 渴き， しばしば 食べずにおり， 寒さに 凍え， 裸でいたこともありました．
- このほかにもまだあるが， その 上に， 日¿わたしに 迫るやっかい 事， あらゆる 敎會についての 心配事があります．
- だれかが 弱っているなら， わたしは 弱らないでいられるでしょうか． だれかがつまずくなら， わたしが 心を 燃やさないでいられるでしょうか．
- 誇る 必要があるなら， わたしの 弱さにかかわる 事柄を 誇りましょう．
