	이사야 39:1-41:29 히스기야의 병이 회복되었다는 소식을 듣고 방문한 바벨론 사신들에게 히스기야는 무기고와 보물고를 보여 주는 교만을 보였다. 이에 이사야는 그 모든 보물을 바벨론에게 빼앗길 것이라고 예언하였다. 또한 하나님의 주권으로 이스라엘은 바벨론 포로 생활에서 해방될 것이라고 하였다.

	바벨론의 사자(39:1-39:8)

At that time Merodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered.

And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.

Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon.

Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.

Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD of hosts:

そのころ，バビロンの王，バルアダンの子メロダク · バルアダンがヒゼキヤに手紙と贈り物を送って來た．病氣であった彼が健康を回復したことを聞いたからである．

ヒゼキヤは使者たちを歡迎し，銀，金，香料，上等の油など寶物庫と，武器庫，倉庫にある一切の物を彼らに見せた．ヒゼキヤが彼らに見せなかったものは，宮中はもとより國中にひとつもなかった．

預言者イザヤはヒゼキヤ王のところに來て，「あの人¿は何を言ったのですか．どこから訪ねて來たのですか」と問うた．ヒゼキヤは，「彼らは遠い國，バビロンから來ました」と答えた．

更に，「彼らは王宮で何を見たのですか」と問うと，ヒゼキヤは，「王宮にあるものは何もかも見ました．倉庫の中のものも見せなかったものは何一つありません」と答えた．

そこでイザヤはヒゼキヤに言った．「万軍の主の言葉を聞きなさい．

Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.

And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

王宮にあるもの，あなたの先祖が今日まで蓄えてきたものが，ことごとくバビロンに運び去られ，何も殘らなくなる日が來る，と主は言われる．

あなたから生まれた息子の中には，バビロン王の宮殿に連れて行かれ，宦官にされる者もある．」

ヒゼキヤはイザヤに，「あなたの告げる主の言葉はありがたいものです」と答えた．彼は，自分の在世中は平和と安定が續くと思っていた．

Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.

Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD's hand double for all her sins.

The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:

And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

慰めよ，わたしの民を慰めよと／あなたたちの神は言われる．

エルサレムの心に語りかけ／彼女に呼びかけよ／苦役の時は今や滿ち，彼女の咎は償われた，と．罪のすべてに倍する報いを／主の御手から受けた，と．

呼びかける聲がある．主のために，荒れ野に道を備え／わたしたちの神のために，荒れ地に廣い道を通せ．

谷はすべて身を起こし，山と丘は身を低くせよ．險しい道は平らに，狹い道は廣い谷となれ．

主の榮光がこうして現れるのを／肉なる者は共に見る．主の口がこう宣言される．

The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:

The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.

The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!

Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.

呼びかけよ，と聲は言う．わたしは言う，何と呼びかけたらよいのか，と．肉なる者は皆，草に等しい．永らえても，すべては野の花のようなもの．

草は枯れ，花はしぼむ．主の風が吹きつけたのだ．この民は草に等しい．

草は枯れ，花はしぼむが／わたしたちの神の言葉はとこしえに立つ．

高い山に登れ／良い知らせをシオンに傳える者よ．力を振るって聲をあげよ／良い知らせをエルサレムに傳える者よ．聲をあげよ，恐れるな／ユダの町¿に告げよ．見よ，あなたたちの神かみ

見よ，主なる神．彼は力を帶びて來られ／御腕をもって統治される．見よ，主のかち得られたものは御もとに從い／主の ¿きの實りは御前を進む．

He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?

With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?

Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.

主は羊飼いとして群れを養い，御腕をもって集め／小羊をふところに抱き，その母を導いて行かれる．

手のひらにすくって海を量り／手の幅をもって天を測る者があろうか．地の塵を升で量り盡くし／山¿を秤にかけ／丘を天秤にかける者があろうか．

主の靈を測りうる者があろうか．主の企てを知らされる者があろうか．

主に助言し，理解させ，裁きの道を敎え／知識を與え，英知の道を知らせうる者があろうか．

見よ，國¿は革袋からこぼれる一滴のしずく／天秤の上の塵と見なされる．島¿は埃ほどの重さも持ちえない．

And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.

All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.

To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?

The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.

He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.

レバノンの森も薪に足りず／その ¿もいけにえに値しない．

主の御前に，國¿はすべて無に等しく／むなしくうつろなものと見なされる．

お前たちは，神を誰に似せ／どのような像に仕立てようというのか．

職人は偶像を鑄て造り／金箔を作ってかぶせ，銀の鎖を付ける．

獻げ物にする桑の木，えり拔きの朽ちない木を／巧みな職人は搜し出し，像を造り，据え付ける．

Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?

It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.

Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.

To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.

お前たちは知ろうとせず聞こうとしないのか／初めから告げられてはいなかったのか／理解していなかったのか，地の基の置かれた樣を．

主は地を覆う大空の上にある御座に着かれる．地に住む者は蟲けらに等しい．主は天をベ ― ルのように廣げ，天幕のように張り／その上に御座を置かれる．

主は諸侯を無に等しいものとし／地を治める者をうつろなものとされる．

彼らは植えられる間もなく，種蒔かれる間もなく／地に根を張る間もなく／風が吹きつけてこれを枯らす．嵐がわらのように卷き上げる．

お前たちはわたしを誰に似せ／誰に比べようとするのか，と聖なる神は言われる．

Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.

Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God?

Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

目を高く上げ，誰が天の万象を創造したかを見よ．それらを數えて，引き出された方／それぞれの名を呼ばれる方の／力の强さ，激しい勢いから逃れうるものはない．

ヤコブよ，なぜ言うのか／イスラエルよ，なぜ斷言するのか／わたしの道は主に隱されている，と／わたしの裁きは神に忘れられた，と．

あなたは知らないのか，聞いたことはないのか．主は，とこしえにいます神／地の果てに及ぶすべてのものの造り主．倦むことなく，疲れることなく／その英知は究めがたい．

疲れた者に力を與え／勢いを失っている者に大きな力を與えられる．

若者も倦み，疲れ，勇士もつまずき倒れようが

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

主に望みをおく人は新たな力を得／鷲のように翼を張って上る．走っても弱ることなく，步いても疲れない．

Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment.

Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow.

He pursued them, and passed safely; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet.

Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.

The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.

島¿よ，わたしのもとに來て靜まれ．國¿の民よ，力を新たにせよ．進み出て語れ．互いに近づいて裁きを行おう．

東からふさわしい人を奮い立たせ，足もとに招き／國¿を彼に渡して，王たちを從わせたのは誰か．この人の劍は彼らを塵のように／弓は彼らをわらのように散らす．

彼は敵を追い，安全に道を進み／彼の足をとどめるものはない．

この事を起こし，成し遂げたのは誰か．それは，主なるわたし．初めから代¿の人を呼び出すもの／初めであり，後の代と共にいるもの．

島¿は畏れをもって仰ぎ／地の果てはおののき，共に近づいて來る．

They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.

So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.

But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

彼らは助け合い，互いに勵ましの聲をかける．

職人は金工を勵まし／大鎚を振るう者は小鎚を使う者を勵ます．ひとりが据え付けて，良しと言うと／ひとりは釘を打って動かないようにする．

わたしの僕イスラエルよ．わたしの選んだヤコブよ．わたしの愛する友アブラハムの末よ．

わたしはあなたを固くとらえ／地の果て，その隅¿から呼び出して言った．あなたはわたしの僕／わたしはあなたを選び，決して見捨てない．

恐れることはない，わたしはあなたと共にいる神．たじろぐな，わたしはあなたの神．勢いを與えてあなたを助け／わたしの救いの右の手であなたを支える．

Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.

Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.

For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.

見よ，あなたに對して怒りを燃やす者は皆／恥を受け，辱められ／爭う者は滅ぼされ，無に等しくなる．

爭いを仕掛ける者は搜しても見いだせず／戰いを挑む者は無に歸し，むなしくなる．

わたしは主，あなたの神．あなたの右の手を固く取って言う／恐れるな，わたしはあなたを助ける，と．

あなたを ·う方，イスラエルの聖なる神／主は言われる．恐れるな，蟲けらのようなヤコブよ／イスラエルの人¿よ，わたしはあなたを助ける．

見よ，わたしはあなたを打穀機とする／新しく，銳く，多くの刃をつけた打穀機と．あなたは山¿を踏み ¿き，丘をもみ殼とする．

Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.

I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:

That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

あなたがそれをあおると，風が卷き上げ／嵐がそれを散らす．あなたは主によって喜び躍り／イスラエルの聖なる神によって誇る．

苦しむ人，貧しい人は水を求めても得ず／渴きに舌は干上がる．主であるわたしが彼らに答えよう．イスラエルの神であるわたしは彼らを見捨てない．

わたしは不毛の高原に大河を開き／谷あいの野に泉を湧き出させる．荒れ野を湖とし／乾いた地を水の源とする．

荒れ野に杉やアカシヤを／ミルトスやオリ ― ブの木を植え／荒れ地に絲杉， ¿，つげの木を共に茂らせる．

彼らはこれを見て，悟り／互いに氣づかせ，目覺めさせる／主の御手がこれを成し遂げ／イスラエルの聖なる神がこれを創造されたことを．

Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.

Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.

Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.

Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.

I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.

訴え出て，爭うがよい，と主は言われる．お前たちの論據を示せ，とヤコブの王は言われる．

起こるべきことをわたしたちに示し，告げてみよ．初めにあったことを告げてみよ．我¿はそれを心に留めよう．あるいは，來るべきことを聞かせてみよ．未來のことを悟るとしよう．

將來にかかわるしるしは何か，告げてみよ．お前たちが神であることを悟るとしよう．良くも惡くも行ってみよ／我¿は共に見せてもらおう．

しかし，お前たちは無に等しく， ¿きはむなしい．お前たちを選ぶ者は忌むべき者だ．

わたしは北から人を奮い立たせ，彼は來る．彼は日の昇るところからわたしの名を呼ぶ．陶工が粘土を踏むように／彼は支配者たちを土くれとして踏みにじる．

Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that sheweth, yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.

The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.

For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.

Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their molten images are wind and confusion.

誰か，初めからこれを告げ／わたしたちに悟らせ，前もって示し／そのとおりだと言わせた者があったか．ひとりとして告げた者はなく，聞かせた者もない．お前たちが言うのを聞いた者もない．

見よ，シオンに初めから告げられていたことは／ここに實現した．エルサレムに良い知らせを傳える者を／遣わそうとして

見回しても，ひとりもいない．彼らの中に，助言を與えうる者はない．彼らに問いかけても，ひと言も返さない．

見よ，彼らはすべて無に等しく，業もむなしい．彼らの鑄た像はすべて，風のようにうつろだ．
