- さて， わたしはあなたがたの 樣子を 知って 力づけられたいので， 間もなく テモテ をそちらに 遣わすことを， 主 イエス によって 希望しています．
- テモテ のようにわたしと 同じ 思いを 抱いて， 親身になってあなたがたのことを 心にかけている 者はほかにいないのです．
- 他の 人は 皆， イエス · キリスト のことではなく， 自分のことを 追い 求めています．
- テモテ が 確かな 人物であることはあなたがたが 認めるところであり， 息子が 父に 仕えるように， 彼はわたしと 共に 福音に 仕えました．
- そこで， わたしは 自分のことの 見通しがつきしだいすぐ， テモテ を 送りたいと 願っています．

- しきりにあなたがた 一同と 會いたがっており， 自分の 病氣があなたがたに 知られたことを 心苦しく 思っているからです．
- 實際， 彼はひん 死の 重病にかかりましたが， 神は 彼を 憐れんでくださいました． 彼だけでなく， わたしをも 憐れんで， 悲しみを 重ねずに 濟むようにしてくださいました．
- そういうわけで， 大急ぎで 彼を 送ります． あなたがたは 再會を 喜ぶでしょうし， わたしも 悲しみが 和らぐでしょう．

- Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation:
- Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.
