- For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
- To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
- Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
- Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.
- And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

- この メルキゼデク は サレム の 王であり， いと 高き 神の 祭司でしたが， 王たちを 滅ぼして 戾って 來た アブラハム を 出迎え， そして 祝福しました．
- アブラハム は， メルキゼデク にすべてのものの 十分の 一を 分け 與えました． メルキゼデク という 名の 意味は， まず「義の 王 」， 次に「サレム の 王 」， つまり「平和の 王 」です．
- 彼には 父もなく， 母もなく， 系圖もなく， また， 生涯の 初めもなく， 命の 終わりもなく， 神の 子に 似た 者であって， 永遠に 祭司です．
- この 人がどんなに 偉大であったかを 考えてみなさい． 族長である アブラハム さえ， 最上の 戰利品の 中から 十分の 一を 獻げたのです．
- ところで， レビ の 子らの 中で 祭司の 職を 受ける 者は， 同じ アブラハム の 子孫であるにもかかわらず， 彼らの 兄弟である 民から 十分の 一を 取るように， 律法によって 命じられています．

- But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.
- And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.
- And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
- And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.
- For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.

- それなのに， レビ 族の 血統以外の 者が， アブラハム から 十分の 一を 受け 取って， 約束を 受けている 者を 祝福したのです．
- さて， 下の 者が 上の 者から 祝福を 受けるのは， 當然なことです．
- 更に， 一方では， 死ぬはずの 人間が 十分の 一を 受けているのですが， 他方では， 生きている 者と 證しされている 者が， それを 受けているのです．
- そこで， 言ってみれば， 十分の 一を 受けるはずの レビ ですら， アブラハム を 通して 十分の 一を 納めたことになります．
- なぜなら， メルキゼデク が アブラハム を 出迎えたとき， レビ はまだこの 父の 腰の 中にいたからです．

- If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
- For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.
- For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.
- For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.
- And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,

- ところで， もし， レビ の 系統の 祭司制度によって， 人が 完全な 狀態に 達することができたとすれば， ――というのは， 民はその 祭司制度に 基づいて 律法を 與えられているのですから ――いったいどうして， アロン と 同じような 祭司ではなく， メルキゼデク と 同じような 別の 祭司が 立てられる 必要があるでしょう．
- 祭司制度に 變更があれば， 律法にも 必ず 變更があるはずです．
- このように 言われている 方は， だれも 祭壇の 奉仕に 携わったことのない 他の 部族に 屬しておられます．
- というのは， わたしたちの 主が ユダ 族出身であることは 明らかですが， この 部族については モ ― セ は， 祭司に 關することを 何一つ 述べていないからです．
- このことは， メルキゼデク と 同じような 別の 祭司が 立てられたことによって， ますます 明らかです．

- Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.
- For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

- この 祭司は， 肉の ¿の 律法によらず， 朽ちることのない 命の 力によって 立てられたのです．
- なぜなら， ／「あなたこそ 永遠に， ／ メルキゼデク と 同じような 祭司である 」と 證しされているからです．
