- James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
- My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
- Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
- But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
- If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

- 神と 主 イエス · キリスト の 僕である ヤコブ が， 離散している 十二部族の 人たちに ¿¿いたします．
- わたしの 兄弟たち， いろいろな 試練に 出會うときは， この 上ない 喜びと 思いなさい．
- 信仰が 試されることで 忍耐が 生じると， あなたがたは 知っています．
- あくまでも 忍耐しなさい． そうすれば， 完全で 申し 分なく， 何一つ 欠けたところのない 人になります．
- あなたがたの 中で 知惠の 欠けている 人がいれば， だれにでも 惜しみなくとがめだてしないでお 與えになる 神に 願いなさい． そうすれば， 與えられます．

- But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
- For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
- A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
- Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:
- But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

- いささかも 疑わず， 信仰をもって 願いなさい． 疑う 者は， 風に 吹かれて ¿れ 動く 海の 波に 似ています．
- そういう 人は， 主から 何かいただけると 思ってはなりません．
- 心が 定まらず， 生き 方全體に 安定を 欠く 人です．
- 貧しい 兄弟は， 自分が 高められることを 誇りに 思いなさい．
- また， 富んでいる 者は， 自分が 低くされることを 誇りに 思いなさい． 富んでいる 者は 草花のように 滅び 去るからです．

- For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
- Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
- Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
- But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
- Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

- 日が 昇り 熱風が 吹きつけると， 草は 枯れ， 花は 散り， その 美しさは 失せてしまいます． 同じように， 富んでいる 者も， 人生の 半ばで 消えうせるのです．
- 試練を 耐え 忍ぶ 人は 幸いです． その 人は 適格者と 認められ， 神を 愛する 人¿に 約束された 命の 冠をいただくからです．
- 誘惑に 遭うとき， だれも， 「神に 誘惑されている 」と 言ってはなりません． 神は， 惡の 誘惑を 受けるような 方ではなく， また， 御自分でも 人を 誘惑したりなさらないからです．
- むしろ， 人はそれぞれ， 自分自身の 欲望に 引かれ， 唆されて， 誘惑に 陷るのです．
- そして， 欲望ははらんで 罪を 生み， 罪が 熟して 死を 生みます．

- Do not err, my beloved brethren.
- Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
- Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

- わたしの 愛する 兄弟たち， 思い 違いをしてはいけません．
- 良い 贈り 物， 完全な 賜物はみな， 上から， 光の 源である 御父から 來るのです． 御父には， 移り 變わりも， 天體の 動きにつれて 生ずる 陰もありません．
- 御父は， 御心のままに， 眞理の 言葉によってわたしたちを 生んでくださいました． それは， わたしたちを， いわば 造られたものの 初穗となさるためです．
