잠언 17:18-17:28

 미련한 자는 뇌물을 받고 온당치 못한 판결을 내리며 의인과 정직한 자를 핍박하여 야웨의 진노의 대상이 되나, 지혜로운 자는 말을 함부로 하지 않는다.
  
 
  1. A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his friend.
  2. He loveth transgression that loveth strife: and he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction.
  3. He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.
  4. He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.
  5. A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
  1. 意志の 弱い 者は 手を 打って 誓い ／その 友のために 證人となる．
  2. 罪を 愛する 者は 爭いを 愛する． 戶口を 高く 開く 者は 破れを 招く．
  3. 心の 曲がった 者は 幸いを 受けない． 舌をもって 欺く 者は 災難に 陷る．
  4. 愚か 者を 生めば 悲しみがあり ／神を 知らない 者の 父に 喜びはない．
  5. 喜びを 抱く 心はからだを 養うが ／靈が 沈みこんでいると 骨まで 枯れる．
  1. A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment.
  2. Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.
  3. A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.
  4. Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity.
  5. He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.
  1. 神に 逆らう 者は 人のふところから 賄賂を 取り ／裁きの 道を 曲げる．
  2. 分別のある 人は 顔を 知惠に 向け ／愚か 者は 目を 地の 果てに 向ける．
  3. 愚かな 息子は 父の 惱みとなり ／産んだ 母の 苦しみとなる．
  4. 神に 從う 人に 罰を 科したり ／高貴な 人をその 正しさのゆえに 打つのは ／いずれも 良いことではない．
  5. 口數を 制する 人は 知識をわきまえた 人． 冷靜な 人には 英知がある．
  1. Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
  1. 無知な 者も 默っていれば 知惠があると 思われ ／唇を 閉じれば 聰明だと 思われる．
