- The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
- Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
- Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
- And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
- Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

- さて， わたしは 長老の 一人として， また， キリスト の 受難の 證人， やがて 現れる 榮光にあずかる 者として， あなたがたのうちの 長老たちに 勸めます．
- あなたがたにゆだねられている， 神の 羊の 群れを 牧しなさい． 强制されてではなく， 神に 從って， 自ら 進んで 世話をしなさい． 卑しい 利得のためにではなく 獻身的にしなさい．
- ゆだねられている 人¿に 對して， 權威を 振り 回してもいけません． むしろ， 群れの 模範になりなさい．
- そうすれば， 大牧者がお 見えになるとき， あなたがたはしぼむことのない 榮冠を 受けることになります．
- 同じように， 若い 人たち， 長老に 從いなさい． 皆互いに 謙遜を 身に 着けなさい． なぜなら， ／「神は， 高慢な 者を 敵とし， ／謙遜な 者には 惠みをお 與えになる 」からです．

- Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
- Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
- Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
- Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
- But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

- だから， 神の 力强い 御手の 下で 自分を 低くしなさい． そうすれば， かの 時には 高めていただけます．
- 思い 煩いは， 何もかも 神にお 任せしなさい． 神が， あなたがたのことを 心にかけていてくださるからです．
- 身を 愼んで 目を 覺ましていなさい． あなたがたの 敵である 惡魔が， ほえたける 獅子のように， だれかを 食い 盡くそうと 探し 回っています．
- 信仰にしっかり 踏みとどまって， 惡魔に 抵抗しなさい． あなたがたと 信仰を 同じくする 兄弟たちも， この 世で 同じ 苦しみに 遭っているのです． それはあなたがたも 知っているとおりです．
- しかし， あらゆる 惠みの 源である 神， すなわち， キリスト · イエス を 通してあなたがたを 永遠の 榮光へ 招いてくださった 神御自身が， しばらくの 間苦しんだあなたがたを 完全な 者とし， 强め， 力づけ， ¿らぐことがないようにしてくださいます．
