	다니엘 6:1-7:28 다리오 왕은 다니엘의 민첩함과 총명함을 보고 그를 세워 전국을 다스리게 하였으나, 이를 시기하는 총리들과 방백들의 음모로 다니엘은 사자굴에 던져졌다. 그러나 그는 하나님의 도우심으로 살아났고, 오히려 그를 참소했던 자들과 그의 가족들이 사자굴에 던져져 죽임을 당하였다. 벨사살 원년에 다니엘은 네 종류의 짐승에 관한 환상을 보았다.

	사자굴 속의 다니엘(6:1-6:28)

It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;

And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.

Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.

Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.

さて，王國を繼いだのは，メディア人ダレイオスであった．彼は旣に六十二歲であった．

ダレイオスは，王國に百二十人の總督を置いて全國を治めさせることにし，

また，王に損失がないようにするため，これらの總督から報告を受ける大臣を三人，その上に置いた．ダニエルはそのひとりであった．

ダニエルには優れた靈が宿っていたので，他の大臣や總督のすべてに傑出していた．王は彼に王國全體を治めさせようとした．

大臣や總督は，政務に關してダニエルを陷れようと口實を探した．しかし，ダニエルは政務に忠實で，何の汚点も怠慢もなく，彼らは訴え出る口實を見つけることができなかった．

Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.

All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.

Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

それで彼らは，「ダニエルを陷れるには，その信じている神の法に關してなんらかの言いがかりをつけるほかはあるまい」と話し合い，

王のもとに集まってこう言った．「ダレイオス王樣がとこしえまでも生き永らえられますように．

王國の大臣，執政官，總督，地方長官，側近ら一同相談いたしまして，王樣に次のような，勅令による禁止事項をお定めいただこうということになりました．すなわち，向こう三十日間，王樣を差し置いて他の人間や神に願い事をする者は，だれであれ獅子の洞窟に投げ ¿まれる，と．

王樣，どうぞこの禁令を出し，その書面に御署名ください．そうすれば，これはメディアとペルシアの法律として變更不可能なものとなり，廢止することはできなくなります．」

ダレイオス王は，その書面に署名して禁令を發布した．

Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.

Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.

Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.

Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed.

ダニエルは王が禁令に署名したことを知っていたが，家に歸るといつものとおり二階の部屋に上がり，エルサレムに向かって開かれた窓際にひざまずき，日に三度の祈りと贊美を自分の神にささげた．

役人たちはやって來て，ダニエルがその神に祈り求／めているのを見屆け，

王の前に進み出，禁令を引き合いに出してこう言った．「王樣，向こう三十日間，王樣を差し置いて他の人間や神に願い事をする者があれば，獅子の洞窟に投げ ¿まれるという勅令に署名をなさったのではございませんか．」王は答えた．「そのとおりだ．メディアとペルシアの法律は廢棄されることはない．」

彼らは王に言った．「王樣，ユダヤからの捕囚の一人ダニエルは，あなたさまをも，署名なさったその禁令をも無視して，日に三度祈りをささげています．」

王はこれを聞いてたいそう惱み，なんとかダニエルを助ける方法はないものかと心を ¿き，救おうとして日の暮れるまで努力した．

Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.

And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.

Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him.

Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.

And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?

役人たちは王のもとに來て言った．「王樣，ご存じのとおり，メディアとペルシアの法律によれば，王による勅令や禁令は一切變更してはならないことになっております．」

それで王は命令を下し，ダニエルは獅子の洞窟に投げ ¿まれることになって引き出された．王は彼に言った．「お前がいつも拜んでいる神がお前を救ってくださるように．」

一つの石が洞窟の入り口に置かれ，王は自分の印と貴族たちの印で封をし，ダニエルに對する處置に變更がないようにした．

王は宮殿に歸ったが，その夜は食を斷ち，側女も近寄らせず，眠れずに過ごし，

夜が明けるやいなや，急いで獅子の洞窟へ行った．

Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.

My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.

Then was the king exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.

And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.

Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.

洞窟に近づくと，王は不安に滿ちた聲をあげて，ダニエルに呼びかけた．「ダニエル，ダニエル，生ける神の僕よ，お前がいつも拜んでいる神は，獅子からお前を救い出す力があったか．」

ダニエルは王に答えた．「王樣がとこしえまでも生き永らえられますように．

神樣が天使を送って獅子の口を閉ざしてくださいましたので，わたしはなんの危害も受けませんでした．神樣に對するわたしの無實が認められたのです．そして王樣，あなたさまに對しても，背いたことはございません．」

王はたいそう喜んで，ダニエルを洞窟から引き出すように命じた．ダニエルは引き出されたが，その身に何の害も受けていなかった．神を信賴していたからである．

王は命令を下して，ダニエルを陷れようとした者たちを引き出させ，妻子もろとも獅子の洞窟に投げ ¿ませた．穴の底にも達しないうちに，獅子は彼らに飛びかかり，骨までもかみ ¿いた．

I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.

He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

ダレイオス王は，全地に住む諸國，諸族，諸言語の人¿に，次のように書き送った．「いっそうの繁榮を願って ¿¿を送る．

わたしは以下のとおりに定める．この王國全域において，すべての民はダニエルの神を恐れかしこまなければならない．この神は生ける神，世¿にいまし／その主權は滅びることなく，その支配は永遠．

この神は救い主，助け主．天にも地にも，不思議な御業を行い／ダニエルを獅子の力から救われた．」

	다니엘의 첫 환상(7:1-7:28)

In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.

Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.

And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.

The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.

And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

バビロンの王ベルシャツァルの治世元年のことである．ダニエルは，眠っているとき頭に幻が浮かび，一つの夢を見た．彼はその夢を記錄することにし，次のように書き起こした．

ある夜，わたしは幻を見た．見よ，天の四方から風が起こって，大海を波立たせた．

すると，その海から四頭の大きな ¿が現れた．それぞれ形が異なり，

第一のものは獅子のようであったが，鷲の翼が生えていた．見ていると，翼は引き拔かれ，地面から起き上がらされて人間のようにその足で立ち，人間の心が與えられた．

第二の ¿は熊のようで，橫ざまに寢て，三本の肋骨を口にくわえていた．これに向かって，「立て，多くの肉を食らえ」という聲がした．

After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.

After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

次に見えたのはまた別の ¿で，豹のようであった．背には鳥の翼が四つあり，頭も四つあって，權力がこの ¿に與えられた．

この夜の幻で更に續けて見たものは，第四の ¿で，ものすごく，恐ろしく，非常に强く，巨大な鐵の齒を持ち，食らい，かみ ¿き，殘りを足で踏みにじった．他の ¿と異なって，これには十本の角があった．

その角を眺めていると，もう一本の小さな角が生えてきて，先の角のうち三本はそのために引き拔かれてしまった．この小さな角には人間のように目があり，また，口もあって尊大なことを語っていた．

なお見ていると，／王座が据えられ／「日の老いたる者」がそこに座した．その衣は雪のように白く／その白髮は淸らかな羊の毛のようであった．その王座は燃える炎／その車輪は燃える火

その前から火の川が流れ出ていた．幾千人が御前に仕え／幾万人が御前に立った．裁き主は席に着き／卷物が繰り廣げられた．

I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.

As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.

I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.

さて，その間にもこの角は尊大なことを語り續けていたが，ついにその ¿は殺され，死體は破壞されて燃え盛る火に投げ ¿まれた．

他の ¿は權力を奪われたが，それぞれの定めの時まで生かしておかれた．

夜の幻をなお見ていると，／見よ，「人の子」のような者が天の雲に乘り／「日の老いたる者」の前に來て，そのもとに進み

權威，威光，王權を受けた．諸國，諸族，諸言語の民は皆，彼に仕え／彼の支配はとこしえに續き／その統治は滅びることがない．

わたしダニエルは大いに憂い，頭に浮かんだこの幻に惱まされた．

I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.

These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.

But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.

Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;

And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.

そこに立っている人の一人に近づいてこれらのことの意味を尋ねると，彼はそれを說明し，解釋してくれた．

「これら四頭の大きな ¿は，地上に起ころうとする四人の王である．

しかし，いと高き者の聖者らが王權を受け，王國をとこしえに治めるであろう．」

更にわたしは，第四の ¿について知りたいと思った．これは他の ¿と異なって，非常に恐ろしく，鐵の齒と靑銅のつめをもち，食らい，かみ ¿き，殘りを足で踏みにじったものである．

その頭には十本の角があり，更に一本の角が生え出たので，十本の角のうち三本が拔け落ちた．その角には目があり，また，口もあって尊大なことを語った．これは，他の角よりも大きく見えた．

I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;

Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.

Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.

And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.

And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

見ていると，この角は聖者らと鬪って勝ったが，

やがて，「日の老いたる者」が進み出て裁きを行い，いと高き者の聖者らが勝ち，時が來て王權を受けたのである．

さて，その人はこう言った．「第四の ¿は地上に興る第四の國／これはすべての國に異なり／全地を食らい盡くし，踏みにじり，打ち ¿く．

十の角はこの國に立つ十人の王／そのあとにもう一人の王が立つ．彼は十人の王と異なり，三人の王を倒す．

彼はいと高き方に敵對して語り／いと高き方の聖者らを惱ます．彼は時と法を變えようとたくらむ．聖者らは彼の手に渡され／一時期，二時期，半時期がたつ．

But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.

And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.

やがて裁きの座が開かれ／彼はその權威を奪われ／滅ぼされ，絶やされて終わる．

天下の全王國の王權，權威，支配の力は／いと高き方の聖なる民に與えられ／その國はとこしえに續き／支配者はすべて，彼らに仕え，彼らに從う．」

ここでその言葉は終わった．わたしダニエルは大層恐れ惱み，顔色も變わるほどであった．しかし，わたしはその言葉を心に留めた．
