	민수기 11:24-13:33 모세는 이스라엘의 불평을 하나님께 호소하였고, 모세의 책임을 분담하기 위해 70인의 장로가 선택되었다. 미리암과 아론은 이방 여인과 결혼한 모세를 비방하였다. 이 일로 인해 미리암은 하나님의 징계를 받아 문둥병에 걸렸으나 모세의 기도로 치유되었다. 가데스 바네아에서 하나님께서 가나안 땅에 열두 정탐꾼을 보내게 하셨다. 이에 가나안 땅을 정탐하고 돌아온 정탐꾼들 중 열 명은 백성들에게 부정적인 보고를 하였으나, 여호수아와 갈렙은 믿음에 근거한 긍정적인 보고를 하였다.

	미리암과 아론의 시기(11:24-12:16)

この時モ ― セは出て，主の言葉を民に告げ，民の長老たち七十人を集めて，幕屋の周圍に立たせた．

主は雲のうちにあって下り，モ ― セと語られ，モ ― セの上にある靈を，その七十人の長老たちにも分け與えられた．その靈が彼らの上にとどまった時，彼らは預言した．ただし，その後は重ねて預言しなかった．

その時ふたりの者が，宿營にとどまっていたが，ひとりの名はエルダデと言い，ひとりの名はメダデといった．彼らの上にも靈がとどまった．彼らは名をしるされた者であったが，幕屋に行かなかったので，宿營のうちで預言した．

時にひとりの若者が走ってきて，モ ― セに告げて言った，「エルダデとメダデとが宿營のうちで預言しています」．

若い時からモ ― セの從者であったヌンの子ヨシュアは答えて言った，「わが主，モ ― セよ，彼らをさし止めてください」．

So Moses went out and told the people what the LORD had said. He brought together seventy of their elders and had them stand around the Tent.

Then the LORD came down in the cloud and spoke with him, and he took of the Spirit that was on him and put the Spirit on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they did not do so again.

However, two men, whose names were Eldad and Medad, had remained in the camp. They were listed among the elders, but did not go out to the Tent. Yet the Spirit also rested on them, and they prophesied in the camp.

A young man ran and told Moses, "Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp."

Joshua son of Nun, who had been Moses' aide since youth, spoke up and said, "Moses, my lord, stop them!"

モ ― セは彼に言った，「あなたは，わたしのためを思って，ねたみを起しているのか．主の民がみな預言者となり，主がその靈を彼らに與えられることは，願わしいことだ」．

こうしてモ ― セはイスラエルの長老たちと共に，宿營に引きあげた．

さて，主のもとから風が起り，海の向こうから，うずらを運んできて，これを宿營の近くに落した．その落ちた範圍は，宿營の周圍で，こちら側も，おおよそ一日の行程，あちら側も，おおよそ一日の行程，地面から高さおおよそ二キュビトであった．

そこで民は立ち上がってその日は終日，その夜は終夜，またその次の日も終日，うずらを集めたが，集める事の最も少ない者も，十ホメルほど集めた．彼らはみな，それを宿營の周圍に廣げておいた．

その肉がなお，彼らの齒の間にあって食べつくさないうちに，主は民にむかって怒りを發し，主は非常に激しい疫病をもって民を擊たれた．

But Moses replied, "Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the LORD's people were prophets and that the LORD would put his Spirit on them!"

Then Moses and the elders of Israel returned to the camp.

Now a wind went out from the LORD and drove quail in from the sea. It brought them down all around the camp to about three feet above the ground, as far as a day's walk in any direction.

All that day and night and all the next day the people went out and gathered quail. No one gathered less than ten homers. Then they spread them out all around the camp.

But while the meat was still between their teeth and before it could be consumed, the anger of the LORD burned against the people, and he struck them with a severe plague.

これによって，その所の名はキブロテ · ハッタワと呼ばれた．欲心を起した民を，そこに埋めたからである．

キブロテ · ハッタワから，民はハゼロテに進み，ハゼロテにとどまった．

Therefore the place was named Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had craved other food.

From Kibroth Hattaavah the people traveled to Hazeroth and stayed there.

モ ― セはクシの女をめとっていたが，そのクシの女をめとったゆえをもって，ミリアムとアロンはモ ― セを非難した．

彼らは言った，「主はただモ ― セによって語られるのか．われわれによっても語られるのではないのか」．主はこれを聞かれた．

モ ― セはその人となり柔和なこと，地上のすべての人にまさっていた．

そこで，主は突然モ ― セとアロン，およびミリアムにむかって「あなたがた三人，會見の幕屋に出てきなさい」と言われたので，彼ら三人は出てきたが，

主は雲の柱のうちにあって下り，幕屋の入口に立って，アロンとミリアムを呼ばれた．彼らふたりが進み出ると，

Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite.

"Has the LORD spoken only through Moses?" they asked. "Hasn't he also spoken through us?" And the LORD heard this.

(Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.)

At once the LORD said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, "Come out to the Tent of Meeting, all three of you." So the three of them came out.

Then the LORD came down in a pillar of cloud; he stood at the entrance to the Tent and summoned Aaron and Miriam. When both of them stepped forward,

彼らに言われた，「あなたがたは，いま，わたしの言葉を聞きなさい．あなたがたのうちに，もし，預言者があるならば，主なるわたしは幻をもって，これにわたしを知らせ，また夢をもって，これと語るであろう．

しかし，わたしのしもべモ ― セとは，そうではない．彼はわたしの全家に忠信なる者である．

彼とは，わたしは口ずから語り，明らかに言って，なぞを使わない．彼はまた主の形を見るのである．なぜ，あなたがたはわたしのしもべモ ― セを恐れず非難するのか」．

主は彼らにむかい怒りを發して去られた．

雲が幕屋の上を離れ去った時，ミリアムは，らい病となり，その身は雪のように白くなった．アロンがふり返ってミリアムを見ると，彼女はらい病になっていた．

he said, "Listen to my words: "When a prophet of the LORD is among you, I reveal myself to him in visions, I speak to him in dreams.

But this is not true of my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my house.

With him I speak face to face, clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?"

The anger of the LORD burned against them, and he left them.

When the cloud lifted from above the Tent, there stood Miriam--leprous, like snow. Aaron turned toward her and saw that she had leprosy;

そこで，アロンはモ ― セに言った，「ああ，わが主よ，わたしたちは愚かなことをして罪を犯しました．どうぞ，その罰をわたしたちに受けさせないでください．

どうぞ彼女を母の胎から肉が半ば滅びうせて出る死人のようにしないでください」．

その時モ ― セは主に呼ばわって言った，「ああ，神よ，どうぞ彼女をいやしてください」．

主はモ ― セに言われた，「彼女の父が彼女の顔につばきしてさえ，彼女は七日のあいだ，恥じて身を隱すではないか．彼女を七日のあいだ，宿營の外で閉じこめておかなければならない．その後，連れもどしてもよい」．

そこでミリアムは七日のあいだ，宿營の外で閉じこめられた．民はミリアムが連れもどされるまでは，道に進まなかった．

and he said to Moses, "Please, my lord, do not hold against us the sin we have so foolishly committed.

Do not let her be like a stillborn infant coming from its mother's womb with its flesh half eaten away."

So Moses cried out to the LORD, "O God, please heal her!"

The LORD replied to Moses, "If her father had spit in her face, would she not have been in disgrace for seven days? Confine her outside the camp for seven days; after that she can be brought back."

So Miriam was confined outside the camp for seven days, and the people did not move on till she was brought back.

その後，民はハゼロテを立って進み，パランの荒野に宿營した．

After that, the people left Hazeroth and encamped in the Desert of Paran.

	가나안 정탐(13:1-13:33)

主はモ ― セに言われた，

「人をつかわして，わたしがイスラエルの人¿に與えるカナンの地を探らせなさい．すなわち，その父祖の部族ごとに，すべて彼らのうちのつかさたる者ひとりずつをつかわしなさい」．

モ ― セは主の命にしたがって，パランの荒野から彼らをつかわした．その人¿はみなイスラエルの人¿のかしらたちであった．

彼らの名は次のとおりである．ルベンの部族ではザックルの子シャンマ，

シメオンの部族ではホリの子シャパテ，

The LORD said to Moses,

"Send some men to explore the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. From each ancestral tribe send one of its leaders."

So at the LORD's command Moses sent them out from the Desert of Paran. All of them were leaders of the Israelites.

These are their names: from the tribe of Reuben, Shammua son of Zaccur;

from the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat son of Hori;

ユダの部族ではエフンネの子カレブ，

イッサカルの部族ではヨセフの子イガル，

エフライムの部族ではヌンの子ホセア，

ベニヤミンの部族ではラフの子パルテ，

ゼブルンの部族ではソデの子ガデエル，

from the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh;

from the tribe of Issachar, Igal son of Joseph;

from the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea son of Nun;

from the tribe of Benjamin, Palti son of Raphu;

from the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel son of Sodi;

ヨセフの部族すなわち，マナセの部族ではスシの子ガデ，

ダンの部族ではゲマリの子アンミエル，

アセルの部族ではミカエルの子セトル，

ナフタリの部族ではワフシの子ナヘビ，

ガドの部族ではマキの子ギウエル．

from the tribe of Manasseh (a tribe of Joseph), Gaddi son of Susi;

from the tribe of Dan, Ammiel son of Gemalli;

from the tribe of Asher, Sethur son of Michael;

from the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi son of Vophsi;

from the tribe of Gad, Geuel son of Maki.

以上はモ ― セがその地を探らせるためにつかわした人¿の名である．そしてモ ― セはヌンの子ホセアをヨシュアと名づけた．

モ ― セは彼らをつかわし，カナンの地を探らせようとして，これに言った，「あなたがたはネゲブに行って，山に登り，

その地の樣子を見，そこに住む民は，强いか弱いか，少ないか多いか，

また彼らの住んでいる地は，良いか惡いか．人¿の住んでいる町¿は，天幕か，城壁のある町か，

その地は，肥えているか，やせているか，そこには，木があるかないかを見なさい．あなたがたは，勇んで行って，その地のくだものを取ってきなさい」．時は，ぶどうの熟し始める季節であった．

These are the names of the men Moses sent to explore the land. (Moses gave Hoshea son of Nun the name Joshua.)

When Moses sent them to explore Canaan, he said, "Go up through the Negev and on into the hill country.

See what the land is like and whether the people who live there are strong or weak, few or many.

What kind of land do they live in? Is it good or bad? What kind of towns do they live in? Are they unwalled or fortified?

How is the soil? Is it fertile or poor? Are there trees on it or not? Do your best to bring back some of the fruit of the land." (It was the season for the first ripe grapes.)

そこで，彼らはのぼっていって，その地をチンの荒野からハマテの入口に近いレホブまで探った．

彼らはネゲブにのぼって，ヘブロンまで行った．そこにはアナクの子孫であるアヒマン，セシャイ，およびタルマイがいた．ヘブロンはエジプトのゾアンよりも七年前に建てられたものである．

ついに彼らはエシコルの谷に行って，そこで一ふさのぶどうの枝を切り取り，これを棒をもって，ふたりでかつぎ，また，ざくろといちじくをも取った．

イスラエルの人¿が，そこで切り取ったぶどうの一ふさにちなんで，その所はエシコルの谷と呼ばれた．

四十日の後，彼らはその地を探り終って歸ってきた．

So they went up and explored the land from the Desert of Zin as far as Rehob, toward Lebo Hamath.

They went up through the Negev and came to Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai and Talmai, the descendants of Anak, lived. (Hebron had been built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

When they reached the Valley of Eshcol, they cut off a branch bearing a single cluster of grapes. Two of them carried it on a pole between them, along with some pomegranates and figs.

That place was called the Valley of Eshcol because of the cluster of grapes the Israelites cut off there.

At the end of forty days they returned from exploring the land.

そして，パランの荒野にあるカデシにいたモ ― セとアロン，およびイスラエルの人¿の全會衆のもとに行って，彼らと全會衆とに復命し，その地のくだものを彼らに見せた．

彼らはモ ― セに言った，「わたしたちはあなたが，つかわした地へ行きました．そこはまことに乳と蜜の流れている地です．これはそのくだものです．

しかし，その地に住む民は强く，その町¿は堅固で非常に大きく，わたしたちはそこにアナクの子孫がいるのを見ました．

またネゲブの地には，アマレクびとが住み，山地にはヘテびと，エブスびと，アモリびとが住み，海べとヨルダンの岸べには，カナンびとが住んでいます」．

そのとき，カレブはモ ― セの前で，民をしずめて言った，「わたしたちはすぐにのぼって，攻め取りましょう．わたしたちは必ず勝つことができます」．

They came back to Moses and Aaron and the whole Israelite community at Kadesh in the Desert of Paran. There they reported to them and to the whole assembly and showed them the fruit of the land.

They gave Moses this account: "We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit.

But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there.

The Amalekites live in the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live near the sea and along the Jordan."

Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, "We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it."

しかし，彼とともにのぼって行った人¿は言った，「わたしたちはその民のところへ攻めのぼることはできません．彼らはわたしたちよりも强いからです」．

そして彼らはその探った地のことを，イスラエルの人¿に惡く言いふらして言った，「わたしたちが行き巡って探った地は，そこに住む者を滅ぼす地です．またその所でわたしたちが見た民はみな背の高い人¿です．

わたしたちはまたそこで，ネピリムから出たアナクの子孫ネピリムを見ました．わたしたちには自分が，いなごのように思われ，また彼らにも，そう見えたに違いありません」．

But the men who had gone up with him said, "We can't attack those people; they are stronger than we are."

And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, "The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size.

We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them."
