- さて イエス は 敎えながら 町¿村¿を 通り 過ぎ， エルサレム へと 旅を 續けられた．
- すると， ある 人が イエス に， 「主よ， 救われる 人は 少ないのですか 」と 尋ねた．
- そこで イエス は 人¿にむかって 言われた， 「狹い 戶口からはいるように 努めなさい． 事實， はいろうとしても， はいれない 人が 多いのだから．
- 家の 主人が 立って 戶を 閉じてしまってから， あなたがたが 外に 立ち 戶をたたき 始めて， 『ご 主人樣， どうぞあけてください 』と 言っても， 主人はそれに 答えて， 『あなたがたがどこからきた 人なのか， わたしは 知らない 』と 言うであろう．
- そのとき， 『わたしたちはあなたとご 一緖に 飮み 食いしました． また， あなたはわたしたちの 大通りで 敎えてくださいました 』と 言い 出しても，

- Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he made his way to Jerusalem.
- Someone asked him, "Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?" He said to them,
- "Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.
- Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, 'Sir, open the door for us.' "But he will answer, 'I don't know you or where you come from.'
- "Then you will say, 'We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.'

- 彼は， 『あなたがたがどこからきた 人なのか， わたしは 知らない． 惡事を ¿く 者どもよ， みんな 行ってしまえ 』と 言うであろう．
- あなたがたは， アブラハム ， イサク ， ヤコブ やすべての 預言者たちが， 神の 國にはいっているのに， 自分たちは 外に 投げ 出されることになれば， そこで 泣き 叫んだり， 齒がみをしたりするであろう．
- それから 人¿が， 東から 西から， また 南から 北からきて， 神の 國で 宴會の 席につくであろう．
- こうしてあとのもので 先になるものがあり， また， 先のものであとになるものもある 」．
- ちょうどその 時， ある パリサイ 人たちが， イエス に 近寄ってきて 言った， 「ここから 出て 行きなさい． ヘロデ があなたを 殺そうとしています 」．

- "But he will reply, 'I don't know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!'
- "There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves thrown out.
- People will come from east and west and north and south, and will take their places at the feast in the kingdom of God.
- Indeed there are those who are last who will be first, and first who will be last."
- At that time some Pharisees came to Jesus and said to him, "Leave this place and go somewhere else. Herod wants to kill you."

- そこで 彼らに 言われた， 「あのきつねのところへ 行ってこう 言え， 『見よ， わたしはきょうもあすも 惡靈を 追い 出し， また， 病氣をいやし， そして 三日目にわざを 終えるであろう．
- しかし， きょうもあすも， またその 次の 日も， わたしは 進んで 行かねばならない． 預言者が エルサレム 以外の 地で 死ぬことは， あり 得ないからである 』．
- ああ， エルサレム ， エルサレム ， 預言者たちを 殺し， おまえにつかわされた 人¿を 石で 打ち 殺す 者よ． ちょうどめんどりが 翼の 下にひなを 集めるように， わたしはおまえの 子らを 幾たび 集めようとしたことであろう． それだのに， おまえたちは 應じようとしなかった．
- 見よ， おまえたちの 家は 見捨てられてしまう． わたしは 言って 置く， 『主の 名によってきたるものに， 祝福あれ 』とおまえたちが 言う 時の 來るまでは， 再びわたしに 會うことはないであろう 」．

- He replied, "Go tell that fox, 'I will drive out demons and heal people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach my goal.'
- In any case, I must keep going today and tomorrow and the next day--for surely no prophet can die outside Jerusalem!
- "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!
- Look, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.'"
