- さて， 取稅人や 罪人たちが 皆， イエス の 話を 聞こうとして 近寄ってきた．
- すると パリサイ 人や 律法學者たちがつぶやいて， 「この 人は 罪人たちを 迎えて 一緖に 食事をしている 」と 言った．
- そこで イエス は 彼らに， この ·をお 話しになった，
- 「あなたがたのうちに， 百匹の 羊を 持っている 者がいたとする． その 一匹がいなくなったら， 九十九匹を 野原に 殘しておいて， いなくなった 一匹を 見つけるまでは 搜し 步かないであろうか．
- そして 見つけたら， 喜んでそれを 自分の 肩に 乘せ，

- Now the tax collectors and "sinners" were all gathering around to hear him.
- But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them."
- Then Jesus told them this parable:
- "Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?
- And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders

- 家に 歸ってきて 友人や 隣り 人を 呼び 集め， 『わたしと 一緖に 喜んでください． いなくなった 羊を 見つけましたから 』と 言うであろう．
- よく 聞きなさい． それと 同じように， 罪人がひとりでも 悔い 改めるなら， 悔改めを 必要としない 九十九人の 正しい 人のためにもまさる 大きいよろこびが， 天にあるであろう．
- また， ある 女が 銀貨十枚を 持っていて， もしその 一枚をなくしたとすれば， 彼女はあかりをつけて 家中を 掃き， それを 見つけるまでは 注意深く 搜さないであろうか．
- そして， 見つけたなら， 女友だちや 近所の 女たちを 呼び 集めて， 『わたしと 一緖に 喜んでください． なくした 銀貨が 見つかりましたから 』と 言うであろう．
- よく 聞きなさい． それと 同じように， 罪人がひとりでも 悔い 改めるなら， 神の 御使たちの 前でよろこびがあるであろう 」．

- and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.'
- I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
- "Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Does she not light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?
- And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.'
- In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

- また 言われた， 「ある 人に， ふたりのむすこがあった．
- ところが， 弟が 父親に 言った， 『父よ， あなたの 財産のうちでわたしがいただく 分をください 』． そこで， 父はその 身代をふたりに 分けてやった．
- それから 幾日もたたないうちに， 弟は 自分のものを 全部とりまとめて 遠い 所へ 行き， そこで 放蕩に 身を 持ちくずして 財産を 使い 果した．
- 何もかも 浪費してしまったのち， その 地方にひどいききんがあったので， 彼は 食べることにも 窮しはじめた．
- そこで， その 地方のある 住民のところに 行って 身を 寄せたところが， その 人は 彼を 畑にやって 豚を 飼わせた．

- Jesus continued: "There was a man who had two sons.
- The younger one said to his father, 'Father, give me my share of the estate.' So he divided his property between them.
- "Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living.
- After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need.
- So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs.

- 彼は， 豚の 食べるいなご 豆で 腹を 滿たしたいと 思うほどであったが， 何もくれる 人はなかった．
- そこで 彼は 本心に 立ちかえって 言った， 『父のところには 食物のあり 余っている 雇人が 大ぜいいるのに， わたしはここで 飢えて 死のうとしている．
- 立って， 父のところへ 歸って， こう 言おう， 父よ， わたしは 天に 對しても， あなたにむかっても， 罪を 犯しました．
- もう， あなたのむすこと 呼ばれる 資格はありません． どうぞ， 雇人のひとり 同樣にしてください 』．
- そこで 立って， 父のところへ 出かけた． まだ 遠く 離れていたのに， 父は 彼をみとめ， 哀れに 思って 走り 寄り， その 首をだいて 接吻した．

- He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.
- "When he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death!
- I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.
- I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired men.'
- So he got up and went to his father. "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

- むすこは 父に 言った， 『父よ， わたしは 天に 對しても， あなたにむかっても， 罪を 犯しました． もうあなたのむすこと 呼ばれる 資格はありません 』．
- しかし 父は 僕たちに 言いつけた， 『さあ， 早く， 最上の 着物を 出してきてこの 子に 着せ， 指輪を 手にはめ， はきものを 足にはかせなさい．
- また， 肥えた 子牛を 引いてきてほふりなさい． 食べて 樂しもうではないか．
- このむすこが 死んでいたのに 生き 返り， いなくなっていたのに 見つかったのだから 』． それから 祝宴がはじまった．
- ところが， 兄は 畑にいたが， 歸ってきて 家に 近づくと， 音樂や 踊りの 音が 聞えたので，

- "The son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.'
- "But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.
- Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate.
- For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate.
- "Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing.

- ひとりの 僕を 呼んで， 『いったい， これは 何事なのか 』と 尋ねた．
- 僕は 答えた， 『あなたのご 兄弟がお 歸りになりました． 無事に 迎えたというので， 父上が 肥えた 子牛をほふらせなさったのです 』．
- 兄はおこって 家にはいろうとしなかったので， 父が 出てきてなだめると，
- 兄は 父にむかって 言った， 『わたしは 何か 年もあなたに 仕えて， 一度でもあなたの 言いつけにそむいたことはなかったのに， 友だちと 樂しむために 子やぎ 一匹も 下さったことはありません．
- それだのに， 遊女どもと 一緖になって， あなたの 身代を 食いつぶしたこのあなたの 子が 歸ってくると， そのために 肥えた 子牛をほふりなさいました 』．

- So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on.
- 'Your brother has come,' he replied, 'and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.'
- "The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him.
- But he answered his father, 'Look! All these years I've been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends.
- But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!'

- すると 父は 言った， 『子よ， あなたはいつもわたしと 一緖にいるし， またわたしのものは 全部あなたのものだ．
- しかし， このあなたの 弟は， 死んでいたのに 生き 返り， いなくなっていたのに 見つかったのだから， 喜び 祝うのはあたりまえである 』」．

- " 'My son,' the father said, 'you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.
- But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' "
