사무엘하 17:15-18:33

 후새의 도움으로 다윗은 무사히 위기를 벗어나 마하나임으로 도피했다. 그러나 끝까지 추격하는 압살롬과 에브라임 숲에서 일대 격전을 벌일 수밖에 없었다. 결국 압살롬은 요압에 의해 비참하게 죽고, 이를 전해 들은 다윗은 매우 슬퍼하였다.
  
  다윗의 피신(17:15-17:29)    
 
  1. そこで ホシャイ は 祭司たち， ザドク と アビヤタル とに 言った， 「アヒトペル は アブサロム と イスラエル の 長老たちのためにこういう 計りごとをした． またわたしはこういう 計りごとをした．
  2. それゆえ， あなたがたはすみやかに 人をつかわして ダビデ に 告げ， 『今夜， 荒野の 渡し 場に 宿らないで， 必ず 渡って 行きなさい． さもないと 王および 共にいる 民はみな， 滅ぼされるでしょう 』と 言いなさい 」．
  3. 時に， ヨナタン と アヒマアズ は エンロゲル で 待っていた． ひとりのつかえめが 行って 彼らに 告げ， 彼らは 行って ダビデ 王に 告げるのが 常であった． それは 彼らが 町にはいるのを 見られないようにするためである．
  4. ところがひとりの 若者が 彼らを 見て アブサロム に 告げたので， 彼らふたりは 急いで 去り， バホリム の， あるひとりの 人の 家にきた． その 人の 庭に 井戶があって， 彼らはその 中に 下ったので，
  5. 女はおおいを 取ってきて 井戶の 口の 上にひろげ， 麥をその 上にまき 散らした． それゆえ ㅱ斬椒 ㅥ흽뤼邙益 밗孚 ㆂ娠淘
  1. Hushai told Zadok and Abiathar, the priests, "Ahithophel has advised Absalom and the elders of Israel to do such and such, but I have advised them to do so and so.
  2. Now send a message immediately and tell David, 'Do not spend the night at the fords in the desert; cross over without fail, or the king and all the people with him will be swallowed up.' "
  3. Jonathan and Ahimaaz were staying at En Rogel. A servant girl was to go and inform them, and they were to go and tell King David, for they could not risk being seen entering the city.
  4. But a young man saw them and told Absalom. So the two of them left quickly and went to the house of a man in Bahurim. He had a well in his courtyard, and they climbed down into it.
  5. His wife took a covering and spread it out over the opening of the well and scattered grain over it. No one knew anything about it.
  1. アブサロム のしもべたちはその 女の 家にきて 言った， 「アヒマアズ と ヨナタン はどこにいますか 」． 女は 彼らに 言った， 「あの 人¿は 小川を 渡って 行きました 」． 彼らは 尋ねたが 見當らなかったので エルサレム に 歸った．
  2. 彼らが 去った 後， 人¿は 井戶から 上り， 行って ダビデ 王に 告げた． すなわち 彼らは ダビデ に 言った， 「立って， すみやかに 川を 渡りなさい． アヒトペル があなたがたに 對してこういう 計りごとをしたからです 」．
  3. そこで ダビデ は 立って， 共にいるすべての 民と 一緖に ヨルダン を 渡った． 夜明けには， ヨルダン を 渡らない 者はひとりもなかった．
  4. アヒトペル は， 自分の 計りごとが 行われないのを 見て， ろばにくらを 置き， 立って 自分の 町に 行き， その 家に 歸った． そして 家の 人に 遺言してみずからくびれて 死に， その 父の 墓に 葬られた．
  5. ダビデ は マハナイム にきた． また アブサロム は 自分と 共にいる イスラエル のすべての 人¿と 一緖に ヨルダン を 渡った．
  1. When Absalom's men came to the woman at the house, they asked, "Where are Ahimaaz and Jonathan?" The woman answered them, "They crossed over the brook." The men searched but found no one, so they returned to Jerusalem.
  2. After the men had gone, the two climbed out of the well and went to inform King David. They said to him, "Set out and cross the river at once; Ahithophel has advised such and such against you."
  3. So David and all the people with him set out and crossed the Jordan. By daybreak, no one was left who had not crossed the Jordan.
  4. When Ahithophel saw that his advice had not been followed, he saddled his donkey and set out for his house in his hometown. He put his house in order and then hanged himself. So he died and was buried in his father's tomb.
  5. David went to Mahanaim, and Absalom crossed the Jordan with all the men of Israel.
  1. アブサロム は アマサ を ヨアブ の 代りに 軍の 長とした． アマサ はかの ナハシ の 娘で ヨアブ の 母 ゼルヤ の 妹である アビガル をめとった イシマエル びと， 名は イトラ という 人の 子である．
  2. そして イスラエル と アブサロム は ギレアデ の 地に 陣取った．
  3. ダビデ が マハナイム にきた 時， アンモン の 人¿のうちの ラバ の ナハシ の 子 ショビ と， ロ · デバル の アンミエル の 子 マキル ， および ロゲリム の ギレアデ びと バルジライ は，
  4. 寢床と 鉢， 土器， 小麥， 大麥， 粉， いり 麥， 豆， レンズ 豆，
  5. 蜜， 凝乳， 羊， 乾酪を ダビデ および 共にいる 民が 食べるために 持ってきた． それは 彼らが， 「民は 荒野で 飢え 疲れかわいている 」と 思ったからである．
  1. Absalom had appointed Amasa over the army in place of Joab. Amasa was the son of a man named Jether, an Israelite who had married Abigail, the daughter of Nahash and sister of Zeruiah the mother of Joab.
  2. The Israelites and Absalom camped in the land of Gilead.
  3. When David came to Mahanaim, Shobi son of Nahash from Rabbah of the Ammonites, and Makir son of Ammiel from Lo Debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite from Rogelim
  4. brought bedding and bowls and articles of pottery. They also brought wheat and barley, flour and roasted grain, beans and lentils,
  5. honey and curds, sheep, and cheese from cows' milk for David and his people to eat. For they said, "The people have become hungry and tired and thirsty in the desert."
 
  압살롬의 죽음(18:1-18:33)    
 
  1. さて ダビデ は 自分と 共にいる 民を 調べて， その 上に 千人の 長， 百人の 長を 立てた．
  2. そして ダビデ は 民をつかわし， 三分の 一を ヨアブ の 手に， 三分の 一を ゼルヤ の 子 ヨアブ の 兄弟 アビシャイ の 手に， 三分の 一を ガテ びと イッタイ の 手にあずけた． こうして 王は 民に 言った， 「わたしもまた 必ずあなたがたと 一緖に 出ます 」．
  3. しかし 民は 言った， 「あなたは 出てはなりません． それはわれわれがどんなに 逃げても， 彼らはわれわれに 心をとめず， われわれの 半ばが 死んでも， われわれに 心をとめないからです． しかしあなたはわれわれの 一万に 等しいのです． それゆえあなたは 町の 中からわれわれを 助けてくださる 方がよろしい 」．
  4. 王は 彼らに 言った， 「あなたがたの 最も 良いと 思うことをわたしはしましょう 」． こうして 王は 門のかたわらに 立ち， 民は 皆あるいは 百人， あるいは 千人となって 出て 行った．
  5. 王は ヨアブ ， アビシャイ および イッタイ に 命じて， 「わたしのため， 若者 アブサロム をおだやかに 扱うように 」と 言った． 王が アブサロム の 事についてすべての 長たちに 命じている 時， 民は 皆聞いていた．
  1. David mustered the men who were with him and appointed over them commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds.
  2. David sent the troops out--a third under the command of Joab, a third under Joab's brother Abishai son of Zeruiah, and a third under Ittai the Gittite. The king told the troops, "I myself will surely march out with you."
  3. But the men said, "You must not go out; if we are forced to flee, they won't care about us. Even if half of us die, they won't care; but you are worth ten thousand of us. It would be better now for you to give us support from the city."
  4. The king answered, "I will do whatever seems best to you." So the king stood beside the gate while all the men marched out in units of hundreds and of thousands.
  5. The king commanded Joab, Abishai and Ittai, "Be gentle with the young man Absalom for my sake." And all the troops heard the king giving orders concerning Absalom to each of the commanders.
  1. こうして 民は イスラエル に 向かって 野に 出て 行き， エフライム の 森で 戰ったが，
  2. イスラエル の 民はその 所で ダビデ の 家來たちの 前に 敗れた． その 日その 所に 戰死者が 多く， 二万に 及んだ．
  3. そして 戰いはあまねくその 地のおもてに 廣がった． この 日， 森の 滅ぼした 者は， つるぎの 滅ぼした 者よりも 多かった．
  4. さて アブサロム は ダビデ の 家來たちに 行き 會った． その 時 アブサロム は ¿馬に 乘っていたが， ¿馬は 大きいかしの 木の， 茂った 枝の 下を 通ったので， アブサロム の 頭がそのかしの 木にかかって， 彼は 天地の 間につりさがった． ¿馬は 彼を 捨てて 過ぎて 行った．
  5. ひとりの 人がそれを 見て ヨアブ に 告げて 言った， 「わたしは アブサロム が， かしの 木にかかっているのを 見ました 」．
  1. The army marched into the field to fight Israel, and the battle took place in the forest of Ephraim.
  2. There the army of Israel was defeated by David's men, and the casualties that day were great--twenty thousand men.
  3. The battle spread out over the whole countryside, and the forest claimed more lives that day than the sword.
  4. Now Absalom happened to meet David's men. He was riding his mule, and as the mule went under the thick branches of a large oak, Absalom's head got caught in the tree. He was left hanging in midair, while the mule he was riding kept on going.
  5. When one of the men saw this, he told Joab, "I just saw Absalom hanging in an oak tree."
  1. ヨアブ はそれを 告げた 人に 言った， 「あなたはそれを 見たというのか． それなら， どうしてあなたは 彼をその 所で， 地に 擊ち 落さなかったのか． わたしはあなたに 銀十 シケル と 帶一筋を 與えたであろうに 」．

  3. もしわたしがそむいて 彼の 命をそこなったのであれば， 何事も 王に 隱れることはありませんから， あなたはみずから 立ってわたしを 責められたでしょう 」．
  4. そこで， ヨアブ は「こうしてあなたと 共にとどまってはおられない 」と 言って， 手に 三筋の 投げやりを 取り， あのかしの 木にかかって， なお 生きている アブサロム の 心臟にこれを 突き 通した．
  5. ヨアブ の 武器を 執る 十人の 若者たちは 取り 卷いて， アブサロム を 擊ち 殺した．
  1. Joab said to the man who had told him this, "What! You saw him? Why didn't you strike him to the ground right there? Then I would have had to give you ten shekels of silver and a warrior's belt."
  2. But the man replied, "Even if a thousand shekels were weighed out into my hands, I would not lift my hand against the king's son. In our hearing the king commanded you and Abishai and Ittai, 'Protect the young man Absalom for my sake. '
  3. And if I had put my life in jeopardy --and nothing is hidden from the king--you would have kept your distance from me."
  4. Joab said, "I'm not going to wait like this for you." So he took three javelins in his hand and plunged them into Absalom's heart while Absalom was still alive in the oak tree.
  5. And ten of Joab's armor-bearers surrounded Absalom, struck him and killed him.
  1. こうして ヨアブ が ラッパ を 吹いたので， 民は イスラエル のあとを 追うことをやめて 歸った． ヨアブ が 民を 引きとめたからである．
  2. 人¿は アブサロム を 取って， 森の 中の 大きな 穴に 投げいれ， その 上にひじょうに 大きい 石塚を 積み 上げた． そして イスラエル はみなおのおのその 天幕に 逃げ 歸った．
  3. さて アブサロム は 生きている 間に， 王の 谷に 自分のために 一つの 柱を 建てた． それは 彼が， 「わたしは 自分の 名を 傳える 子がない 」と 思ったからである． 彼はその 柱に 自分の 名をつけた． その 柱は 今日まで アブサロム の 碑ととなえられている．
  4. さて ザドク の 子 アヒマアズ は 言った， 「わたしは 走って 行って， 主が 王を 敵の 手から 救い 出されたおとずれを 王に 傳えましょう 」．
  5. ヨアブ は 彼に 言った， 「きょうは， おとずれを 傳えてはならない． おとずれを 傳えるのは， ほかの 日にしなさい． きょうは 王の 子が 死んだので， おとずれを 傳えてはならない 」．
  1. Then Joab sounded the trumpet, and the troops stopped pursuing Israel, for Joab halted them.
  2. They took Absalom, threw him into a big pit in the forest and piled up a large heap of rocks over him. Meanwhile, all the Israelites fled to their homes.
  3. During his lifetime Absalom had taken a pillar and erected it in the King's Valley as a monument to himself, for he thought, "I have no son to carry on the memory of my name." He named the pillar after himself, and it is called Absalom's Monument to this day.
  4. Now Ahimaaz son of Zadok said, "Let me run and take the news to the king that the LORD has delivered him from the hand of his enemies."
  5. "You are not the one to take the news today," Joab told him. "You may take the news another time, but you must not do so today, because the king's son is dead."
  1. ヨアブ は クシ びとに 言った， 「行って， あなたの 見た 事を 王に 告げなさい 」． クシ びとは ヨアブ に 禮をして 走って 行った．
  2. ザドク の 子 アヒマアズ は 重ねて ヨアブ に 言った， 「何事があろうとも， わたしにも クシ びとのあとから 走って 行かせてください 」． ヨアブ は 言った， 「子よ， おとずれの 報いを 得られないのに， どうしてあなたは 走って 行こうとするのか 」．
  3. 彼は 言った， 「何事があろうとも， わたしは 走って 行きます 」． ヨアブ は 彼に 言った， 「走って 行きなさい 」． そこで アヒマアズ は 低地の 道を 走って 行き， クシ びとを 追い 越した．
  4. 時に ダビデ は 二つの 門の 間にすわっていた． そして 見張りの 者が 城壁の 門の 屋根にのぼり， 目をあげて 見ていると， ただひとりで 走ってくる 者があった．
  5. 見張りの 者が 呼ばわって 王に 告げたので， 王は 言った， 「もしひとりならば， その 口におとずれがあるであろう 」． その 人は 急いできて 近づいた．
  1. Then Joab said to a Cushite, "Go, tell the king what you have seen." The Cushite bowed down before Joab and ran off.
  2. Ahimaaz son of Zadok again said to Joab, "Come what may, please let me run behind the Cushite." But Joab replied, "My son, why do you want to go? You don't have any news that will bring you a reward."
  3. He said, "Come what may, I want to run." So Joab said, "Run!" Then Ahimaaz ran by way of the plain and outran the Cushite.
  4. While David was sitting between the inner and outer gates, the watchman went up to the roof of the gateway by the wall. As he looked out, he saw a man running alone.
  5. The watchman called out to the king and reported it. The king said, "If he is alone, he must have good news." And the man came closer and closer.
  1. 見張りの 者は， ほかにまたひとり 走ってくるのを 見たので， 門の 方に 呼ばわって 言った， 「見よ， ほかにただひとりで 走って 來る 者があります 」． 王は 言った， 「彼もまたおとずれを 持ってくるのだ 」．
  2. 見張りの 者は 言った， 「まっ 先に 走って 來る 人は ザドク の 子 アヒマアズ のようです 」． 王は 言った， 「彼は 良い 人だ． 良いおとずれを 持ってくるであろう 」．
  3. 時に アヒマアズ は 呼ばわって 王に 言った， 「平安でいらせられますように 」． そして 王の 前に 地にひれ 伏して 言った， 「あなたの 神， 主はほむべきかな． 主は 王， わが 君に 敵して 手をあげた 人¿を 引き 渡されました 」．
  4. 王は 言った， 「若者 アブサロム は 平安ですか 」． アヒマアズ は 答えた， 「ヨアブ がしもべをつかわす 時， わたしは 大きな ¿ぎを 見ましたが， 何事であったか 知りません 」．
  5. 王は 言った， 「わきへ 行って， そこに 立っていなさい 」． 彼はわきへ 行って 立った．
  1. Then the watchman saw another man running, and he called down to the gatekeeper, "Look, another man running alone!" The king said, "He must be bringing good news, too."
  2. The watchman said, "It seems to me that the first one runs like Ahimaaz son of Zadok." "He's a good man," the king said. "He comes with good news."
  3. Then Ahimaaz called out to the king, "All is well!" He bowed down before the king with his face to the ground and said, "Praise be to the LORD your God! He has delivered up the men who lifted their hands against my lord the king."
  4. The king asked, "Is the young man Absalom safe?" Ahimaaz answered, "I saw great confusion just as Joab was about to send the king's servant and me, your servant, but I don't know what it was."
  5. The king said, "Stand aside and wait here." So he stepped aside and stood there.
  1. その 時 クシ びとがきた． そしてその クシ びとは 言った， 「わが 君， 王が 良いおとずれをお 受けくださるよう． 主はきょう， すべてあなたに 敵して 立った 者どもの 手から， あなたを 救い 出されたのです 」．
  2. 王は クシ びとに 言った， 「若者 アブサロム は 平安ですか 」． クシ びとは 答えた， 「王， わが 君の 敵， およびすべてあなたに 敵して 立ち， 害をしようとする 者は， あの 若者のようになりますように 」．
  3. 王はひじょうに 悲しみ， 門の 上のへやに 上って 泣いた． 彼は 行きながらこのように 言った， 「わが 子 アブサロム よ． わが 子， わが 子 アブサロム よ． ああ， わたしが 代って 死ねばよかったのに． アブサロム ， わが 子よ， わが 子よ 」．
  1. Then the Cushite arrived and said, "My lord the king, hear the good news! The LORD has delivered you today from all who rose up against you."
  2. The king asked the Cushite, "Is the young man Absalom safe?" The Cushite replied, "May the enemies of my lord the king and all who rise up to harm you be like that young man."
  3. The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept. As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you--O Absalom, my son, my son!"
