- ダビデ は 老い， その 日が 滿ちたので， その 子 ソロモン を イスラエル の 王とした．
- ダビデ は イスラエル のすべてのつかさおよび 祭司と レビ びとを 集めた．
- レビ びとの 三十歲以上のものを 數えると， その 男の 數が 三万八千人あった．
- ダビデ は 言った， 「そのうち 二万四千人は 主の 家の 仕事をつかさどり， 六千人はつかさびと， およびさばきびととなり，
- 四千人は 門を 守る 者となり， また 四千人はさんびのためにわたしの 造った 樂器で 主をたたえよ 」．

- When David was old and full of years, he made his son Solomon king over Israel.
- He also gathered together all the leaders of Israel, as well as the priests and Levites.
- The Levites thirty years old or more were counted, and the total number of men was thirty-eight thousand.
- David said, "Of these, twenty-four thousand are to supervise the work of the temple of the LORD and six thousand are to be officials and judges.
- Four thousand are to be gatekeepers and four thousand are to praise the LORD with the musical instruments I have provided for that purpose."

- そして ダビデ は 彼らを レビ の 子らにしたがって ゲルション ， コハテ ， メラリ の 組に 分けた．
- ゲルション の 子らは ラダン と シメイ ．
- ラダン の 子らは， かしらの エヒエル と ゼタム と ヨエル の 三人．
- シメイ の 子らは シロミテ ， ハジエル ， ハラン の 三人． これらは ラダン の 氏族の 長であった．
- シメイ の 子らは ヤハテ ， ジナ ， エウシ ， ベリア の 四人． 皆 シメイ の 子で，

- David divided the Levites into groups corresponding to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath and Merari.
- Belonging to the Gershonites: Ladan and Shimei.
- The sons of Ladan: Jehiel the first, Zetham and Joel--three in all.
- The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth, Haziel and Haran--three in all. These were the heads of the families of Ladan.
- And the sons of Shimei: Jahath, Ziza, Jeush and Beriah. These were the sons of Shimei--four in all.

- ヤハテ はかしら， ジザ はその 次， エウシ と ベリア は 子が 多くなかったので， ともに 數えられて 一つの 氏族となった．
- コハテ の 子らは アムラム ， イヅハル ， ヘブロン ， ウジエル の 四人．
- アムラム の 子らは アロン と モ ― セ である． アロン はその 子らとともに， ながくいと 聖なるものを 聖別するために 分かたれて， 主の 前に 香をたき， 主に 仕え， 常に 主の 名をもって 祝福することをなした．
- 神の 人 モ ― セ の 子らは レビ の 部族のうちに 數えられた．
- モ ― セ の 子らは ゲルション と エリエゼル ．

- Jahath was the first and Ziza the second, but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons; so they were counted as one family with one assignment.
- The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel--four in all.
- The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. Aaron was set apart, he and his descendants forever, to consecrate the most holy things, to offer sacrifices before the LORD, to minister before him and to pronounce blessings in his name forever.
- The sons of Moses the man of God were counted as part of the tribe of Levi.
- The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer.

- ゲルション の 子らは， かしらは シブエル ．
- エリエゼル の 子らは， かしらは レハビヤ ． エリエゼル にはこのほかに 子がなかった． しかし レハビヤ の 子らは 非常に 多かった．
- イヅハル の 子らは， かしらは シロミテ ．
- ヘブロン の 子らは 長子は エリヤ ， 次は アマリヤ ， 第三は ヤハジエル ， 第四は エカメアム ．
- ウジエル の 子らは， かしらは ミカ ， 次は イシア である．

- The descendants of Gershom: Shubael was the first.
- The descendants of Eliezer: Rehabiah was the first. Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very numerous.
- The sons of Izhar: Shelomith was the first.
- The sons of Hebron: Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third and Jekameam the fourth.
- The sons of Uzziel: Micah the first and Isshiah the second.

- メラリ の 子らは マヘリ と ムシ ． マヘリ の 子らは エレアザル と キシ ．
- エレアザル は 男の 子がなくて 死に， ただ 娘たちだけであったが， キシ の 子であるその 身內の 男たちが 彼女たちをめとった．
- ムシ の 子らは マヘリ ， エデル ， エレモテ の 三人である．
- これらはその 氏族による レビ の 子孫であって， その 人數が 數えられ， その 名がしるされて， 主の 家の 務をなした 二十歲以上の 者で， 氏族の 長であった．
- ダビデ は 言った， 「イスラエル の 神， 主はその 民に 平安を 與え， ながく エルサレム に 住まわれる．

- The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.
- Eleazar died without having sons: he had only daughters. Their cousins, the sons of Kish, married them.
- The sons of Mushi: Mahli, Eder and Jerimoth--three in all.
- These were the descendants of Levi by their families--the heads of families as they were registered under their names and counted individually, that is, the workers twenty years old or more who served in the temple of the LORD.
- For David had said, "Since the LORD, the God of Israel, has granted rest to his people and has come to dwell in Jerusalem forever,

- レビ びとは 重ねて 幕屋およびその 勤めの 器物をかつぐことはない．
- ―― ダビデ の 最後の 言葉によって， レビ びとは 二十歲以上の 者が 數えられた ――
- 彼らの 務は アロン の 子孫を 助けて 主の 家の ¿きをし， 庭とへやの 仕事およびすべての 聖なるものを 淸めること， そのほか， すべて 神の 家の ¿きをすることである．
- また 供えの パン ， 素祭の 麥粉， 種入れぬ 菓子， 燒いた 供え 物， 油をまぜた 供え 物をつかさどり， またすべて 分量および 大きさを 量ることをつかさどり，
- また 朝ごとに 立って 主に 感謝し， さんびし， 夕にもまたそのようにし，

- the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle or any of the articles used in its service."
- According to the last instructions of David, the Levites were counted from those twenty years old or more.
- The duty of the Levites was to help Aaron's descendants in the service of the temple of the LORD : to be in charge of the courtyards, the side rooms, the purification of all sacred things and the performance of other duties at the house of God.
- They were in charge of the bread set out on the table, the flour for the grain offerings, the unleavened wafers, the baking and the mixing, and all measurements of quantity and size.
- They were also to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD. They were to do the same in the evening

- また 安息日と 新月と 祭日に， 主にもろもろの §祭をささげるときは， 絶えず 主の 前にその 命じられた 數にしたがってささげなければならない．
- このようにして 彼らは 會見の 幕屋と 聖所の 務を 守り， 主の 家の ¿きのためにその 兄弟である アロン の 子らに 仕えなければならない 」．

- and whenever burnt offerings were presented to the LORD on Sabbaths and at New Moon festivals and at appointed feasts. They were to serve before the LORD regularly in the proper number and in the way prescribed for them.
- And so the Levites carried out their responsibilities for the Tent of Meeting, for the Holy Place and, under their brothers the descendants of Aaron, for the service of the temple of the LORD.
