- このようなわけで， ひとりの 人によって， 罪がこの 世にはいり， また 罪によって 死がはいってきたように， こうして， すべての 人が 罪を 犯したので， 死が 全人類にはいり ¿んだのである．
- というのは， 律法以前にも 罪は 世にあったが， 律法がなければ， 罪は 罪として 認められないのである．
- しかし， アダム から モ ― セ までの 間においても， アダム の 違反と 同じような 罪を 犯さなかった 者も， 死の 支配を 免れなかった． この アダム は， きたるべき 者の 型である．
- しかし， 惠みの 賜物は 罪過の 場合とは 異なっている． すなわち， もしひとりの 罪過のために 多くの 人が 死んだとすれば， まして， 神の 惠みと， ひとりの 人 イエス · キリスト の 惠みによる 賜物とは， さらに 豊かに 多くの 人¿に 滿ちあふれたはずではないか．
- かつ， この 賜物は， ひとりの 犯した 罪の 結果とは 異なっている． なぜなら， さばきの 場合は， ひとりの 罪過から， 罪に 定めることになったが， 惠みの 場合には， 多くの 人の 罪過から， 義とする 結果になるからである．

- Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned--
- for before the law was given, sin was in the world. But sin is not taken into account when there is no law.
- Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come.
- But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!
- Again, the gift of God is not like the result of the one man's sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification.

- もし， ひとりの 罪過によって， そのひとりをとおして 死が 支配するに 至ったとすれば， まして， あふれるばかりの 惠みと 義の 賜物とを 受けている 者たちは， ひとりの イエス · キリスト をとおし， いのちにあって， さらに 力强く 支配するはずではないか．
- このようなわけで， ひとりの 罪過によってすべての 人が 罪に 定められたように， ひとりの 義なる 行爲によって， いのちを 得させる 義がすべての 人に 及ぶのである．
- すなわち， ひとりの 人の 不從順によって， 多くの 人が 罪人とされたと 同じように， ひとりの 從順によって， 多くの 人が 義人とされるのである．
- 律法がはいり ¿んできたのは， 罪過の 增し 加わるためである． しかし， 罪の 增し 加わったところには， 惠みもますます 滿ちあふれた．
- それは， 罪が 死によって 支配するに 至ったように， 惠みもまた 義によって 支配し， わたしたちの 主 イエス · キリスト により， 永遠のいのちを 得させるためである．

- For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.
- Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men.
- For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
- The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,
- so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
