	느헤미야 7:1-8:12 느헤미야는 하나니와 하나냐에게 예루살렘 성을 다스리고 지키게 하였다. 그리고 귀환자들의 보계를 얻었다. 이스라엘 백성들이 에스라에게 율법 책 낭독을 요청하였고, 율법을 깨닫게 된 백성들은 하나님께 경배하면서 울며 회개하였다. 느헤미야는 백성들을 위로하면서 하나님의 성일을 기쁨으로 지키게 하였다.

	귀환자 명단(7:1-7:73)

城壁が築かれて，とびらを設け，さらに門衛，歌うたう者およびレビびとを任命したので，

わたしは，わたしの兄弟ハナニと，城のつかさハナニヤに命じて，エルサレムを治めさせた．彼は多くの者にまさって忠信な，神を恐れる者であったからである．

わたしは彼らに言った，「日の暑くなるまではエルサレムのもろもろの門を開いてはならない．人¿が立って守っている間に門を閉じさせ，貫の木を差せ．またエルサレムの住民の中から番兵を立てて，おのおのにその所を守らせ，またおのおのの家と向かい合う所を守らせよ」．

町は廣くて大きかったが，その內の民は少なく，家¿はまだ建てられていなかった．

時に神はわたしの心に，尊い人¿，つかさおよび民を集めて，家系によってその名簿をしらべようとの思いを起された．わたしは最初に上って來た人¿の系圖を發見し，その中にこのようにしるしてあるのを見いだした．

After the wall had been rebuilt and I had set the doors in place, the gatekeepers and the singers and the Levites were appointed.

I put in charge of Jerusalem my brother Hanani, along with Hananiah the commander of the citadel, because he was a man of integrity and feared God more than most men do.

I said to them, "The gates of Jerusalem are not to be opened until the sun is hot. While the gatekeepers are still on duty, have them shut the doors and bar them. Also appoint residents of Jerusalem as guards, some at their posts and some near their own houses."

Now the city was large and spacious, but there were few people in it, and the houses had not yet been rebuilt.

So my God put it into my heart to assemble the nobles, the officials and the common people for registration by families. I found the genealogical record of those who had been the first to return. This is what I found written there:

バビロンの王ネブカデネザルが捕え移した捕囚のうち，ゆるされてエルサレムおよびユダに上り，おのおの自分の町に歸ったこの州の人¿は次のとおりである．

彼らはゼルバベル，エシュア，ネヘミヤ，アザリヤ，ラアミヤ，ナハマニ，モルデカイ，ビルシャン，ミスペレテ，ビグワイ，ネホム，バアナと一緖に歸ってきた者たちである．そのイスラエルの民の人數は次のとおりである．

パロシの子孫は二千百七十二人．

シパテヤの子孫は三百七十二人．

アラの子孫は六百五十二人．

テルメラ，テルハレサ，ケルブ，アドンおよびインメルから上って來た者があったが，その氏族と，血統とを示して，イスラエルの者であることを明らかにすることができなかった．その人¿は次のとおりである．

すなわちデラヤの子孫，トビヤの子孫，ネコダの子孫であって，合わせて六百四十二人．

また祭司のうちにホバヤの子孫，ハッコヅの子孫，バルジライの子孫がある．バルジライはギレアデびとバルジライの娘たちのうちから妻をめとったので，その名で呼ばれた．

これらの者はこの系圖に載った者のうちに，自分の籍をたずねたが，なかったので，汚れた者として祭司の職から除かれた．

總督は彼らに告げて，ウリムとトンミムを帶びる祭司の起るまでは，いと聖なる物を食べてはならぬと言った．

The following came up from the towns of Tel Melah, Tel Harsha, Kerub, Addon and Immer, but they could not show that their families were descended from Israel:

the descendants of Delaiah, Tobiah and Nekoda 642

And from among the priests: the descendants of Hobaiah, Hakkoz and Barzillai (a man who had married a daughter of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by that name).

These searched for their family records, but they could not find them and so were excluded from the priesthood as unclean.

The governor, therefore, ordered them not to eat any of the most sacred food until there should be a priest ministering with the Urim and Thummim.

會衆は合わせて四万二千三百六十人であった．

このほかに男女の奴隷が七千三百三十七人，歌うたう者が男女合わせて二百四十五人あった．

その馬は七百三十六頭，その ¿馬は二百四十五頭，

そのらくだは四百三十五頭，そのろばは六千七百二十頭であった．

氏族の長のうち工事のためにささげ物をした人¿があった．總督は金一千ダリク，鉢五十，祭司の衣服五百三十かさねを倉に納めた．

The whole company numbered 42,360,

besides their 7,337 menservants and maidservants; and they also had 245 men and women singers.

There were 736 horses, 245 mules,

435 camels and 6,720 donkeys.

Some of the heads of the families contributed to the work. The governor gave to the treasury 1,000 drachmas of gold, 50 bowls and 530 garments for priests.

また氏族の長のうちのある人¿は金二万ダリク，銀二千二百ミナを工事のために倉に納めた．

その他の民の納めたものは金二万ダリク，銀二千ミナ，祭司の衣服六十七かさねであった．

こうして祭司，レビびと，門衛，歌うたう者，民のうちのある人¿，宮に仕えるしもべたち，およびイスラエルびとは皆その町¿に住んだ．イスラエルの人¿はその町¿に住んで七月になった．

Some of the heads of the families gave to the treasury for the work 20,000 drachmas of gold and 2,200 minas of silver.

The total given by the rest of the people was 20,000 drachmas of gold, 2,000 minas of silver and 67 garments for priests.

The priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers and the temple servants, along with certain of the people and the rest of the Israelites, settled in their own towns. When the seventh month came and the Israelites had settled in their towns,

	율법 낭독(8:1-8:12)

その時民は皆ひとりのようになって水の門の前の廣場に集まり，主がイスラエルに與えられたモ ― セの律法の書を持って來るように，學者エズラに求めた．

祭司エズラは七月の一日に律法を携えて來て，男女の會衆およびすべて聞いて悟ることのできる人¿の前にあらわれ，

水の門の前にある廣場で，あけぼのから正午まで，男女および悟ることのできる人¿の前でこれを讀んだ．民はみな律法の書に耳を傾けた．

學者エズラはこの事のために，かねて設けた木の台の上に立ったが，彼のかたわらには右の方にマッタテヤ，シマ，アナヤ，ウリヤ，ヒルキヤおよびマアセヤが立ち，左の方にはペダヤ，ミサエル，マルキヤ，ハシュム，ハシバダナ，ゼカリヤおよびメシュラムが立った．

エズラはすべての民の前にその書を開いた．彼はすべての民よりも高い所にいたからである．彼が書を開くと，すべての民は起立した．

all the people assembled as one man in the square before the Water Gate. They told Ezra the scribe to bring out the Book of the Law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded for Israel.

So on the first day of the seventh month Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly, which was made up of men and women and all who were able to understand.

He read it aloud from daybreak till noon as he faced the square before the Water Gate in the presence of the men, women and others who could understand. And all the people listened attentively to the Book of the Law.

Ezra the scribe stood on a high wooden platform built for the occasion. Beside him on his right stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah and Maaseiah; and on his left were Pedaiah, Mishael, Malkijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah and Meshullam.

Ezra opened the book. All the people could see him because he was standing above them; and as he opened it, the people all stood up.

エズラは大いなる神，主をほめ，民は皆その手をあげて，「アァメン，アァメン」と言って答え，こうべをたれ，地にひれ伏して主を拜した．

エシュア，バニ，セレビヤ，ヤミン，アックブ，シャベタイ，ホデヤ，マアセヤ，ケリタ，アザリヤ，ヨザバデ，ハナン，ペラヤおよびレビびとたちは民に律法を悟らせた．民はその所に立っていた．

彼らはその書，すなわち神の律法をめいりょうに讀み，その意味を解き明かしてその讀むところを悟らせた．

總督であるネヘミヤと，祭司であり，學者であるエズラと，民を敎えるレビびとたちはすべての民に向かって「この日はあなたがたの神，主の聖なる日です．嘆いたり，泣いたりしてはならない」と言った．すべての民が律法の言葉を聞いて泣いたからである．

そして彼らに言った，「あなたがたは去って，肥えたものを食べ，甘いものを飮みなさい．その備えのないものには分けてやりなさい．この日はわれわれの主の聖なる日です．憂えてはならない．主を喜ぶことはあなたがたの力です」．

Ezra praised the LORD, the great God; and all the people lifted their hands and responded, "Amen! Amen!" Then they bowed down and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground.

The Levites--Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan and Pelaiah--instructed the people in the Law while the people were standing there.

They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving the meaning so that the people could understand what was being read.

Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who were instructing the people said to them all, "This day is sacred to the LORD your God. Do not mourn or weep." For all the people had been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law.

Nehemiah said, "Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength."

レビびともまたすべての民を靜めて，「泣くことをやめなさい．この日は聖なる日です．憂えてはならない」と言った．

すべての民は去って食い飮みし，また分け與えて，大いに喜んだ．これは彼らが讀み聞かされた言葉を悟ったからである．

The Levites calmed all the people, saying, "Be still, for this is a sacred day. Do not grieve."

Then all the people went away to eat and drink, to send portions of food and to celebrate with great joy, because they now understood the words that had been made known to them.
