- たといわたしが， 人¿の 言葉や 御使たちの 言葉を 語っても， もし 愛がなければ， わたしは， やかましい 鐘や ¿がしい 應鉢と 同じである．
- たといまた， わたしに 預言をする 力があり， あらゆる 奧義とあらゆる 知識とに 通じていても， また， 山を 移すほどの 强い 信仰があっても， もし 愛がなければ， わたしは 無に 等しい．
- たといまた， わたしが 自分の 全財産を 人に 施しても， また， 自分のからだを 燒かれるために 渡しても， もし 愛がなければ， いっさいは 無益である．
- 愛は 寬容であり， 愛は 情深い． また， ねたむことをしない． 愛は 高ぶらない， 誇らない．
- 不作法をしない， 自分の 利益を 求めない， いらだたない， 恨みをいだかない．

- If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
- If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
- If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
- Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
- It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

- 不義を 喜ばないで 眞理を 喜ぶ．
- そして， すべてを 忍び， すべてを 信じ， すべてを 望み， すべてを 耐える．
- 愛はいつまでも 絶えることがない． しかし， 預言はすたれ， 異言はやみ， 知識はすたれるであろう．
- なぜなら， わたしたちの 知るところは 一部分であり， 預言するところも 一部分にすぎない．
- 全きものが 來る 時には， 部分的なものはすたれる．

- Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
- It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
- Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
- For we know in part and we prophesy in part,
- but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.

- わたしたちが 幼な 子であった 時には， 幼な 子らしく 語り， 幼な 子らしく 感じ， また， 幼な 子らしく 考えていた． しかし， おとなとなった 今は， 幼な 子らしいことを 捨ててしまった．
- わたしたちは， 今は， 鏡に 映して 見るようにおぼろげに 見ている． しかしその 時には， 顔と 顔とを 合わせて， 見るであろう． わたしの 知るところは， 今は 一部分にすぎない． しかしその 時には， わたしが 完全に 知られているように， 完全に 知るであろう．
- このように， いつまでも 存續するものは， 信仰と 希望と 愛と， この 三つである． このうちで 最も 大いなるものは， 愛である．

- When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.
- Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
- And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
