- 愛する 者たちよ． わたしは 今この 第二の 手紙をあなたがたに 書きおくり， これらの 手紙によって 記憶を 呼び 起し， あなたがたの 純眞な 心を 奮い 立たせようとした．
- それは， 聖なる 預言者たちがあらかじめ 語った 言葉と， あなたがたの 使徒たちが 傳えた 主なる 救主の 戒めとを， 思い 出させるためである．
- まず 次のことを 知るべきである． 終りの 時にあざける 者たちが， あざけりながら 出てきて， 自分の 欲情のままに 生活し，
- 「主の 來臨の 約束はどうなったのか． 先祖たちが 眠りについてから， すべてのものは 天地創造の 初めからそのままであって， 變ってはいない 」と 言うであろう．
- すなわち， 彼らはこのことを 認めようとはしない． 古い 昔に 天が 存在し， 地は 神の 言によって， 水がもとになり， また， 水によって 成ったのであるが，

- Dear friends, this is now my second letter to you. I have written both of them as reminders to stimulate you to wholesome thinking.
- I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.
- First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.
- They will say, "Where is this 'coming' he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation."
- But they deliberately forget that long ago by God's word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water.

- その 時の 世界は， 御言により 水でおおわれて 滅んでしまった．
- しかし， 今の 天と 地とは， 同じ 御言によって 保存され， 不信仰な 人¿がさばかれ， 滅ぼさるべき 日に 火で 燒かれる 時まで， そのまま 保たれているのである．
- 愛する 者たちよ． この 一事を 忘れてはならない． 主にあっては， 一日は 千年のようであり， 千年は 一日のようである．
- ある 人¿がおそいと 思っているように， 主は 約束の 實行をおそくしておられるのではない． ただ， ひとりも 滅びることがなく， すべての 者が 悔改めに 至ることを 望み， あなたがたに 對してながく 忍耐しておられるのである．
- しかし， 主の 日は 盜人のように 襲って 來る． その 日には， 天は 大音響をたてて 消え 去り， 天體は 燒けてくずれ， 地とその 上に 造り 出されたものも， みな 燒きつくされるであろう．

- By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
- But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.
- The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
- But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.

- このように， これらはみなくずれ 落ちていくものであるから， 神の 日の 到來を 熱心に 待ち 望んでいるあなたがたは，

- as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat.
- But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.
- So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.
- Bear in mind that our Lord's patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him.

- 彼は， どの 手紙にもこれらのことを 述べている． その 手紙の 中には， ところどころ， わかりにくい 箇所もあって， 無學で 心の 定まらない 者たちは， ほかの 聖書についてもしているように， 無理な 解釋をほどこして， 自分の 滅亡を 招いている．
- 愛する 者たちよ． それだから， あなたがたはかねてから 心がけているように， 非道の 者の 惑わしに 誘い ¿まれて， あなたがた 自身の 確信を 失うことのないように 心がけなさい．
- そして， わたしたちの 主また 救主 イエス · キリスト の 惠みと 知識とにおいて， ますます 豊かになりなさい． 榮光が， 今も， また 永遠の 日に 至るまでも， 主にあるように， アァメン ．

- He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.
- Therefore, dear friends, since you already know this, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position.
- But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
