- さて， 一同は エルサレム へ 上る 途上にあったが， イエス が 先頭に 立って 行かれたので， 彼らは 驚き 怪しみ， 從う 者たちは 恐れた． すると イエス はまた 十二弟子を 呼び 寄せて， 自分の 身に 起ろうとすることについて 語りはじめられた，
- 「見よ， わたしたちは エルサレム へ 上って 行くが， 人の 子は 祭司長， 律法學者たちの 手に 引きわたされる． そして 彼らは 死刑を 宣告した 上， 彼を 異邦人に 引きわたすであろう．
- また 彼をあざけり， つばきをかけ， むち 打ち， ついに 殺してしまう． そして 彼は 三日の 後によみがえるであろう 」．
- さて， ゼベダイ の 子 ヤコブ と ヨハネ とが イエス のもとにきて 言った， 「先生， わたしたちがお 賴みすることは， なんでもかなえてくださるようにお 願いします 」．
- イエス は 彼らに「何をしてほしいと， 願うのか 」と 言われた．

- And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him,
- Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles:
- And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.
- And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.
- And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?

- すると 彼らは 言った， 「榮光をお 受けになるとき， ひとりをあなたの 右に， ひとりを 左にすわるようにしてください 」．
- イエス は 言われた， 「あなたがたは 自分が 何を 求めているのか， わかっていない． あなたがたは， わたしが 飮む 杯を 飮み， わたしが 受ける バプテスマ を 受けることができるか 」．
- 彼らは「できます 」と 答えた． すると イエス は 言われた， 「あなたがたは， わたしが 飮む 杯を 飮み， わたしが 受ける バプテスマ を 受けるであろう．
- しかし， わたしの 右， 左にすわらせることは， わたしのすることではなく， ただ 備えられている 人¿だけに 許されることである 」．
- 十人の 者はこれを 聞いて， ヤコブ と ヨハネ とのことで 憤慨し 出した．

- They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.
- But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
- And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:
- But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.
- And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.

- そこで， イエス は 彼らを 呼び 寄せて 言われた， 「あなたがたの 知っているとおり， 異邦人の 支配者と 見られている 人¿は， その 民を 治め， また 偉い 人たちは， その 民の 上に 權力をふるっている．
- しかし， あなたがたの 間では， そうであってはならない． かえって， あなたがたの 間で 偉くなりたいと 思う 者は， 仕える 人となり，
- あなたがたの 間でかしらになりたいと 思う 者は， すべての 人の 僕とならねばならない．
- 人の 子がきたのも， 仕えられるためではなく， 仕えるためであり， また 多くの 人のあがないとして， 自分の 命を 與えるためである 」．

- But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
- But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:
- And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.
- For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
