- もろもろの 民よ， これを 聞け， すべて 世に 住む 者よ， 耳を 傾けよ．
- 低きも 高きも， 富めるも 貧しきも， 共に 耳を 傾けよ．
- わが 口は 知惠を 語り， わが 心は 知識を 思う．
- わたしは 耳をたとえに 傾け， 琴を 鳴らして， わたしのなぞを 解き 明かそう．
- わたしをしえたげる 者の 不義が ／わたしを 取り 圍む 惱みの 日に， どうして 恐れなければならないのか．

- Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:
- Both low and high, rich and poor, together.
- My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.
- I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.
- Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?

- 彼らはおのが 富をたのみ， そのたからの 多いのを 誇る 人¿である．
- まことに 人はだれも 自分をあがなうことはできない． そのいのちの 價を 神に 拂うことはできない．
- とこしえに 生きながらえて， 墓を 見ないために ／そのいのちをあがなうには， あまりに 價高くて， それを 滿足に 拂うことができないからである．

- まことに 賢い 人も 死に， 愚かな 者も， ¿のような 者も， ひとしく 滅んで， その 富を 他人に 殘すことは 人の 見るところである．

- They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;
- None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
- (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)
- That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.
- For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.

- たとい 彼らはその 地を 自分の 名をもって 呼んでも， 墓こそ 彼らのとこしえのすまい， 世¿彼らのすみかである．
- 人は 榮華のうちに 長くとどまることはできない， 滅びうせる ¿にひとしい．

- Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.
- Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.
