- するとそこへ， ある 律法學者が 現れ， イエス を 試みようとして 言った， 「先生， 何をしたら 永遠の 生命が 受けられましょうか 」．
- 彼に 言われた， 「律法にはなんと 書いてあるか． あなたはどう 讀むか 」．
- 彼は 答えて 言った， 「『心をつくし， 精神をつくし， 力をつくし， 思いをつくして， 主なるあなたの 神を 愛せよ 』． また， 『自分を 愛するように， あなたの 隣り 人を 愛せよ 』とあります 」．
- 彼に 言われた， 「あなたの 答は 正しい． そのとおり 行いなさい． そうすれば， いのちが 得られる 」．
- すると 彼は 自分の 立場を 弁護しようと 思って， イエス に 言った， 「では， わたしの 隣り 人とはだれのことですか 」．

- And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
- He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
- And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
- And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
- But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

- イエス が 答えて 言われた， 「ある 人が エルサレム から エリコ に 下って 行く 途中， 强盜どもが 彼を 襲い， その 着物をはぎ 取り， 傷を 負わせ， 半殺しにしたまま， 逃げ 去った．
- するとたまたま， ひとりの 祭司がその 道を 下ってきたが， この 人を 見ると， 向こう 側を 通って 行った．
- 同樣に， レビ 人もこの 場所にさしかかってきたが， 彼を 見ると 向こう 側を 通って 行った．
- ところが， ある サマリヤ 人が 旅をしてこの 人のところを 通りかかり， 彼を 見て 氣の 毒に 思い，
- 近寄ってきてその 傷に オリブ 油とぶどう 酒とを 注いでほうたいをしてやり， 自分の 家畜に 乘せ， 宿屋に 連れて 行って 介抱した．

- And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
- And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
- And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
- But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
- And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

- 翌日， デナリ 二つを 取り 出して 宿屋の 主人に 手渡し， 『この 人を 見てやってください． 費用がよけいにかかったら， 歸りがけに， わたしが 支拂います 』と 言った．
- この 三人のうち， だれが 强盜に 襲われた 人の 隣り 人になったと 思うか 」．
- 彼が 言った， 「その 人に 慈悲深い 行いをした 人です 」． そこで イエス は 言われた， 「あなたも 行って 同じようにしなさい 」．

- And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
- Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
- And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.
