- 客に 招かれた 者たちが 上座を 選んでいる 樣子をごらんになって， 彼らに 一つの ·を 語られた．
- 「婚宴に 招かれたときには， 上座につくな． あるいは， あなたよりも 身分の 高い 人が 招かれているかも 知れない．
- その 場合， あなたとその 人とを 招いた 者がきて， 『このかたに 座を 讓ってください 』と 言うであろう． そのとき， あなたは 恥じ 入って 末座につくことになるであろう．
- むしろ， 招かれた 場合には， 末座に 行ってすわりなさい． そうすれば， 招いてくれた 人がきて， 『友よ， 上座の 方へお 進みください 』と 言うであろう． そのとき， あなたは 席を 共にするみんなの 前で， 面目をほどこすことになるであろう．
- おおよそ， 自分を 高くする 者は 低くされ， 自分を 低くする 者は 高くされるであろう 」．

- And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them.
- When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;
- And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.
- But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
- For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

- また， イエス は 自分を 招いた 人に 言われた， 「午餐または 晩餐の 席を 設ける 場合には， 友人， 兄弟， 親族， 金持の 隣り 人などは 呼ばぬがよい． 恐らく 彼らもあなたを 招きかえし， それであなたは 返禮を 受けることになるから．
- むしろ， 宴會を 催す 場合には， 貧しい 人， 體の 不自由な 人， 足の 惡い 人， 目の 見えない 人などを 招くがよい．
- そうすれば， 彼らは 返禮ができないから， あなたはさいわいになるであろう． 正しい 人¿の 復活の 際には， あなたは 報いられるであろう 」．
- 列席者のひとりがこれを 聞いて イエス に「神の 國で 食事をする 人は， さいわいです 」と 言った．
- そこで イエス が 言われた， 「ある 人が 盛大な 晩餐會を 催して， 大ぜいの 人を 招いた．

- Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.
- But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
- And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.
- And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.
- Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:

- 晩餐の 時刻になったので， 招いておいた 人たちのもとに 僕を 送って， 『さあ， おいでください． もう 準備ができましたから 』と 言わせた．
- ところが， みんな 一樣に 斷りはじめた． 最初の 人は， 『わたしは 土地を 買いましたので， 行って 見なければなりません． どうぞ， おゆるしください 』と 言った．
- ほかの 人は， 『わたしは 五對の 牛を 買いましたので， それをしらべに 行くところです． どうぞ， おゆるしください 』，
- もうひとりの 人は， 『わたしは 妻をめとりましたので， 參ることができません 』と 言った．
- 僕は 歸ってきて， 以上の 事を 主人に 報告した． すると 家の 主人はおこって 僕に 言った， 『いますぐに， 町の 大通りや 小道へ 行って， 貧しい 人， 體の 不自由な 人， 目の 見えない 人， 足の 惡い 人などを， ここへ 連れてきなさい 』．

- And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.
- And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
- And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.
- And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
- So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.

- 僕は 言った， 『ご 主人樣， 仰せのとおりにいたしましたが， まだ 席がございます 』．
- 主人が 僕に 言った， 『道やかきねのあたりに 出て 行って， この 家がいっぱいになるように， 人¿を 無理やりにひっぱってきなさい．
- あなたがたに 言って 置くが， 招かれた 人で， わたしの 晩餐にあずかる 者はひとりもないであろう 』」．

- And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
- And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
- For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
