	신명기 29:1-30:20 모세는 하나님께서 그들을 구원하신 사건을 회고하면서 모든 백성에게 언약을 충실히 지키라고 권고했다. 그는 만일 백성들이 그 언약을 어기면 하나님의 진노가 임해서 그 언약의 땅에서 쫓겨날 것이나, 그들이 마음을 돌이켜 다시 하나님께 돌아오면 하나님께서 그들을 맞아 주실 것임을 선포했다.

	모압에서 맺은 언약(29:1-29:29)

これは主がモ ― セに命じて，モアブの地でイスラエルの人¿と結ばせられた契約の言葉であって，ホレブで彼らと結ばれた契約のほかのものである．

モ ― セはイスラエルのすべての人を呼び集めて言った，「あなたがたは主がエジプトの地で，パロと，そのすべての家來と，その全地とにせられたすべての事をまのあたり見た．

すなわちその大きな試みと，しるしと，大きな不思議とをまのあたり見たのである．

しかし，今日まで主はあなたがたの心に悟らせず，目に見させず，耳に聞かせられなかった．

わたしは四十年の間，あなたがたを導いて荒野を通らせたが，あなたがたの身につけた着物は古びず，足のくつは古びなかった．

These are the words of the covenant, which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.

And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;

The great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles:

Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.

And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot.

あなたがたはまたパンも食べず，ぶどう酒も濃い酒も飮まなかった．こうしてあなたがたは，わたしがあなたがたの神，主であることを知るに至った．

あなたがたがこの所にきたとき，ヘシボンの王シホンと，バシャンの王オグがわれわれを迎えて戰ったが，われわれは彼らを擊ち敗って，

Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I am the LORD your God.

And when ye came unto this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us unto battle, and we smote them:

And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh.

Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.

Ye stand this day all of you before the LORD your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,

あなたがたの小さい者たちも，妻たちも，宿營のうちに寄留している他國人も，あなたのために，たきぎを割る者も，水をくむ者も，みな主の前に立って，

あなたの神，主が，きょう，あなたと結ばれるあなたの神，主の契約と誓いとに，はいろうとしている．

これは主がさきにあなたに約束されたように，またあなたの先祖アブラハム，イサク，ヤコブに誓われたように，きょう，あなたを立てて自分の民とし，またみずからあなたの神となられるためである．

わたしはただあなたがたとだけ，この契約と誓いとを結ぶのではない．

きょう，ここで，われわれの神，主の前にわれわれと共に立っている者ならびに，きょう，ここにわれわれと共にいない者とも結ぶのである．

Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:

That thou shouldest enter into covenant with the LORD thy God, and into his oath, which the LORD thy God maketh with thee this day:

That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;

But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:

われわれがどのようにエジプトの國に住んでいたか，どのように國¿の民の中を通ってきたか，それはあなたがたが知っている．

またあなたがたは木や石や銀や金で造った憎むべき物と偶像とが，彼らのうちにあるのを見た．

それゆえ，あなたがたのうちに，きょう，その心にわれわれの神，主を離れてそれらの國民の神¿に行って仕える男や女，氏族や部族があってはならない．またあなたがたのうちに，毒草や，にがよもぎを生ずる根があってはならない．

そのような人はこの誓いの言葉を聞いても，心に自分を祝福して『心をかたくなにして步んでもわたしには平安がある』と言うであろう．そうすれば潤った者も，かわいた者もひとしく滅びるであろう．

主はそのような人をゆるすことを好まれない．かえって主はその人に怒りとねたみを發し，この書物にしるされたすべてののろいを彼の上に加え，主はついにその人の名を天の下から消し去られるであろう．

(For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which ye passed by;

And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:)

Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;

And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:

The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.

主はイスラエルのすべての部族のうちからその人を區別して災をくだし，この律法の書にしるされた契約の中のもろもろののろいのようにされるであろう．

後の代の人，すなわちあなたがたののちに起るあなたがたの子孫および遠い國から來る外國人は，この地の災を見，主がこの地にくだされた病氣を見て言うであろう．

――全地は硫黃となり，鹽となり，燒け土となって，種もまかれず，實も結ばず，なんの草も生じなくなって，むかし主が怒りと憤りをもって滅ぼされたソドム，ゴモラ，アデマ，ゼボイムの破滅のようである． ――

すなわち，もろもろの國民は言うであろう，『なぜ，主はこの地にこのようなことをされたのか．この激しい大いなる怒りは何ゆえか』．

そのとき人¿は言うであろう，『彼らはその先祖の神，主がエジプトの國から彼らを導き出して彼らと結ばれた契約をすて，

And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law:

So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD hath laid upon it;

And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:

Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?

Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt:

行って彼らの知らない，また授からない，ほかの神¿に仕えて，それを拜んだからである．

それゆえ主はこの地にむかって怒りを發し，この書物にしるされたもろもろののろいをこれにくだし，

そして主は怒りと，はげしい怒りと大いなる憤りとをもって彼らをこの地から拔き取って，ほかの國に投げやられた．今日見るとおりである』．

隱れた事はわれわれの神，主に屬するものである．しかし表わされたことは長くわれわれとわれわれの子孫に屬し，われわれにこの律法のすべての言葉を行わせるのである．

For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them:

And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book:

And the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.

The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

	회개에 따르는 복(30:1-30:20)

わたしがあなたがたの前に述べたこのもろもろの祝福と，のろいの事があなたに臨み，あなたがあなたの神，主に追いやられたもろもろの國民のなかでこの事を心に考えて，

あなたもあなたの子供も共にあなたの神，主に立ち歸り，わたしが，きょう，命じるすべてのことにおいて，心をつくし，精神をつくして，主の聲に聞き從うならば，

あなたの神，主はあなたを再び榮えさせ，あなたをあわれみ，あなたの神，主はあなたを散らされた國¿から再び集められるであろう．

たといあなたが天のはてに追いやられても，あなたの神，主はそこからあなたを集め，そこからあなたを連れ歸られるであろう．

あなたの神，主はあなたの先祖が所有した地にあなたを歸らせ，あなたはそれを所有するに至るであろう．主はまたあなたを榮えさせ，數を增して先祖たちよりも多くされるであろう．

And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee,

And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul;

That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.

If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee:

And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.

そしてあなたの神，主はあなたの心とあなたの子孫の心に割禮を施し，あなたをして，心をつくし，精神をつくしてあなたの神，主を愛させ，こうしてあなたに命を得させられるであろう．

あなたの神，主はまた，あなたを迫害する敵と，あなたを憎む者とに，このもろもろののろいをこうむらせられるであろう．

しかし，あなたは再び主の聲に聞き從い，わたしが，きょう，あなたに命じるすべての戒めを守るであろう．

これはあなたが，あなたの神，主の聲に聞きしたがい，この律法の書にしるされた戒めと定めとを守り，心をつくし，精神をつくしてあなたの神，主に歸するからである．

And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

And the LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee.

And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the LORD, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.

And the LORD thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good: for the LORD will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers:

If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.

わたしが，きょう，あなたに命じるこの戒めは，むずかしいものではなく，また遠いものでもない．

これは天にあるのではないから，『だれがわれわれのために天に上り，それをわれわれのところへ持ってきて，われわれに聞かせ，行わせるであろうか』と言うに及ばない．

またこれは海のかなたにあるのではないから，『だれがわれわれのために海を渡って行き，それをわれわれのところへ携えてきて，われわれに聞かせ，行わせるであろうか』と言うに及ばない．

この言葉はあなたに，はなはだ近くあってあなたの口にあり，またあなたの心にあるから，あなたはこれを行うことができる．

見よ，わたしは，きょう，命とさいわい，および死と災をあなたの前に置いた．

For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off.

It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?

Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?

But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;

すなわちわたしは，きょう，あなたにあなたの神，主を愛し，その道に步み，その戒めと定めと，おきてとを守ることを命じる．それに從うならば，あなたは生きながらえ，その數は多くなるであろう．またあなたの神，主はあなたが行って取る地であなたを祝福されるであろう．

しかし，もしあなたが心をそむけて聞き從わず，誘われて他の神¿を拜み，それに仕えるならば，

わたしは，きょう，あなたがたに告げる．あなたがたは必ず滅びるであろう．あなたがたはヨルダンを渡り，はいって行って取る地でながく命を保つことができないであろう．

わたしは，きょう，天と地を呼んであなたがたに對する證人とする．わたしは命と死および祝福とのろいをあなたの前に置いた．あなたは命を選ばなければならない．そうすればあなたとあなたの子孫は生きながらえることができるであろう．

すなわちあなたの神，主を愛して，その聲を聞き，主につき從わなければならない．そうすればあなたは命を得，かつ長く命を保つことができ，主が先祖アブラハム，イサク，ヤコブに與えると誓われた地に住むことができるであろう」．

In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;

I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
