- また， ある 役人が イエス に 尋ねた， 「よき 師よ， 何をしたら 永遠の 生命が 受けられましょうか 」．
- イエス は 言われた， 「なぜわたしをよき 者と 言うのか． 神ひとりのほかによい 者はいない．
- いましめはあなたの 知っているとおりである， 『姦淫するな， 殺すな， 盜むな， 僞證を 立てるな， 父と 母とを 敬え 』」．
- すると 彼は 言った， 「それらのことはみな， 小さい 時から 守っております 」．
- イエス はこれを 聞いて 言われた， 「あなたのする 事がまだ 一つ 殘っている． 持っているものをみな 賣り 拂って， 貧しい 人¿に 分けてやりなさい． そうすれば， 天に 寶を 持つようになろう． そして， わたしに 從ってきなさい 」．

- And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
- And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
- Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
- And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
- Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

- 彼はこの 言葉を 聞いて 非常に 悲しんだ． 大金持であったからである．
- イエス は 彼の 樣子を 見て 言われた， 「財産のある 者が 神の 國にはいるのはなんとむずかしいことであろう．
- 富んでいる 者が 神の 國にはいるよりは， らくだが 針の 穴を 通る 方が， もっとやさしい 」．
- これを 聞いた 人¿が， 「それでは， だれが 救われることができるのですか 」と 尋ねると，
- イエス は 言われた， 「人にはできない 事も， 神にはできる 」．

- And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
- And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
- For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
- And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?
- And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

- ペテロ が 言った， 「ごらんなさい， わたしたちは 自分のものを 捨てて， あなたに 從いました 」．
- イエス は 言われた， 「よく 聞いておくがよい． だれでも 神の 國のために， 家， 妻， 兄弟， 兩親， 子を 捨てた 者は，
- 必ずこの 時代ではその 幾倍もを 受け， また， きたるべき 世では 永遠の 生命を 受けるのである 」．

- Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.
- And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,
- Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.
