여호수아

  본서는 모세 오경과 그 이후의 이스라엘 역사를 연결시키는 역할을 하는 책으로, 하나님께서 아브라함과 맺으신 땅에 대한 언약이 어떻게 성취되었는가를 보여 주고 있다. 또한 이스라엘이 가나안을 정복할 수 있었던 원동력은 하나님을 향한 신앙과 말씀에 대한 순종이었음을 강조하고 있다.

  요단 강을 건넌 이스라엘은 전쟁에 앞서 언약 백성으로서의 규례인 할례와 유월절 행사를 거행한다. 그 후 하나님의 인도하심을 따라 가나안 중앙, 남부, 북부에서 대승을 거두고 가나안 땅을 차지한다. 여호수아는 각 지파별로 기업을 분배해 주고, 고별 설교를 통해 백성들에게 언약을 잘 지킬 것을 당부한 후 임종한다.

 

 

여호수아 1:1-2:24

 하나님께서는 여호수아에게 강하고 담대하라고 하시며 어디를 가든지 함께하시겠다고 약속하셨다. 여호수아는 백성들이 요단 강을 건널 수 있도록 준비시켰으며, 싯딤에 이르러 가나안 정복의 첫 목표지인 여리고에 두 정탐꾼을 보냈다. 기생 라합의 도움으로 무사히 임무를 마치고 돌아온 정탐꾼들은 여리고의 백성들이 이스라엘을 두려워하고 있다고 보고했다.
  
  모세의 후계자 여호수아(1:1-1:18)    
 
  1. 主のしもべ モ ― セ が 死んだ 後， 主は モ ― セ の 從者， ヌン の 子 ヨシュア に 言われた，
  2. 「わたしのしもべ モ ― セ は 死んだ． それゆえ， 今あなたと， このすべての 民とは， 共に 立って， この ヨルダン を 渡り， わたしが イスラエル の 人¿に 與える 地に 行きなさい．
  3. あなたがたが， 足の 裏で 踏む 所はみな， わたしが モ ― セ に 約束したように， あなたがたに 與えるであろう．
  4. あなたがたの 領域は， 荒野から レバノン に 及び， また 大川 ユフラテ から ヘテ びとの 全地にわたり， 日の 入る 方の 大海に 達するであろう．
  5. あなたが 生きながらえる 日の 間， あなたに 當ることのできる 者は， ひとりもないであろう． わたしは， モ ― セ と 共にいたように， あなたと 共におるであろう． わたしはあなたを 見放すことも， 見捨てることもしない．
  1. Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying,
  2. Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
  3. Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
  4. From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.
  5. There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
  1. 强く， また 雄¿しくあれ． あなたはこの 民に， わたしが 彼らに 與えると， その 先祖たちに 誓った 地を 獲させなければならない．
  2. ただ 强く， また 雄¿しくあって， わたしのしもべ モ ― セ があなたに 命じた 律法をことごとく 守って 行い， これを 離れて 右にも 左にも 曲ってはならない． それはすべてあなたが 行くところで， 勝利を 得るためである．
  3. この 律法の 書をあなたの 口から 離すことなく， ¿も 夜もそれを 思い， そのうちにしるされていることを， ことごとく 守って 行わなければならない． そうするならば， あなたの 道は 榮え， あなたは 勝利を 得るであろう．
  4. わたしはあなたに 命じたではないか． 强く， また 雄¿しくあれ． あなたがどこへ 行くにも， あなたの 神， 主が 共におられるゆえ， 恐れてはならない， おののいてはならない 」．
  5. そこで ヨシュア は 民のつかさたちに 命じて 言った，
  1. Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
  2. Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.
  3. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
  4. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
  5. Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,
  1. 「宿營のなかを 巡って 民に 命じて 言いなさい， 『糧食の 備えをしなさい． 三日のうちに， あなたがたはこの ヨルダン を 渡って， あなたがたの 神， 主があなたがたに 與えて 獲させようとされる 地を 獲るために， 進み 行かなければならないからである 』」．
  2. ヨシュア はまた ルベン びと， ガド びと， および マナセ の 半部族に 言った，
  3. 「主のしもべ モ ― セ があなたがたに 命じて， 『あなたがたの 神， 主はあなたがたのために 安息の 場所を 備え， この 地をあなたがたに 賜わるであろう 』と 言った 言葉を 記憶しなさい．

  1. Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.
  2. And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying,
  3. Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, The LORD your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.
  4. Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them;
  5. Until the LORD have given your brethren rest, as he hath given you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the LORD's servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the sunrising.
  1. 彼らは ヨシュア に 答えた， 「あなたがわれわれに 命じられたことをみな 行います． あなたがつかわされる 所へは， どこへでも 行きます．

  1. And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go.
  2. According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.
  3. Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.
 
  여리고 정탐(2:1-2:24)    
 
  1. ヌン の 子 ヨシュア は， シッテム から， ひそかにふたりの 斥候をつかわして 彼らに 言った， 「行って， その 地， 特に エリコ を 探りなさい 」． 彼らは 行って， 名を ラハブ という 遊女の 家にはいり， そこに 泊まったが，

  1. And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot's house, named Rahab, and lodged there.
  2. And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to search out the country.
  3. And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country.
  4. And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were:
  5. And it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither the men went I wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them.
  1. その 實， 彼女はすでに 彼らを 連れて 屋根にのぼり， 屋上に ¿べてあった 亞麻の 莖の 中に 彼らを 隱していたのである．
  2. そこでその 人¿は 彼らのあとを 追って ヨルダン の 道を 進み， 渡し 場へ 向かった． あとを 追う 者が 出て 行くとすぐ 門は 閉ざされた．
  3. ふたりの 人がまだ 寢ないうち， ラハブ は 屋上にのぼって 彼らの 所にきた．
  4. そして 彼らに 言った， 「主がこの 地をあなたがたに 賜わったこと， わたしたちがあなたがたをひじょうに 恐れていること， そしてこの 地の 民がみなあなたがたの 前に 震えおののいていることをわたしは 知っています．
  5. あなたがたが エジプト から 出てこられた 時， 主があなたがたの 前で 紅海の 水を 干されたこと， およびあなたがたが， ヨルダン の 向こう 側にいた アモリ びとのふたりの 王 シホン と オグ にされたこと， すなわちふたりを， 全滅されたことを， わたしたちは 聞いたからです．
  1. But she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof.
  2. And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.
  3. And before they were laid down, she came up unto them upon the roof;
  4. And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.
  5. For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.
  1. わたしたちはそれを 聞くと， 心は 消え， あなたがたのゆえに 人¿は 全く 勇氣を 失ってしまいました． あなたがたの 神， 主は 上の 天にも， 下の 地にも， 神でいらせられるからです．
  2. それで， どうか， わたしがあなたがたを 親切に 扱ったように， あなたがたも， わたしの 父の 家を 親切に 扱われることをいま 主をさして 誓い， 確かなしるしをください．
  3. そしてわたしの 父母， 兄弟， 姉妹およびすべて 彼らに 屬するものを 生きながらえさせ， わたしたちの 命を 救って， 死を 免れさせてください 」．
  4. ふたりの 人は 彼女に 言った， 「もしあなたがたが， われわれのこのことを 他に 漏らさないならば， われわれは 命にかけて， あなたがたを 救います． また 主がわれわれにこの 地を 賜わる 時， あなたがたを 親切に 扱い， 眞實をつくしましょう 」．
  5. そこで ラハブ は 綱をもって 彼らを 窓からつりおろした． その 家が 町の 城壁の 上に 建っていて， 彼女はその 城壁の 上に 住んでいたからである．
  1. And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.
  2. Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father's house, and give me a true token:
  3. And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.
  4. And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.
  5. Then she let them down by a cord through the window: for her house was upon the town wall, and she dwelt upon the wall.
  1. ラハブ は 彼らに 言った， 「追手に 會わないように， あなたがたは 山へ 行って， 三日の 間そこに 身を 隱し， 追手の 歸って 行くのを 待って， それから 去って 行きなさい 」．

  4. ひとりでも 家の 戶口から 外へ 出て， 血を 流されることがあれば， その 責めはその 人自身のこうべに 歸すでしょう． われわれに 罪はありません． しかしあなたの 家の 中にいる 人に 手をかけて 血を 流すことがあれば， その 責めはわれわれのこうべに 歸すでしょう．
  5. またあなたが， われわれのこのことを 他に 漏らすならば， あなたがわれわれに 誓わせた 誓いについては， われわれに 罪はありません 」．
  1. And she said unto them, Get you to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers be returned: and afterward may ye go your way.
  2. And the men said unto her, We will be blameless of this thine oath which thou hast made us swear.
  3. Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household, home unto thee.
  4. And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.
  5. And if thou utter this our business, then we will be quit of thine oath which thou hast made us to swear.
  1. ラハブ は 言った， 「あなたがたの 仰せのとおりにいたしましょう 」． こうして 彼らを 送り 出したので， 彼らは 去った． そして 彼女は 赤いひもを 窓に 結んだ．

  1. And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.
  2. And they went, and came unto the mountain, and abode there three days, until the pursuers were returned: and the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but found them not.
  3. So the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and told him all things that befell them:
  4. And they said unto Joshua, Truly the LORD hath delivered into our hands all the land; for even all the inhabitants of the country do faint because of us.
