	여호수아 6:1-7:26 가나안 정복 전쟁에 나선 이스라엘이 하나님의 지시대로 여리고 성을 7일 동안 돈 뒤 외치자 성이 무너졌다. 백성들은 라합과 그의 가족을 제외한 모든 사람을 죽이고 은금은 하나님께 바쳤다. 그러나 아간의 범죄로 말미암아 아이 성 공략에 실패하고 말았고, 이에 여호수아는 하나님의 명령에 따라 제비뽑기를 실시하여 아간으로부터 죄를 자백받고 그와 그의 가족을 처형했다.

さてエリコは，イスラエルの人¿のゆえに，かたく閉ざして，出入りするものがなかった．

主はヨシュアに言われた，「見よ，わたしはエリコと，その王および大勇士を，あなたの手にわたしている．

あなたがた，いくさびとはみな，町を巡って，町の周圍を一度回らなければならない．六日の間そのようにしなければならない．

七人の祭司たちは，おのおの雄羊の角のラッパを携えて，箱に先立たなければならない．そして七日目には七度町を巡り，祭司たちはラッパを吹き鳴らさなければならない．

そして祭司たちが雄羊の角を長く吹き鳴らし，そのラッパの音が，あなたがたに聞える時，民はみな大聲に呼ばわり，叫ばなければならない．そうすれば，町の周圍の石がきは，くずれ落ち，民はみなただちに進んで，攻め上ることができる」．

Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.

And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.

And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.

And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.

And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.

ヌンの子ヨシュアは祭司たちを召して言った，「あなたがたは契約の箱をかき，七人の祭司たちは雄羊の角のラッパ七本を携えて，主の箱に先立たなければならない」．

そして民に言った，「あなたがたは進んで行って町を巡りなさい．武裝した者は主の箱に先立って進まなければならない」．

しかし，ヨシュアは民に命じて言った，「あなたがたは呼ばわってはならない．あなたがたの聲を聞えさせてはならない．また口から言葉を出してはならない．ただ，わたしが呼ばわれと命じる日に，あなたがたは呼ばわらなければならない」．

And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said unto them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD.

And he said unto the people, Pass on, and compass the city, and let him that is armed pass on before the ark of the LORD.

And it came to pass, when Joshua had spoken unto the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns passed on before the LORD, and blew with the trumpets: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them.

And the armed men went before the priests that blew with the trumpets, and the rereward came after the ark, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.

And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout.

こうして主の箱を持って，町を巡らせ，その周圍を一度回らせた．人¿は宿營に歸り，夜を宿營で過ごした．

翌朝ヨシュアは早く起き，祭司たちは主の箱をかき，

七人の祭司たちは，雄羊の角のラッパ七本を携えて，主の箱に先立ち，絶えず，ラッパを吹き鳴らして進み，武裝した者はこれに先立って行き，しんがりは主の箱に從った．ラッパは絶え間なく鳴り響いた．

その次の日にも，町の周圍を一度巡って宿營に歸った．六日の間そのようにした．

七日目には，夜明けに，早く起き，同じようにして，町を七度めぐった．町を七度めぐったのはこの日だけであった．

So the ark of the LORD compassed the city, going about it once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.

And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD.

And seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; but the rereward came after the ark of the LORD, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.

And the second day they compassed the city once, and returned into the camp: so they did six days.

And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times.

七度目に，祭司たちがラッパを吹いた時，ヨシュアは民に言った，「呼ばわりなさい．主はこの町をあなたがたに賜わった．

この町と，その中のすべてのものは，主への奉納物として滅ぼされなければならない．ただし遊女ラハブと，その家に共におる者はみな生かしておかなければならない．われわれが送った使者たちをかくまったからである．

また，あなたがたは，奉納物に手を觸れてはならない．奉納に當り，その奉納物をみずから取って，イスラエルの宿營を，滅ぼさるべきものとし，それを惱ますことのないためである．

ただし，銀と金，靑銅と鐵の器は，みな主に聖なる物であるから，主の倉に携え入れなければならない」．

そこで民は呼ばわり，祭司たちはラッパを吹き鳴らした．民はラッパの音を聞くと同時に，みな大聲をあげて呼ばわったので，石がきはくずれ落ちた．そこで民はみな，すぐに上って町にはいり，町を攻め取った．

And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city.

And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the LORD: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.

And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.

But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the LORD: they shall come into the treasury of the LORD.

So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

そして町にあるものは，男も，女も，若い者も，老いた者も，また牛，羊，ろばをも，ことごとくつるぎにかけて滅ぼした．

その時ヨシュアは，この地を探ったふたりの人に言った，「あの遊女の家にはいって，その女と彼女に屬するすべてのものを連れ出し，彼女に誓ったようにしなさい」．

斥候となったその若い人たちははいって，ラハブとその父母，兄弟，そのほか彼女に屬するすべてのものを連れ出し，その親族をみな連れ出して，イスラエルの宿營の外に置いた．

そして火で町とその中のすべてのものを燒いた．ただ，銀と金，靑銅と鐵の器は，主の家の倉に納めた．

しかし，遊女ラハブとその父の家の一族と彼女に屬するすべてのものとは，ヨシュアが生かしておいたので，ラハブは今日までイスラエルのうちに住んでいる．これはヨシュアがエリコを探らせるためにつかわした使者たちをかくまったためである．

And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.

But Joshua had said unto the two men that had spied out the country, Go into the harlot's house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye sware unto her.

And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Israel.

And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein: only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD.

And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father's household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

ヨシュアは，その時，人¿に誓いを立てて言った，「おおよそ立って，このエリコの町を再建する人は，主の前にのろわれるであろう．その礎をすえる人は長子を失い，／その門を建てる人は末の子を失うであろう」．

主はヨシュアと共におられ，ヨシュアの名聲は，あまねくその地に廣がった．

And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.

So the LORD was with Joshua; and his fame was noised throughout all the country.

	아간의 범죄(7:1-7:26)

しかし，イスラエルの人¿は奉納物について罪を犯した．すなわちユダの部族のうちの，ゼラの子ザブデの子であるカルミの子アカンが奉納物を取ったのである．それで主はイスラエルの人¿にむかって怒りを發せられた．

ヨシュアはエリコから人¿をつかわし，ベテルの東，ベテアベンの近くにあるアイに行かせようとして，その人¿に言った，「上って行って，かの地を探ってきなさい」．人¿は上って行って，アイを探ったが，

ヨシュアのもとに歸ってきて言った，「民をことごとく行かせるには及びません．ただ二，三千人を上らせて，アイを擊たせなさい．彼らは少ないのですから，民をことごとくあそこへやってほねおりをさせるには及びません」．

そこで民のうち，おおよそ三千人がそこに上ったが，ついにアイの人¿の前から逃げ出した．

アイの人¿は彼らのうち，おおよそ三十六人を殺し，更に彼らを門の前からシバリムまで追って，下り坂で彼らを殺したので，民の心は消えて水のようになった．

But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.

And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Bethaven, on the east of Bethel, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai.

And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.

So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai.

And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.

そのためヨシュアは衣服を裂き，イスラエルの長老たちと共に，主の箱の前で，夕方まで地にひれ伏し，ちりをかぶった．

ヨシュアは言った，「ああ，主なる神よ，あなたはなにゆえ，この民にヨルダンを渡らせ，われわれをアモリびとの手に渡して滅ぼさせられるのですか．われわれはヨルダンの向こうに，安んじてとどまればよかったのです．

ああ，主よ．イスラエルがすでに敵に背をむけた今となって，わたしはまた何を言い得ましょう．

カナンびと，およびこの地に住むすべてのものは，これを聞いて，われわれを攻めかこみ，われわれの名を地から斷ち去ってしまうでしょう．それであなたは，あなたの大いなる名のために，何をしようとされるのですか」．

主はヨシュアに言われた，「立ちなさい．あなたはどうして，そのようにひれ伏しているのか．

And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.

And Joshua said, Alas, O LORD God, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan!

O LORD, what shall I say, when Israel turneth their backs before their enemies!

For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto thy great name?

And the LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?

イスラエルは罪を犯し，わたしが彼らに命じておいた契約を破った．彼らは奉納物を取り，盜み，かつ僞って，それを自分の所有物のうちに入れた．

それでイスラエルの人¿は敵に當ることができず，敵に背をむけた．彼らも滅ぼされるべきものとなったからである．あなたがたが，その滅ぼされるべきものを，あなたがたのうちから滅ぼし去るのでなければ，わたしはもはやあなたがたとは共にいないであろう．

立って，民を淸めて言いなさい，『あなたがたは身を淸めて，あすのために備えなさい．イスラエルの神，主はこう仰せられる，「イスラエルよ，あなたがたのうちに，滅ぼされるべきものがある．その滅ぼされるべきものを，あなたがたのうちから除き去るまでは，敵に當ることはできないであろう」．

それゆえ，あすの朝，あなたがたは部族ごとに進み出なければならない．そして主がくじを當てられる部族は，氏族ごとに進みいで，主がくじを當てられる氏族は，家族ごとに進みいで，主がくじを當てられる家族は，男ひとりびとり進み出なければならない．

そしてその滅ぼされるべきものを持っていて，くじを當てられた者は，その持ち物全部と共に，火で燒かれなければならない．主の契約を破りイスラエルのうちに愚かなことを行ったからである』」．

Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.

Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.

Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.

In the morning therefore ye shall be brought according to your tribes: and it shall be, that the tribe which the LORD taketh shall come according to the families thereof; and the family which the LORD shall take shall come by households; and the household which the LORD shall take shall come man by man.

And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.

こうしてヨシュアは朝早く起き，イスラエルを部族ごとに進み出させたところ，ユダの部族がくじに當り，

ユダのもろもろの氏族を進み出させたところ，ゼラびとの氏族が，くじに當った．ゼラびとの氏族を家族ごとに進み出させたところ，ザブデの家族が，くじに當った．

ザブデの家族を男ひとりびとり進み出させたところ，アカンがくじに當った．アカンはユダの部族のうちの，ゼラの子，ザブデの子なるカルミの子である．

その時ヨシュアはアカンに言った，「わが子よ，イスラエルの神，主に榮光を歸し，また主をさんびし，あなたのしたことを今わたしに告げなさい．わたしに隱してはならない」．

アカンはヨシュアに答えた，「ほんとうにわたしはイスラエルの神，主に對して罪を犯しました．わたしがしたのはこうです．

So Joshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Israel by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken:

And he brought the family of Judah; and he took the family of the Zarhites: and he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man; and Zabdi was taken:

And he brought his household man by man; and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.

And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me.

And Achan answered Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done:

わたしはぶんどり物のうちに，シナルの美しい外套一枚と銀二百シケルと，目方五十シケルの金の延べ棒一本のあるのを見て，ほしくなり，それを取りました．わたしの天幕の中に，地に隱してあります．銀はその下にあります」．

そこでヨシュアは使者たちをつかわした．使者たちが天幕に走っていって見ると，それは彼の天幕に隱してあって，銀もその下にあった．

彼らはそれを天幕の中から取り出して，ヨシュアとイスラエルのすべての人¿の所に携えてきたので，それを主の前に置いた．

ヨシュアはすべてのイスラエルびとと共に，ゼラの子アカンを捕え，かの銀と外套と金の延べ棒，および彼のむすこ，娘，牛，ろば，羊，天幕など，彼の持ち物をことごとく取って，アコルの谷へ引いていった．

そしてヨシュアは言った，「なぜあなたはわれわれを惱ましたのか．主は，きょう，あなたを惱まされるであろう」．やがてすべてのイスラエルびとは石で彼を擊ち殺し，また彼の家族をも石で擊ち殺し，火をもって燒いた．

When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.

So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran unto the tent; and, behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it.

And they took them out of the midst of the tent, and brought them unto Joshua, and unto all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the LORD.

And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.

And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.

そしてアカンの上に石塚を大きく積み上げたが，それは今日まで殘っている．そして主は激しい怒りをやめられたが，このことによって，その所の名は今日までアコルの谷と呼ばれている．

And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day.
