사무엘상

본서는 지파 중심의 사사 체제에서 중앙 집권적 왕정 체제로의 변천 과정과 이스라엘을 통치하시는 하나님의 섭리, 즉 하나님께서는 인간의 삶뿐만 아니라 모든 민족의 삶을 주관하시는 것을 보여 주고 있다. 사무엘은 이스라엘의 초대 왕 사울과 그 뒤를 이은 다윗에게 기름을 부어 왕으로 삼음으로써 이스라엘의 왕정을 세우는 데 결정적인 역할을 했다.

본서는 사무엘(1-7장), 사울(8-15장), 다윗(16-31장)을 중심으로 하여 전개된다. 타락한 제사장들과 사사들 때문에 백성들이 왕을 세워 줄 것을 요구하자, 하나님께서는 사울을 왕으로 세우신다. 그러나 그가 불순종하자 그를 버리고 다윗에게 기름을 부어 이스라엘의 왕으로 삼으신다.

	사무엘상 1:1-2:36 자식이 없어 고통을 당하던 한나는 하나님께 기도하고 통곡하며 서원하여 그토록 소원하던 아들 사무엘을 낳아 하나님께 드렸다. 이에 한나는 자신의 기도에 응답하신 하나님의 절대 주권과 능력을 찬양했다. 당시의 제사장 겸 사사인 엘리의 아들들이 하나님께 범죄함으로 인해 그 집안에 대한 하나님의 심판이 선고되었다.

	사무엘의 출생(1:1-1:28)

エフライムの山地のラマタイム · ゾピムに，エルカナという名の人があった．エフライムびとで，エロハムの子であった．エロハムはエリウの子，エリウはトフの子，トフはツフの子である．

エルカナには，ふたりの妻があって，ひとりの名はハンナといい，ひとりの名はペニンナといった．ペニンナには子どもがあったが，ハンナには子どもがなかった．

この人は年ごとに，その町からシロに上っていって，万軍の主を拜し，主に ¿牲をささげるのを常とした．シロには，エリのふたりの子，ホフニとピネハスとがいて，主に仕える祭司であった．

エルカナは， ¿牲をささげる日，妻ペニンナとそのむすこ娘にはみな，その分け前を與えた．

エルカナはハンナを愛していたが，彼女には，ただ一つの分け前を與えるだけであった．主がその胎を閉ざされたからである．

Now there was a certain man of Ramathaimzophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite:

And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the LORD, were there.

And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions:

But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb.

また彼女を憎んでいる他の妻は，ひどく彼女を惱まして，主がその胎を閉ざされたことを恨ませようとした．

こうして年は暮れ，年は明けたが，ハンナが主の宮に上るごとに，ペニンナは彼女を惱ましたので，ハンナは泣いて食べることもしなかった．

夫エルカナは彼女に言った，「ハンナよ，なぜ泣くのか．なぜ食べないのか．どうして心に悲しむのか．わたしはあなたにとって十人の子どもよりもまさっているではないか」．

シロで彼らが飮み食いしたのち，ハンナは立ちあがった．その時，祭司エリは主の神殿の柱のかたわらの座にすわっていた．

ハンナは心に深く悲しみ，主に祈って，はげしく泣いた．

And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb.

And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.

Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?

So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD.

And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.

そして誓いを立てて言った，「万軍の主よ，まことに，はしための惱みをかえりみ，わたしを覺え，はしためを忘れずに，はしために男の子を賜わりますなら，わたしはその子を一生のあいだ主にささげ，かみそりをその頭にあてません」．

彼女が主の前で長く祈っていたので，エリは彼女の口に目をとめた．

ハンナは心のうちで物を言っていたので，くちびるが動くだけで，聲は聞えなかった．それゆえエリは，醉っているのだと思って，

彼女に言った，「いつまで醉っているのか．醉いをさましなさい」．

しかしハンナは答えた，「いいえ，わが主よ．わたしは不幸な女です．ぶどう酒も濃い酒も飮んだのではありません．ただ主の前に心を注ぎ出していたのです．

And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth.

Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.

And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.

And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.

はしためを，惡い女と思わないでください．積る憂いと惱みのゆえに，わたしは今まで物を言っていたのです」．

そこでエリは答えた，「安心して行きなさい．どうかイスラエルの神があなたの求める願いを聞きとどけられるように」．

彼女は言った，「どうぞ，はしためにも，あなたの前に惠みを得させてください」．こうして，その女は去って食事し，その顔は，もはや悲しげではなくなった．

彼らは朝早く起きて，主の前に禮拜し，そして，ラマにある家に歸って行った．エルカナは妻ハンナを知り，主が彼女を顧みられたので，

彼女はみごもり，その時が巡ってきて，男の子を産み，「わたしがこの子を主に求めたからだ」といって，その名をサムエルと名づけた．

Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto.

Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him.

And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.

And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her.

Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD.

エルカナその人とその家族とはみな上っていって，年ごとの ¿牲と，誓いの供え物とをささげた．

しかしハンナは上って行かず，夫に言った，「わたしはこの子が乳離れしてから，主の前に連れていって，いつまでも，そこにおらせましょう」．

夫エルカナは彼女に言った，「あなたが良いと思うようにして，この子の乳離れするまで待ちなさい．ただどうか主がその言われたことを實現してくださるように」．こうしてその女はとどまって，その子に乳をのませ，乳離れするのを待っていたが，

乳離れした時，三歲の雄牛一頭，麥粉一エパ，ぶどう酒のはいった皮袋一つを取り，その子を連れて，シロにある主の宮に行った．その子はなお幼かった．

そして彼らはその牛を殺し，子供をエリのもとへ連れて行った．

And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer unto the LORD the yearly sacrifice, and his vow.

But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, I will not go up until the child be weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and there abide for ever.

And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seemeth thee good; tarry until thou have weaned him; only the LORD establish his word. So the woman abode, and gave her son suck until she weaned him.

And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the child was young.

And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli.

ハンナは言った，「わが君よ，あなたは生きておられます．わたしは，かつてここに立って，あなたの前で，主に祈った女です．

この子を與えてくださいと，わたしは祈りましたが，主はわたしの求めた願いを聞きとどけられました．

それゆえ，わたしもこの子を主にささげます．この子は一生のあいだ主にささげたものです」．そして彼らはそこで主を禮拜した．

And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD.

For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him:

Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.

	한나의 기도(2:1-2:11)

ハンナは祈って言った，／「わたしの心は主によって喜び，／わたしの力は主によって强められた，／わたしの口は敵をあざ笑う，／あなたの救によってわたしは樂しむからである．

主のように聖なるものはない，／あなたのほかには，だれもない，／われわれの神のような岩はない．

あなたがたは重ねて高慢に語ってはならない，／たかぶりの言葉を口にすることをやめよ．主はすべてを知る神であって，／もろもろのおこないは主によって量られる．

勇士の弓は折れ，／弱き者は力を帶びる．

飽き足りた者は食のために雇われ，／飢えたものは，もはや飢えることがない．うまずめは七人の子を産み，／多くの子をもつ女は孤獨となる．

And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.

There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.

Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.

The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.

They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble.

主は殺し，また生かし，／陰府にくだし，また上げられる．

主は貧しくし，また富ませ，／低くし，また高くされる．

貧しい者を，ちりのなかから立ちあがらせ，／乏しい者を，あくたのなかから引き上げて，／王侯と共にすわらせ，／榮譽の位を繼がせられる．地の柱は主のものであって，／その柱の上に，世界をすえられたからである．

主はその聖徒たちの足を守られる，／しかし惡いものどもは暗黑のうちに滅びる．人は力をもって勝つことができないからである．

主と爭うものは粉¿に ¿かれるであろう，／主は彼らにむかって天から雷をとどろかし，／地のはてまでもさばき，／王に力を與え，／油そそがれた者の力を强くされるであろう」．

The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.

The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.

He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD's, and he hath set the world upon them.

He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.

The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.

エルカナはラマにある家に歸ったが，幼な子は祭司エリの前にいて主に仕えた．

And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the child did minister unto the LORD before Eli the priest.

	엘리의 아들들(2:12-2:36)

さて，エリの子らは，よこしまな人¿で，主を恐れなかった．

民のささげ物についての祭司のならわしはこうである．人が ¿牲をささげる時，その肉を煮る間に，祭司のしもべは，みつまたの肉刺しを手に持ってきて，

それをかま，またはなべ，またはおおがま，または鉢に突きいれ，肉刺しの引き上げるものは祭司がみな自分のものとした．彼らはシロで，そこに來るすべてのイスラエルの人に，このようにした．

人¿が脂肪を燒く前にもまた，祭司のしもべがきて， ¿牲をささげる人に言うのであった，「祭司のために燒く肉を與えよ．祭司はあなたから煮た肉を受けない．生の肉がよい」．

その人が，「まず脂肪を燒かせましょう．その後ほしいだけ取ってください」と言うと，しもべは，「いや，今もらいたい．くれないなら，わたしは力づくで，それを取ろう」と言う．

Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD.

And the priest's custom with the people was, that, when any man offered sacrifice, the priest's servant came, while the flesh was in seething, with a fleshhook of three teeth in his hand;

And he struck it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the fleshhook brought up the priest took for himself. So they did in Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither.

Also before they burnt the fat, the priest's servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have sodden flesh of thee, but raw.

And if any man said unto him, Let them not fail to burn the fat presently, and then take as much as thy soul desireth; then he would answer him, Nay; but thou shalt give it me now: and if not, I will take it by force.

このように，その若者たちの罪は，主の前に非常に大きかった．この人¿が主の供え物を輕んじたからである．

サムエルはまだ幼く，身に亞麻布のエポデを着けて，主の前に仕えていた．

母は彼のために小さい上着を作り，年ごとに，夫と共にその年の ¿牲をささげるために上る時，それを持ってきた．

エリはいつもエルカナとその妻を祝福して言った，「この女が主にささげた者のかわりに，主がこの女によってあなたに子を與えられるように」．そして彼らはその家に歸るのを常とした．

Wherefore the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD: for men abhorred the offering of the LORD.

But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being a child, girded with a linen ephod.

Moreover his mother made him a little coat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.

And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, The LORD give thee seed of this woman for the loan which is lent to the LORD. And they went unto their own home.

And the LORD visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bare three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before the LORD.

エリはひじょうに年をとった．そしてその子らがイスラエルの人¿にしたいろいろのことを聞き，また會見の幕屋の入口で勤めていた女たちと寢たことを聞いて，

彼らに言った，「なにゆえ，そのようなことをするのか．わたしはこのすべての民から，あなたがたの惡いおこないのことを聞く．

わが子らよ，それはいけない．わたしの聞く，主の民の言いふらしている風說は良くない．

もし人が人に對して罪を犯すならば，神が仲裁されるであろう．しかし人が主に對して罪を犯すならば，だれが，そのとりなしをすることができようか」．しかし彼らは父の言うことに耳を傾けようともしなかった．主が彼らを殺そうとされたからである．

わらべサムエルは育っていき，主にも，人¿にも，ますます愛せられた．

Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

And he said unto them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your evil dealings by all this people.

Nay, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear: ye make the LORD's people to transgress.

If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them.

And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men.

このとき，ひとりの神の人が，エリのもとにきて言った，「主はかく仰せられる，『あなたの先祖の家がエジプトでパロの家の奴隷であったとき，わたしはその先祖の家に自らを現した．

そしてイスラエルのすべての部族のうちからそれを選び出して，わたしの祭司とし，わたしの祭壇に上って，香をたかせ，わたしの前でエポデを着けさせ，また，イスラエルの人¿の火祭をことごとくあなたの先祖の家に與えた．

それにどうしてあなたがたは，わたしが命じた ¿牲と供え物をむさぼりの目をもって見るのか．またなにゆえ，わたしよりも自分の子らを尊び，わたしの民イスラエルのささげるもろもろの供え物の，最も良き部分をもって自分を肥やすのか』．

それゆえイスラエルの神，主は仰せられる，『わたしはかつて，「あなたの家とあなたの父の家とは，永久にわたしの前に步むであろう」と言った』．しかし今，主は仰せられる，『決してそうはしない．わたしを尊ぶ者を，わたしは尊び，わたしを卑しめる者は，輕んぜられるであろう．

見よ，日が來るであろう．その日，わたしはあなたの力と，あなたの父の家の力を斷ち，あなたの家に年老いた者をなくするであろう．

And there came a man of God unto Eli, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Did I plainly appear unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh's house?

And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give unto the house of thy father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Israel?

Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and honourest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people?

Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

Behold, the days come, that I will cut off thine arm, and the arm of thy father's house, that there shall not be an old man in thine house.

そのとき，あなたは災のうちにあって，イスラエルに與えられるもろもろの繁榮を，ねたみ見るであろう．あなたの家には永久に年老いた者がいなくなるであろう．

しかしあなたの一族のひとりを，わたしの祭壇から斷たないであろう．彼は殘されてその目を泣きはらし，心を痛めるであろう．またあなたの家に生れ出るものは，みなつるぎに死ぬであろう．

あなたのふたりの子ホフニとピネハスの身に起ることが，あなたのためにそのしるしとなるであろう．すなわちそのふたりは共に同じ日に死ぬであろう．

わたしは自分のために，ひとりの忠實な祭司を起す．その人はわたしの心と思いとに從って行うであろう．わたしはその家を確立しよう．その人はわたしが油そそいだ者の前につねに步むであろう．

そしてあなたの家で生き殘っている人¿はみなきて，彼に一枚の銀と一個のパンを請い求め，「どうぞ，わたしを祭司の職の一つに任じ，一口のパンでも食べることができるようにしてください」と言うであろう』」．

And thou shalt see an enemy in my habitation, in all the wealth which God shall give Israel: and there shall not be an old man in thine house for ever.

And the man of thine, whom I shall not cut off from mine altar, shall be to consume thine eyes, and to grieve thine heart: and all the increase of thine house shall die in the flower of their age.

And this shall be a sign unto thee, that shall come upon thy two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas; in one day they shall die both of them.

And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever.

And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left in thine house shall come and crouch to him for a piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray thee, into one of the priests' offices, that I may eat a piece of bread.
