	열왕기상 3:1-4:34 일천 번제를 드리며 헌신을 다짐하는 솔로몬에게 하나님께서는 그가 구한 지혜와 함께 부와 영광도 주셨다. 솔로몬은 인재를 등용해 신하로 삼고 각지방을 다스리는 12장관을 세움으로써 평화롭고 부강한 왕국을 이루어 나갔다. 이러한 솔로몬의 지혜와 부요함은 세상에 널리 알려졌다.

	솔로몬의 지혜(3:1-3:28)

ソロモン王はエジプトの王パロと緣を結び，パロの娘をめとってダビデの町に連れてきて，自分の家と，主の宮と，エルサレムの周圍の城壁を建て終るまでそこにおらせた．

そのころまで主の名のために建てた宮がなかったので，民は高き所で ¿牲をささげていた．

ソロモンは主を愛し，父ダビデの定めに步んだが，ただ彼は高き所で ¿牲をささげ，香をたいた．

ある日，王はギベオンへ行って，そこで ¿牲をささげようとした．それが主要な高き所であったからである．ソロモンは一千の §祭をその祭壇にささげた．

ギベオンで主は夜の夢にソロモンに現れて言われた，「あなたに何を與えようか，求めなさい」．

And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.

Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the LORD, until those days.

And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.

And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.

In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.

ソロモンは言った，「あなたのしもべであるわたしの父ダビデがあなたに對して誠實と公義と眞心とをもって，あなたの前に步んだので，あなたは大いなるいつくしみを彼に示されました．またあなたは彼のために，この大いなるいつくしみをたくわえて，今日，彼の位に座する子を授けられました．

わが神，主よ，あなたはこのしもべを，わたしの父ダビデに代って王とならせられました．しかし，わたしは小さい子供であって，出入りすることを知りません．

かつ，しもべはあなたが選ばれた，あなたの民，すなわちその數が多くて，數えることも，調べることもできないほどのおびただしい民の中におります．

それゆえ，聞きわける心をしもべに與えて，あなたの民をさばかせ，わたしに善惡をわきまえることを得させてください．だれが，あなたのこの大いなる民をさばくことができましょう」．

ソロモンはこの事を求めたので，そのことが主のみこころにかなった．

And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.

And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.

Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

And the speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing.

そこで神は彼に言われた，「あなたはこの事を求めて，自分のために長命を求めず，また自分のために富を求めず，また自分の敵の命をも求めず，ただ訴えをききわける知惠を求めたゆえに，

見よ，わたしはあなたの言葉にしたがって，賢い，英明な心を與える．あなたの先にはあなたに ¿ぶ者がなく，あなたの後にもあなたに ¿ぶ者は起らないであろう．

わたしはまたあなたの求めないもの，すなわち富と譽をもあなたに與える．あなたの生きているかぎり，王たちのうちにあなたに ¿ぶ者はないであろう．

もしあなたが，あなたの父ダビデの步んだように，わたしの道に步んで，わたしの定めと命令とを守るならば，わたしはあなたの日を長くするであろう」．

ソロモンが目をさましてみると，それは夢であった．そこで彼はエルサレムへ行き，主の契約の箱の前に立って §祭と酬恩祭をささげ，すべての家來のために祝宴を設けた．

And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;

Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.

And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.

さて，ふたりの遊女が王のところにきて，王の前に立った．

ひとりの女は言った，「ああ，わが主よ，この女とわたしとはひとつの家に住んでいますが，わたしはこの女と一緖に家にいる時，子を産みました．

ところがわたしの産んだ後，三日目にこの女もまた子を産みました．そしてわたしたちは一緖にいましたが，家にはほかにだれもわたしたちと共にいた者はなく，ただわたしたちふたりだけでした．

ところがこの女は自分の子の上に伏したので，夜のうちにその子は死にました．

彼女は夜中に起きて，はしための眠っている間に，わたしの子をわたしのかたわらから取って，自分のふところに寢かせ，自分の死んだ子をわたしのふところに寢かせました．

Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.

And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.

And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.

And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it.

And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.

わたしは朝，子に乳を飮ませようとして起きて見ると死んでいました．しかし朝になってよく見ると，それはわたしが産んだ子ではありませんでした」．

ほかの女は言った，「いいえ，生きているのがわたしの子です．死んだのはあなたの子です」．初めの女は言った，「いいえ，死んだのがあなたの子です．生きているのはわたしの子です」．彼らはこのように王の前に言い合った．

この時，王は言った，「ひとりは『この生きているのがわたしの子で，死んだのがあなたの子だ』と言い，またひとりは『いいえ，死んだのがあなたの子で，生きているのはわたしの子だ』と言う」．

そこで王は「刀を持ってきなさい」と言ったので，刀を王の前に持ってきた．

王は言った，「生きている子を二つに分けて，半分をこちらに，半分をあちらに與えよ」．

And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.

And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.

Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.

And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.

And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.

すると生きている子の母である女は，その子のために心がやけるようになって，王に言った，「ああ，わが主よ，生きている子を彼女に與えてください．決してそれを殺さないでください」．しかしほかのひとりは言った，「それをわたしのものにも，あなたのものにもしないで，分けてください」．

すると王は答えて言った，「生きている子を初めの女に與えよ．決して殺してはならない．彼女はその母なのだ」．

イスラエルは皆王が與えた判決を聞いて王を恐れた．神の知惠が彼のうちにあって，さばきをするのを見たからである．

Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.

Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.

And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.

	솔로몬의 번영(4:1-4:34)

ソロモン王はイスラエルの全地の王であった．

彼の高官たちは次のとおりである．ザドクの子アザリヤは祭司．

シシャの子エリホレフとアヒヤは書記官．アヒルデの子ヨシャバテは史官．

エホヤダの子ベナヤは軍の長．ザドクとアビヤタルは祭司．

ナタンの子アザリヤは代官の長．ナタンの子ザブデは祭司で，王の友であった．

So king Solomon was king over all Israel.

And these were the princes which he had; Azariah the son of Zadok the priest,

Elihoreph and Ahiah, the sons of Shisha, scribes; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, the recorder.

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the host: and Zadok and Abiathar were the priests:

And Azariah the son of Nathan was over the officers: and Zabud the son of Nathan was principal officer, and the king's friend:

アヒシャルは宮內卿．アブダの子アドニラムは徵募の長であった．

ソロモンはまたイスラエルの全地に十二人の代官を置いた．その人¿は王とその家のために食物を備えた．すなわちおのおの一年に一月ずつ食物を備えるのであった．

その名は次のとおりである．エフライムの山地にはベンホル．

マカヅと，シャラビムと，ベテシメシと，エロン · ベテハナンにはベンデケル．

アルボテにはベンヘセデ，（彼はソコとヘペルの全地を擔當した）．

And Ahishar was over the household: and Adoniram the son of Abda was over the tribute.

And Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, which provided victuals for the king and his household: each man his month in a year made provision.

And these are their names: The son of Hur, in mount Ephraim:

The son of Dekar, in Makaz, and in Shaalbim, and Bethshemesh, and Elonbethhanan:

The son of Hesed, in Aruboth; to him pertained Sochoh, and all the land of Hepher:

ドルの高地の全部にはベン · アビナダブ，（彼はソロモンの娘タパテを妻とした）．

アヒルデの子バアナはタアナクとメギドと，エズレルの下，ザレタンのかたわらにあるベテシャンの全地を擔當して，ベテシャンからアベル · メホラに至り，ヨクメアムの向こうにまで及んだ．

The son of Abinadab, in all the region of Dor; which had Taphath the daughter of Solomon to wife:

Baana the son of Ahilud; to him pertained Taanach and Megiddo, and all Bethshean, which is by Zartanah beneath Jezreel, from Bethshean to Abelmeholah, even unto the place that is beyond Jokneam:

The son of Geber, in Ramothgilead; to him pertained the towns of Jair the son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead; to him also pertained the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, threescore great cities with walls and brasen bars:

Ahinadab the son of Iddo had Mahanaim:

Ahimaaz was in Naphtali; he also took Basmath the daughter of Solomon to wife:

アセルとベアロテにはホシャイの子バアナ．

イッサカルにはパルアの子ヨシャパテ．

ベニヤミンにはエラの子シメイ．

アモリびとの王シホンの地およびバシャンの王オグの地なるギレアデの地にはウリの子ゲベル．彼はその地のただひとりの代官であった．

ユダとイスラエルの人¿は多くて，海べの砂のようであったが，彼らは飮み食いして樂しんだ．

Baanah the son of Hushai was in Asher and in Aloth:

Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah, in Issachar:

Shimei the son of Elah, in Benjamin:

Geber the son of Uri was in the country of Gilead, in the country of Sihon king of the Amorites, and of Og king of Bashan; and he was the only officer which was in the land.

Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry.

ソロモンはユフラテ川からペリシテびとの地と，エジプトの境に至るまでの諸國を治めたので，皆みつぎ物を携えてきて，ソロモンの一生のあいだ仕えた．

さてソロモンの一日の食物は細かい麥粉三十コル，荒い麥粉六十コル，

肥えた牛十頭，牧場の牛二十頭，羊百頭で，そのほかに雄じか，かもしか，こじか，および肥えた鳥があった．

これはソロモンがユフラテ川の西の地方をテフサからガザまで，ことごとく治めたからである．すなわち彼はユフラテ川の西の諸王をことごとく治め，周圍至る所に平安を得た．

ソロモンの一生の間，ユダとイスラエルはダンからベエルシバに至るまで，安らかにおのおの自分たちのぶどうの木の下と，いちじくの木の下に住んだ．

And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.

And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,

Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and fatted fowl.

For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.

And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon.

ソロモンはまた戰車の馬の，うまや四千と，騎兵一万二千を持っていた．

そしてそれらの代官たちはおのおの當番の月にソロモン王のため，およびすべてソロモン王の食卓に連なる者のために，食物を備えて欠けることのないようにした．

また彼らはおのおのその割當にしたがって馬および早馬に食わせる大麥とわらを，その馬のいる所に持ってきた．

神はソロモンに非常に多くの知惠と悟りを授け，また海べの砂原のように廣い心を授けられた．

ソロモンの知惠は東の人¿の知惠とエジプトのすべての知惠にまさった．

And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.

And those officers provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon's table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing.

Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries brought they unto the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge.

And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.

彼はすべての人よりも賢く，エズラびとエタンよりも，またマホルの子ヘマン，カルコル，ダルダよりも賢く，その名聲は周圍のすべての國¿に聞えた．

彼はまた ·言三千を說いた．またその歌は一千五首あった．

For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about.

And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.

And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes.

And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.
