- しかし， 主の 使が ピリポ にむかって 言った， 「立って 南方に 行き， エルサレム から ガザ へ 下る 道に 出なさい 」（この ガザ は， 今は 荒れはてている ）．
- そこで， 彼は 立って 出かけた． すると， ちょうど， エチオピヤ 人の 女王 カンダケ の 高官で， 女王の 財寶全部を 管理していた 宦官である エチオピヤ 人が， 禮拜のため エルサレム に 上り，
- その 歸途についていたところであった． 彼は 自分の 馬車に 乘って， 預言者 イザヤ の 書を 讀んでいた．
- 御靈が ピリポ に「進み 寄って， あの 馬車に ¿んで 行きなさい 」と 言った．
- そこで ピリポ が 驅けて 行くと， 預言者 イザヤ の 書を 讀んでいるその 人の 聲が 聞えたので， 「あなたは， 讀んでいることが， おわかりですか 」と 尋ねた．

- And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
- And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
- Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.
- Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
- And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

- 彼は「だれかが， 手びきをしてくれなければ， どうしてわかりましょう 」と 答えた． そして， 馬車に 乘って 一緖にすわるようにと， ピリポ にすすめた．
- 彼が 讀んでいた 聖書の 箇所は， これであった， ／「彼は， ほふり 場に 引かれて 行く 羊のように， ／また， 默¿として， ／毛を 刈る 者の 前に 立つ 小羊のように， ／口を 開かない．
- 彼は， いやしめられて， ／そのさばきも 行われなかった． だれが， 彼の 子孫のことを 語ることができようか， ／彼の 命が 地上から 取り 去られているからには 」．
- 宦官は ピリポ にむかって 言った， 「お 尋ねしますが， ここで 預言者はだれのことを 言っているのですか． 自分のことですか， それとも， だれかほかの 人のことですか 」．
- そこで ピリポ は 口を 開き， この 聖句から 說き 起して， イエス のことを 宣べ 傳えた．

- And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
- The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
- In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
- And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
- Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

- 道を 進んで 行くうちに， 水のある 所にきたので， 宦官が 言った， 「ここに 水があります． わたしが バプテスマ を 受けるのに， なんのさしつかえがありますか 」．
- 〔これに 對して， ピリポ は， 「あなたがまごころから 信じるなら， 受けてさしつかえはありません 」と 言った． すると， 彼は「わたしは， イエス · キリスト を 神の 子と 信じます 」と 答えた． 〕
- そこで 車をとめさせ， ピリポ と 宦官と， ふたりとも， 水の 中に 降りて 行き， ピリポ が 宦官に バプテスマ を 授けた．
- ふたりが 水から 上がると， 主の 靈が ピリポ をさらって 行ったので， 宦官はもう 彼を 見ることができなかった． 宦官はよろこびながら 旅をつづけた．
- その 後， ピリポ は アゾト に 姿をあらわして， 町¿をめぐり 步き， いたるところで 福音を 宣べ 傳えて， ついに カイザリヤ に 着いた．

- And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
- And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
- And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
- And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
- But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.
