- さて， 異邦人たちも 神の 言を 受けいれたということが， 使徒たちや ユダヤ にいる 兄弟たちに 聞えてきた．
- そこで ペテロ が エルサレム に 上ったとき， 割禮を 重んじる 者たちが 彼をとがめて 言った，
- 「あなたは， 割禮のない 人たちのところに 行って， 食事を 共にしたということだが 」．
- そこで ペテロ は 口を 開いて， 順序正しく 說明して 言った，
- 「わたしが ヨッパ の 町で 祈っていると， 夢心地になって 幻を 見た． 大きな 布のような 入れ 物が， 四すみをつるされて， 天から 降りてきて， わたしのところにとどいた．

- And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.
- And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,
- Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.
- But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying,
- I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:

- 注意して 見つめていると， 地上の 四つ 足， 野の ¿， 這うもの， 空の 鳥などが， はいっていた．
- それから 聲がして， 『ペテロ よ， 立って， それらをほふって 食べなさい 』と， わたしに 言うのが 聞えた．
- わたしは 言った， 『主よ， それはできません． わたしは 今までに， 淸くないものや 汚れたものを 口に 入れたことが 一度もございません 』．
- すると， 二度目に 天から 聲がかかってきた， 『神がきよめたものを， 淸くないなどと 言ってはならない 』．
- こんなことが 三度もあってから， 全部のものがまた 天に 引き 上げられてしまった．

- Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
- And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.
- But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.
- But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
- And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.

- ちょうどその 時， カイザリヤ からつかわされてきた 三人の 人が， わたしたちの 泊まっていた 家に 着いた．
- 御靈がわたしに， ためらわずに 彼らと 共に 行けと 言ったので， ここにいる 六人の 兄弟たちも， わたしと 一緖に 出かけて 行き， 一同がその 人の 家にはいった．
- すると 彼はわたしたちに， 御使が 彼の 家に 現れて， 『ヨッパ に 人をやって， ペテロ と 呼ばれる シモン を 招きなさい．
- この 人は， あなたとあなたの 全家族とが 救われる 言葉を 語って 下さるであろう 』と 告げた 次第を， 話してくれた．
- そこでわたしが 語り 出したところ， 聖靈が， ちょうど 最初わたしたちの 上にくだったと 同じように， 彼らの 上にくだった．

- And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me.
- And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house:
- And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;
- Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.
- And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.

- その 時わたしは， 主が『ヨハネ は 水で バプテスマ を 授けたが， あなたがたは 聖靈によって バプテスマ を 受けるであろう 』と 仰せになった 言葉を 思い 出した．
- このように， わたしたちが 主 イエス · キリスト を 信じた 時に 下さったのと 同じ 賜物を， 神が 彼らにもお 與えになったとすれば， わたしのような 者が， どうして 神を 妨げることができようか 」．
- 人¿はこれを 聞いて 默ってしまった． それから 神をさんびして， 「それでは 神は， 異邦人にも 命にいたる 悔改めをお 與えになったのだ 」と 言った．
- さて， ステパノ のことで 起った 迫害のために 散らされた 人¿は， ピニケ ， クプロ ， アンテオケ までも 進んで 行ったが， ユダヤ 人以外の 者には， だれにも 御言を 語っていなかった．
- ところが， その 中に 數人の クプロ 人と クレネ 人がいて， アンテオケ に 行ってから ギリシヤ 人にも 呼びかけ， 主 イエス を 宣べ 傳えていた．

- Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
- Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
- When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
- Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.
- And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the LORD Jesus.

- そして， 主のみ 手が 彼らと 共にあったため， 信じて 主に 歸依するものの 數が 多かった．
- このうわさが エルサレム にある 敎會に 傳わってきたので， 敎會は バルナバ を アンテオケ につかわした．
- 彼は， そこに 着いて， 神のめぐみを 見てよろこび， 主に 對する 信仰を ¿るがない 心で 持ちつづけるようにと， みんなの 者を 勵ました．
- 彼は 聖靈と 信仰とに 滿ちた 立派な 人であったからである． こうして 主に 加わる 人¿が， 大ぜいになった．
- そこで バルナバ は サウロ を 搜しに タルソ へ 出かけて 行き，

- And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.
- Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.
- Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.
- For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.
- Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:

- 彼を 見つけたうえ， アンテオケ に 連れて 歸った． ふたりは， まる 一年， ともどもに 敎會で 集まりをし， 大ぜいの 人¿を 敎えた． この アンテオケ で 初めて， 弟子たちが クリスチャン と 呼ばれるようになった．
- そのころ， 預言者たちが エルサレム から アンテオケ にくだってきた．
- その 中のひとりである アガボ という 者が 立って， 世界中に 大ききんが 起るだろうと， 御靈によって 預言したところ， 果してそれが クラウデオ 帝の 時に 起った．
- そこで 弟子たちは， それぞれの 力に 應じて， ユダヤ に 住んでいる 兄弟たちに 援助を 送ることに 決めた．
- そして， それを バルナバ と サウロ との 手に 託して， 長老たちに 送りとどけた．

- And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
- And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.
- And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.
- Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:
- Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
