- その 後， パウロ は アテネ を 去って コリント へ 行った．
- そこで， アクラ という ポント 生れの ユダヤ 人と， その 妻 プリスキラ とに 出會った． クラウデオ 帝が， すべての ユダヤ 人を ロ ― マ から 退去させるようにと， 命令したため， 彼らは 近ごろ イタリヤ から 出てきたのである．
- パウロ は 彼らのところに 行ったが， 互に 同業であったので， その 家に 住み ¿んで， 一緖に 仕事をした． 天幕造りがその 職業であった．
- パウロ は 安息日ごとに 會堂で 論じては， ユダヤ 人や ギリシヤ 人の 說得に 努めた．
- シラス と テモテ が， マケドニヤ から 下ってきてからは， パウロ は 御言を 傳えることに 專念し， イエス が キリスト であることを， ユダヤ 人たちに 力强くあかしした．

- After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;
- And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.
- And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.
- And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
- And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.

- しかし， 彼らがこれに 反抗してののしり 續けたので， パウロ は 自分の 上着を 振りはらって， 彼らに 言った， 「あなたがたの 血は， あなたがた 自身にかえれ． わたしには 責任がない． 今からわたしは 異邦人の 方に 行く 」．
- こう 言って， 彼はそこを 去り， テテオ · ユスト という 神を 敬う 人の 家に 行った． その 家は 會堂と 隣り 合っていた．
- 會堂司 クリスポ は， その 家族一同と 共に 主を 信じた． また 多くの コリント 人も， パウロ の 話を 聞いて 信じ， ぞくぞくと バプテスマ を 受けた．
- すると， ある 夜， 幻のうちに 主が パウロ に 言われた， 「恐れるな． 語りつづけよ， 默っているな．
- あなたには， わたしがついている． だれもあなたを 襲って， 危害を 加えるようなことはない． この 町には， わたしの 民が 大ぜいいる 」．

- And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean; from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.
- And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man's house, named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.
- And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.
- Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:
- For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

- パウロ は 一年六か 月の 間ここに 腰をすえて， 神の 言を 彼らの 間に 敎えつづけた．
- ところが， ガリオ が アカヤ の 總督であった 時， ユダヤ 人たちは 一緖になって パウロ を 襲い， 彼を 法廷にひっぱって 行って 訴えた，
- 「この 人は， 律法にそむいて 神を 拜むように， 人¿をそそのかしています 」．
- パウロ が 口を 開こうとすると， ガリオ は ユダヤ 人たちに 言った， 「ユダヤ 人諸君， 何か 不法行爲とか， 惡質の 犯罪とかのことなら， わたしは 當然， 諸君の 訴えを 取り 上げもしようが，
- これは 諸君の 言葉や 名稱や 律法に 關する 問題なのだから， 諸君みずから 始末するがよかろう． わたしはそんな 事の 裁判人にはなりたくない 」．

- And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.
- And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,
- Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.
- And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you:
- But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters.

- こう 言って， 彼らを 法廷から 追いはらった．
- そこで， みんなの 者は， 會堂司 ソステネ を 引き 捕え， 法廷の 前で 打ちたたいた． ガリオ はそれに 對して， そ 知らぬ 顔をしていた．

- And he drave them from the judgment seat.
- Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.
