- アグリッパ は パウロ に， 「おまえ 自身のことを 話してもよい 」と 言った． そこで パウロ は， 手をさし 伸べて， 弁明をし 始めた．
- 「アグリッパ 王よ， ユダヤ 人たちから 訴えられているすべての 事に 關して， きょう， あなたの 前で 弁明することになったのは， わたしのしあわせに 思うところであります．
- あなたは， ユダヤ 人のあらゆる 慣例や 問題を， よく 知り 拔いておられるかたですから， わたしの 申すことを， 寬大なお 心で 聞いていただきたいのです．
- さて， わたしは 若い 時代には， 初めから 自國民の 中で， また エルサレム で 過ごしたのですが， そのころのわたしの 生活ぶりは， ユダヤ 人がみんなよく 知っているところです．
- 彼らはわたしを 初めから 知っているので， 證言しようと 思えばできるのですが， わたしは， わたしたちの 宗敎の 最も 嚴格な 派にしたがって， パリサイ 人としての 生活をしていたのです．

- Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Thou art permitted to speak for thyself. Then Paul stretched forth the hand, and answered for himself:
- I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews:
- Especially because I know thee to be expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews: wherefore I beseech thee to hear me patiently.
- My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among mine own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews;
- Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.

- 今わたしは， 神がわたしたちの 先祖に 約束なさった 希望をいだいているために， 裁判を 受けているのであります．
- わたしたちの 十二の 部族は， 夜¿， 熱心に 神に 仕えて， その 約束を 得ようと 望んでいるのです． 王よ， この 希望のために， わたしは ユダヤ 人から 訴えられています．
- 神が 死人をよみがえらせるということが， あなたがたには， どうして 信じられないことと 思えるのでしょうか．
- わたし 自身も， 以前には， ナザレ 人 イエス の 名に 逆らって 反對の 行動をすべきだと， 思っていました．
- そしてわたしは， それを エルサレム で 敢行し， 祭司長たちから 權限を 與えられて， 多くの 聖徒たちを 獄に 閉じ ¿め， 彼らが 殺される 時には， それに 贊成の 意を 表しました．

- And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God, unto our fathers:
- Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.
- Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?
- I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.
- Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.

- それから， いたるところの 會堂で， しばしば 彼らを 罰して， 無理やりに 神をけがす 言葉を 言わせようとし， 彼らに 對してひどく 荒れ 狂い， ついに 外國の 町¿にまで， 迫害の 手をのばすに 至りました．
- こうして， わたしは， 祭司長たちから 權限と 委任とを 受けて， ダマスコ に 行ったのですが，
- 王よ， その 途中， 眞¿に， 光が 天からさして 來るのを 見ました． それは， 太陽よりも， もっと 光り 輝いて， わたしと 同行者たちとをめぐり 照しました．
- わたしたちはみな 地に 倒れましたが， その 時 ヘブル 語でわたしにこう 呼びかける 聲を 聞きました， 『サウロ ， サウロ ， なぜわたしを 迫害するのか． とげのあるむちをければ， 傷を 負うだけである 』．
- そこで， わたしが『主よ， あなたはどなたですか 』と 尋ねると， 主は 言われた， 『わたしは， あなたが 迫害している イエス である．

- And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.
- Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,
- At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.
- And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
- And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.

- さあ， 起きあがって， 自分の 足で 立ちなさい． わたしがあなたに 現れたのは， あなたがわたしに 會った 事と， あなたに 現れて 示そうとしている 事とをあかしし， これを 傳える 務に， あなたを 任じるためである．
- わたしは， この 國民と 異邦人との 中から， あなたを 救い 出し， あらためてあなたを 彼らにつかわすが，
- それは， 彼らの 目を 開き， 彼らをやみから 光へ， 惡魔の 支配から 神のみもとへ 歸らせ， また， 彼らが 罪のゆるしを 得， わたしを 信じる 信仰によって， 聖別された 人¿に 加わるためである 』．
- それですから， アグリッパ 王よ， わたしは 天よりの 啓示にそむかず，
- まず 初めに ダマスコ にいる 人¿に， それから エルサレム にいる 人¿， さらに ユダヤ 全土， ならびに 異邦人たちに， 悔い 改めて 神に 立ち 歸り， 悔改めにふさわしいわざを 行うようにと， 說き 勸めました．

- But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;
- Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,
- To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
- Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:
- But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

- そのために， ユダヤ 人は， わたしを 宮で 引き 捕えて 殺そうとしたのです．
- しかし， わたしは 今日に 至るまで 神の 加護を 受け， このように 立って， 小さい 者にも 大きい 者にもあかしをなし， 預言者たちや モ ― セ が， 今後起るべきだと 語ったことを， そのまま 述べてきました．
- すなわち， キリスト が 苦難を 受けること， また， 死人の 中から 最初によみがえって， この 國民と 異邦人とに， 光を 宣べ 傳えるに 至ることを， あかししたのです 」．

- For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me.
- Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:
- That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.
