- わたしは キリスト にあって 眞實を 語る． 僞りは 言わない． わたしの 良心も 聖靈によって， わたしにこうあかしをしている．
- すなわち， わたしに 大きな 悲しみがあり， わたしの 心に 絶えざる 痛みがある．
- 實際， わたしの 兄弟， 肉による 同族のためなら， わたしのこの 身がのろわれて， キリスト から 離されてもいとわない．
- 彼らは イスラエル 人であって， 子たる 身分を 授けられることも， 榮光も， もろもろの 契約も， 律法を 授けられることも， 禮拜も， 數¿の 約束も 彼らのもの，
- また 父祖たちも 彼らのものであり， 肉によれば キリスト もまた 彼らから 出られたのである． 万物の 上にいます 神は， 永遠にほむべきかな， アァメン ．

- I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,
- That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.
- For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:
- Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;
- Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.

- しかし， 神の 言が 無效になったというわけではない． なぜなら， イスラエル から 出た 者が 全部 イスラエル なのではなく，
- また， アブラハム の 子孫だからといって， その 全部が 子であるのではないからである． かえって「イサク から 出る 者が， あなたの 子孫と 呼ばれるであろう 」．
- すなわち， 肉の 子がそのまま 神の 子なのではなく， むしろ 約束の 子が 子孫として 認められるのである．
- 約束の 言葉はこうである． 「來年の 今ごろ， わたしはまた 來る． そして， サラ に 男子が 與えられるであろう 」．
- そればかりではなく， ひとりの 人， すなわち， わたしたちの 父祖 イサク によって 受胎した リベカ の 場合も， また 同樣である．

- Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:
- Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
- That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
- For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.
- And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;

- まだ 子供らが 生れもせず， 善も 惡もしない 先に， 神の 選びの 計畵が，
- わざによらず， 召したかたによって 行われるために， 「兄は 弟に 仕えるであろう 」と， 彼女に 仰せられたのである．
- 「わたしは ヤコブ を 愛し エサウ を 憎んだ 」と 書いてあるとおりである．

- (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)
- It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
- As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
