욥기

본서는 공의로운 하나님께서 불의를 방관하신 이유와 의로운 자가 고난받는 원인이 무엇인지를 밝혀 주며, 고난을 통하여 하나님을 더욱 의지해야 한다는 것을 보여 주고 있다. 특히 하나님, 인간, 창조, 사단, 죄, 의, 고난, 정의, 회개, 믿음의 개념을 성경적으로 올바르게 정리하는 데 공헌하고 있다.

본서는 서론인 1, 2장과 본론인 3:1 - 42:6, 그리고 결론인 42:7-17로 명확하게 구분되어 있으며 상호 논리적 필연성으로 연결되어 있다. 즉 서론은 문제의 발단을 기록하고 있으며, 본론은 욥이 당한 고난에 대하여 욥과 친구들의 변론 및 하나님의 메시지를 통하여 다양하게 해석하고 있고, 결론은 하나님의 은혜로 모든 것이 회복된 상황을 보여주고 있다.

	욥기 1:1-3:26 욥은 순전하고 정직하여 하나님을 경외하며 악에서 떠난 자였다. 그러나 사단의 참소로 인해 욥은 그의 모든 소유물들과 자녀들을 잃고 온몸에 악창이 생겼다. 그렇지만 욥은 하나님께 입술로 범죄하지 않았으며, 이 소식을 듣고 찾아온 친구 엘리바스, 빌닷, 소발은 욥의 상태를 보고 7일 동안 말을 걸지 못하였다. 절망한 욥은 자신의 생일을 저주하였다.

	사단의 시험(1:1-1:22)

ウヅの地にヨブという名の人があった．そのひととなりは全く，かつ正しく，神を恐れ，惡に遠ざかった．

彼に男の子七人と女の子三人があり，

その家畜は羊七千頭，らくだ三千頭，牛五百くびき，雌ろば五百頭で，しもべも非常に多く，この人は東の人¿のうちで最も大いなる者であった．

そのむすこたちは，めいめい自分の日に，自分の家でふるまいを設け，その三人の姉妹をも招いて一緖に食い飮みするのを常とした．

そのふるまいの日がひとめぐり終るごとに，ヨブは彼らを呼び寄せて聖別し，朝早く起きて，彼らすべての數にしたがって §祭をささげた．これはヨブが「わたしのむすこたちは，ことによったら罪を犯し，その心に神をのろったかもしれない」と思ったからである．ヨブはいつも，このように行った．

There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.

And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters.

His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.

And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.

And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.

ある日，神の子たちが來て，主の前に立った．サタンも來てその中にいた．

主は言われた，「あなたはどこから來たか」．サタンは主に答えて言った，「地を行きめぐり，あちらこちら步いてきました」．

主はサタンに言われた，「あなたはわたしのしもべヨブのように全く，かつ正しく，神を恐れ，惡に遠ざかる者の世にないことを氣づいたか」．

サタンは主に答えて言った，「ヨブはいたずらに神を恐れましょうか．

あなたは彼とその家およびすべての所有物のまわりにくまなく，まがきを設けられたではありませんか．あなたは彼の勤勞を祝福されたので，その家畜は地にふえたのです．

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

しかし今あなたの手を伸べて，彼のすべての所有物を擊ってごらんなさい．彼は必ずあなたの顔に向かって，あなたをのろうでしょう」．

主はサタンに言われた，「見よ，彼のすべての所有物をあなたの手にまかせる．ただ彼の身に手をつけてはならない」．サタンは主の前から出て行った．

ある日ヨブのむすこ，娘たちが第一の兄の家で食事をし，酒を飮んでいたとき，

使者がヨブのもとに來て言った，「牛が耕し，ろばがそのかたわらで草を食っていると，

シバびとが襲ってきて，これを奪い，つるぎをもってしもべたちを打ち殺しました．わたしはただひとりのがれて，あなたに告げるために來ました」．

But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:

And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them:

And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

彼がなお語っているうちに，またひとりが來て言った，「神の火が天から下って，羊およびしもべたちを燒き滅ぼしました．わたしはただひとりのがれて，あなたに告げるために來ました」．

彼がなお語っているうちに，またひとりが來て言った，「カルデヤびとが三組に分れて來て，らくだを襲ってこれを奪い，つるぎをもってしもべたちを打ち殺しました．わたしはただひとりのがれて，あなたに告げるために來ました」．

彼がなお語っているうちに，またひとりが來て言った，「あなたのむすこ，娘たちが第一の兄の家で食事をし，酒を飮んでいると，

荒野の方から大風が吹いてきて，家の四すみを擊ったので，あの若い人たちの上につぶれ落ちて，皆死にました．わたしはただひとりのがれて，あなたに告げるために來ました」．

このときヨブは起き上がり，上着を裂き，頭をそり，地に伏して拜し，

While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:

And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,

そして言った，／「わたしは裸で母の胎を出た．また裸でかしこに歸ろう．主が與え，主が取られたのだ．主のみ名はほむべきかな」．

すべてこの事においてヨブは罪を犯さず，また神に向かって愚かなことを言わなかった．

And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.

	사단의 두번째 시험(2:1-2:13)

ある日，また神の子たちが來て，主の前に立った．サタンもまたその中に來て，主の前に立った．

主はサタンに言われた，「あなたはどこから來たか」．サタンは主に答えて言った，「地を行きめぐり，あちらこちら步いてきました」．

主はサタンに言われた，「あなたは，わたしのしもべヨブのように全く，かつ正しく，神を恐れ，惡に遠ざかる者の世にないことを氣づいたか．あなたは，わたしを勸めて，ゆえなく彼を滅ぼそうとしたが，彼はなお堅く保って，おのれを全うした」．

サタンは主に答えて言った，「皮には皮をもってします．人は自分の命のために，その持っているすべての物をも與えます．

しかしいま，あなたの手を伸べて，彼の骨と肉とを擊ってごらんなさい．彼は必ずあなたの顔に向かって，あなたをのろうでしょう」．

Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.

And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.

And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.

But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.

主はサタンに言われた，「見よ，彼はあなたの手にある．ただ彼の命を助けよ」．

サタンは主の前から出て行って，ヨブを擊ち，その足の裏から頭の頂まで，いやな腫物をもって彼を惱ました．

ヨブは陶器の破片を取り，それで自分の身をかき，灰の中にすわった．

時にその妻は彼に言った，「あなたはなおも堅く保って，自分を全うするのですか．神をのろって死になさい」．

しかしヨブは彼女に言った，「あなたの語ることは愚かな女の語るのと同じだ．われわれは神から幸をうけるのだから，災をも，うけるべきではないか」．すべてこの事においてヨブはそのくちびるをもって罪を犯さなかった．

And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.

So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.

And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes.

Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.

But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

時に，ヨブの三人の友がこのすべての災のヨブに臨んだのを聞いて，めいめい自分の所から尋ねて來た．すなわちテマンびとエリパズ，シュヒびとビルダデ，ナアマびとゾパルである．彼らはヨブをいたわり，慰めようとして，たがいに約束してきたのである．

彼らは目をあげて遠方から見たが，彼のヨブであることを認めがたいほどであったので，聲をあげて泣き，めいめい自分の上着を裂き，天に向かって，ちりをうちあげ，自分たちの頭の上にまき散らした．

こうして七日七夜，彼と共に地に座していて，ひと言も彼に話しかける者がなかった．彼の苦しみの非常に大きいのを見たからである．

Now when Job's three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place; Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him.

And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.

So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.

	자기의 생일을 저주하는 욥(3:1-3:26)

この後，ヨブは口を開いて，自分の生れた日をのろった．

すなわちヨブは言った，

「わたしの生れた日は滅びうせよ．『男の子が，胎にやどった』と言った夜も／そのようになれ．

その日は暗くなるように．神が上からこれを顧みられないように．光がこれを照さないように．

やみと暗黑がこれを取りもどすように．雲が，その上にとどまるように．日を暗くする者が，これを脅かすように．

After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day.

And Job spake, and said,

Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.

Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.

Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.

その夜は，暗やみが，これを捕えるように．年の日のうちに加わらないように．月の數にもはいらないように．

また，その夜は，はらむことのないように．喜びの聲がそのうちに聞かれないように．

日をのろう者が，これをのろうように．レビヤタンを奮い起すに巧みな者が，／これをのろうように．

その明けの星は暗くなるように．光を望んでも，得られないように．また，あけぼののまぶたを見ることのないように．

これは，わたしの母の胎の戶を閉じず，／また惱みをわたしの目に隱さなかったからである．

As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months.

Lo, let that night be solitary, let no joyful voice come therein.

Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning.

Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:

Because it shut not up the doors of my mother's womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes.

なにゆえ，わたしは胎から出て，死ななかったのか．腹から出たとき息が絶えなかったのか．

なにゆえ，ひざが，わたしを受けたのか．なにゆえ，乳ぶさがあって，／わたしはそれを吸ったのか．

そうしなかったならば，／わたしは伏して休み，眠ったであろう．そうすればわたしは安んじており，

自分のために荒れ跡を築き直した／地の王たち，參議たち，

あるいは，こがねを持ち，／しろがねを家に滿たした／君たちと一緖にいたであろう．

Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?

Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck?

For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,

With kings and counsellors of the earth, which build desolate places for themselves;

Or with princes that had gold, who filled their houses with silver:

なにゆえ，わたしは人知れずおりる胎兒のごとく，／光を見ないみどりごのようでなかったのか．

かしこでは惡人も，あばれることをやめ，／うみ疲れた者も，休みを得，

捕われ人も共に安らかにおり，／追い使う者の聲を聞かない．

小さい者も大きい者もそこにおり，／奴隷も，その主人から解き放される．

なにゆえ，惱む者に光を賜い，／心の苦しむ者に命を賜わったのか．

Or as an hidden untimely birth I had not been; as infants which never saw light.

There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the weary be at rest.

There the prisoners rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor.

The small and great are there; and the servant is free from his master.

Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter in soul;

このような人は死を望んでも來ない，／これを求めることは隱れた寶を／掘るよりも，はなはだしい．

彼らは墓を見いだすとき，非常に喜び樂しむのだ．

なにゆえ，その道の隱された人に，／神が，まがきをめぐらされた人に，光を賜わるのか．

わたしの嘆きはわが食物に代って來り，／わたしのうめきは水のように流れ出る．

わたしの恐れるものが，わたしに臨み，／わたしの恐れおののくものが，わが身に及ぶ．

Which long for death, but it cometh not; and dig for it more than for hid treasures;

Which rejoice exceedingly, and are glad, when they can find the grave?

Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God hath hedged in?

For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters.

For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.

わたしは安らかでなく，またおだやかでない．わたしは休みを得ない，ただ惱みのみが來る」．

I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.
