- これらは 身をかがめて 子を 産み， ／そのはらみ 子を 産みいだす．
- その 子は 强くなって， 野に 育ち， ／出て 行って， その 親のもとに 歸らない．
- だれが 野ろばを 放って， 自由にしたか． だれが 野ろばのつなぎを 解いたか．

- Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or canst thou mark when the hinds do calve?
- Canst thou number the months that they fulfil? or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?
- They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows.
- Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not unto them.
- Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass?

- わたしは 荒野をその 家として 與え， ／荒れ 地をそのすみかとして 與えた．
- これは 町の ¿ぎをいやしめ， ／御者の 呼ぶ 聲を 聞きいれず，
- 山を 牧場としてはせまわり， ／もろもろの 靑物を 尋ね 求める．
- 野牛は 快くあなたに 仕え， ／あなたの 飼葉おけのかたわらにとどまるだろうか．
- あなたは 野牛に 手綱をつけて ／うねを 步かせることができるか， ／これはあなたに 從って 谷を 耕すであろうか．

- Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings.
- He scorneth the multitude of the city, neither regardeth he the crying of the driver.
- The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.
- Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?
- Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?

- その 力が 强いからとて， ／あなたはこれに 賴むであろうか． またあなたの 仕事をこれに 任せるであろうか．
- あなたはこれにたよって， あなたの 穀物を ／打ち 場に 運び 歸らせるであろうか．
- だちょうは 威勢よくその 翼をふるう． しかしこれにはきれいな 羽と 羽毛があるか．
- これはその 卵を 土の 中に 捨て 置き， ／これを 砂のなかで 暖め，
- 足でつぶされることも， ／野の ¿に 踏まれることも 忘れている．

- Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him?
- Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy barn?
- Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?
- Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in dust,
- And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.

- これはその 子に 無情であって， ／あたかも 自分の 子でないようにし， ／その 苦勞のむなしくなるをも 恐れない．
- これは 神がこれに 知惠を 授けず， ／悟りを 與えなかったゆえである．
- これがその 身を 起して 走る 時には， ／馬をも， その 乘り 手をもあざける．
- あなたは 馬にその 力を 與えることができるか． 力をもってその 首を 裝うことができるか．
- あなたはこれをいなごのように， ／とばせることができるか． その 鼻あらしの 威力は 恐ろしい．

- She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not her's: her labour is in vain without fear;
- Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.
- What time she lifteth up herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.
- Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?
- Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible.

- これは 恐れをあざ 笑って， 驚くことなく， ／つるぎをさけて 退くことがない．
- 矢筒はその 上に 鳴り， ／やりと 投げやりと， あいきらめく．
- これはたけりつ， 狂いつ， 地をひとのみにし， ／ ラッパ の 音が 鳴り 渡っても， 立ちどまることがない．
- これは ラッパ の 鳴るごとに ハアハア と 言い， ／遠くから 戰いをかぎつけ， ／隊長の 大聲およびときの 聲を 聞き 知る．

- He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.
- He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.
- The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.
- He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet.
- He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.

- たかが 舞いあがり， その 翼をのべて 南に 向かうのは， ／あなたの 知惠によるのか，
- わしがかけのぼり， その 巢を 高い 所につくるのは， ／あなたの 命令によるのか．
- これは 岩の 上にすみかを 構え， ／岩のとがり， または 險しい 所におり，
- そこから 獲物をうかがう． その 目の 及ぶところは 遠い．
- そのひなもまた 血を 吸う． おおよそ 殺された 者のある 所には， ／これもそこにいる 」．

- Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south?
- Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?
- She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.
- From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off.
- Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.
